Chapter 157: Clanless
To be honest the idea of becoming civilian was not really a bad one. What Hashirama had suggested back then was a genuinely good idea, the problem was that it only worked if the person who inherited the Hokage position after him or after Tobirama was someone who would not quietly work against the people left behind which is in this case is Senju descendant.
Tobirama had chosen the wrong person to become the next Hokage. If Uchiha Kagami had become the Third Hokage instead of Hiruzen, the situation might have shifted differently. The Senju would have become suspicious the moment their numbers started dwindling compared to the rest of the clan.
In the original timeline, Danzo use Senju as an experiment and he disguised their murder by putting them on a mission.
But senju are stupid enough and believed with Hiruzen and Danzo because they are the student of second Hokage.
Furthermore, Uchiha ego would be tempered down a bit if Kagami become third Hokage.
Many future problem can be or might not be happen, but they Tobirama is the most racist and narcistics person ever exist in Naruto series. So this all can be blamed on him.
So now the same idea that Hashirama and Tobirama had did to their clan are also being suggested to Hyuga Clan.
"What?" Everyone inside the office frowned after hearing it.
Even the others hyuga looked hesitated because although the clan had put them on misery but the same clan had also protected them.
Becoming a civilian ninja was not something any of them had thought before, because it meant losing the protection that came with the clan name and everything attached to it. Without that name they would essentially be clanless and in the shinobi world, clanless was as close to the word commoner.
Clans functioned like nobility and civilians functioned like commoners and although that hierarchy was never written down anywhere in official terms, everyone living inside it understood it perfectly well without needing it explained to them.

Civillian - Commoner.
And thanks to Senju, the civillian position raised up compared to before.
"Raiken sama, what do you mean by this?" asked Hyuga Chiharu.
"It is exactly as I said," replied Raiken, looking at her and then at the others in the room. "The Hyuga system has put all of you through years of misery and the foundation it was built on has already crumbled. So instead of trying to rebuild something that was broken from the very beginning, why not replace it entirely with something that has already proven to work?"
Everyone in the room went quiet, Raiken let the silence sit for a moment before continuing.
"The Senju Clan removed their family name in the past and look at what followed after that decision. The reputation of civilian shinobi rose in a way nobody predicted and the internal conflict between the Senju and the Uchiha that had dragged on after Madara stupidity to betray the village, stopped almost immediately. One decision changed the entire dynamic of the system."
"This..." someone started but did not finish.
Fortunately there were no Senju or Uchiha present in the office and Raiken was free to say what was on his mind without navigating around anyone pride.
"But," one of the Hyuga members began before trailing off, because the truth was that what Raiken was suggesting made sense and that was exactly the problem. None of them wanted to admit how much they did not want to let go of the Hyuga name even after everything that name had cost them.
"I think it is better if we remain together as a clan," said Rento firmly, filling the silence the others Hyuga in the room nodded agreeing with Hyuga Rento.
The Hyuga looked at him with something close to relief in their expressions, grateful that someone had said it what they wanted to say. Meanwhile Sakumo sat quietly behind his desk turning the idea over in his mind, weighing what the impact of the Hyuga Clan name would mean for Konoha. The scandal that had just come to light had given him more political leverage over the situation than he would normally have and he was aware that this kind opportunity did not stay open for long.
If he wanted to dissolve Hyuga name at this time, no one can stop him.
He looked at Raiken for a moment and then turned his attention back to Rento.
"There will no longer be a Hyuga Clan in Konoha," decided Sakumo to turn Hyuga into civillian ninja.

The notifications kept coming without pause, donation after donation flooding in the moment Sakumo said his wordd, the viewers on the other end apparently having very strong feelings about what they had just witnessed.
Raiken glanced at the numbers appearing in his vision and small satisfied smile appear on his face.
"Hokage sama," said Chiharu and all three of the branch members were looking at Sakumo with expressions somewhere between shock and disbelief.
They had come into this office expecting their new clan leader and now the same Hokage had decided to remove their clan name.
Rento looked at the other two and they lost words, currenly Hyuga clan had basically been destroyed because of their action that almost killed Asahi.
"Yes Chiharu," answered Sakumo.
"Although we have problem before but I think we are better with the Hyuga Clan," replied Chiharu.
"Although I am quiet agree with you but Im considering the future of Konoha," Sakumo looked the three of them. "What Raiken had said is correct, why rebuild something that has proven to be failed. It is better to choose something that proven to be the correct path."
"But Hokage sama, you are also from the clan," said Rento.
"What you said is correct and I don't really care about losing Hatake clan name, our people in Konoha are too small that make it worth to have this Hatake Clan name," replied Sakumo nonchalantly.
Finally after their argument failed to convince Sakumo, they were finally accepted it.
