Chapter 139: Teaching Mikoto
Raiken could only scratch his head, fingers dragging through his hair as his thoughts tangled into knots. He stood there in silence, staring at Mikoto because what he's going to do next would make him regret it.
He had seen everything about his wife, her kindness, her strength, the quiet way she cared for him even when she thought he wasn't looking. Because of that, he knew he shouldn't lie to her. It felt wrong and the thought of going to lie to her was suffocating him.
But at the same time, another thought crossed his mind about the red line that every transmigrator had one rule they should never break, they should never reveal the truth of their origin. Not to friends, not to enemies and not even to family and Mikoto… she was his wife.
Raiken exhaled slowly, his gaze dropping for a brief moment before hardening. He had already made the decision, even if he hated it that he would lie to her.
"This," Raiken began, forcing his voice to stay steady, "is the effect of mastering the Lightning Chakra Armor and Hell Stab. I managed to learn them just by observing the Raikage when we fought of for the first time.
Even as the words left his mouth, his body stiffened slightly. The lie didn't come naturally to him, especially not when directed at someone so close. But since they were newly married, Mikoto had not yet to notice the subtle changes in his body language when he wasn't being truthful.
Mikoto tilted her head slightly, her eyes studying him for a moment. She didn't seem suspicious when hearing Raiken word.
During the last war, Raiken name had spread far and wide. As his wife, Mikoto had quietly listened to the whispers and gossip that spread through the villagers. She had wanted to know more about the man she married, to understand his responsibility as a clan leader.
And every story she heard repeated the same thing.
Uzumaki Raiken had mastered the Raikage signature techniques, Lightning Chakra Armor and Hell Stab.
Techniques that made Raikage nearly unstoppable in the last battle.
Some even claimed that his mastery surpassed the Raikage himself.
With that in mind, Mikoto nodded slowly, as if the explanation made perfect sense. Her gaze flickered over his body, his broader shoulders, his taller frame and she seemed to connect the dots on her own.
"I see…" she murmured, before her expression suddenly shifted.
A playful pout formed on her lips as she crossed her arms. "But now you're too tall."
Raiken blinked. "Huh?"
"You're taller than me by a lot," Mikoto continued, tilting her head back exaggeratedly to look at him. "It actually hurts my neck to look up at you like this."
For a moment, Raiken just stared at her, stunned.
The serious tension from earlier shattered instantly.
Seeing Mikoto act cute so naturally caught him completely off guard. His mind went blank for a second before he finally snapped out of it, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
"Hm… is that so?" he said, rubbing his chin as if considering something important. "Well, if you want, you could always learn the jutsu too."
Mikoto raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
"Yeah," Raiken continued, his tone turning slightly teasing now. "Your body might grow taller as well."
Right now, Raiken stood at around 195 centimeters, while Mikoto was only about 163 centimeters, that he could easily understand her complaint. The difference was huge enough that he felt himself like a criminal when his wife are very short.
Still, the image of Mikoto suddenly growing to match his height or even surpassing him, was strangely amusing.
He chuckled lightly. "Who knows? Maybe you'll reach 180… or even 185 centimeters."
Mikoto stared at him for a second, then narrowed her eyes.
"Are you making fun of me?"
"Not at all," Raiken replied quickly, raising his hands in mock surrender, though the smile on his face betrayed him. "Do you want to learn this jutsu, I believe you can also grow taller too."
Mikoto huffed, turning her head away. "I don't need to be that tall…"
But despite her words, there was a hint of curiosity in her expression.
Raiken watched her quietly, the smile on his face slowly fading into something softer when looking at her hair.
If at least Mikoto height could grow at least 180cm, he would be happy.
Previously his height just around 179cm and Mikoto are 163cm, which look nice when they are standing beside each other but now when his height grew to 195cm, he really looks like a giant instead of a husband.
"Wife, I will teach you this jutsu tomorrow," decided Raiken while holding her shoulder firmly.
"Ok," smiled Mikoto.
...
Raiken stepped into the shower, letting the water run over him as he exhaled slowly. It had been few days since he last properly cleaned himself and the faint smell of sweat are sticking on his body.
He wondered, how can Mikoto are fine even after smelling him because the last time he had washed was in a river, shortly after his battle against the Raikage and he can't help himself, the blood of the fallen Kumogakure make him feel nauseous.
Since returning to Konoha through teleportation, he hadn't allowed himself to return home and met his wife. Instead, he went straight to the Hokage and the higher-ups, reporting everything about the war.
It wasn't that he didn't want to come home, infact he did want to met his wife badly.
But he had a feeling seeing Mikoto too soon would shake him. It would soften his resolve, make him hesitate and in war, hesitation could cost lives.
So he forced himself to stay focused and to remain rational.
Only now, after everything had settled, did he finally allow himself to return home and met his beautiful wife.
Raiken closed the tap, the sound of running water fading into silence. He grabbed a towel and dried himself, wiping away the last traces of exhaustion along with the water. Wrapping the towel around his waist, he stepped out of the shower room.
"Ack—!"
A small, startled sound stopped him.
He looked at the right.
Mikoto stood just a few steps away, holding a plate of food she had prepared for dinner. Her hands trembled slightly and for a brief second, it looked like she might drop it. She quickly steadied herself, but her eyes remained fixed on him.
Her breath caught, It wasn't the first time she had seen her husband, but something felt… different with his new look.
Raiken body looked beautiful, as if carefully sculpted, every line, every muscle defined without being excessive. He wasn't overly bulky like a bodybuilder, but there was a quiet strength in him, something marvelous and rare.
Mikoto felt her cheeks warm before she even realized it. Her gaze flickered away instinctively, but it kept drifting back, betraying her calm look.
'When did he become like this…?' said his inner monologue.
Standing there now, with nothing but a towel loosely wrapped around his waist really challenged her.
Mikoto tightened her grip on the plate.
"I… I brought dinner," she said softly, her voice not as steady as she wanted it to be.
Her eyes lowered again, unable to meet his for too long.
There was a mix of emotions in her chest, shyness, yes, but also something deeper maybe love?
Raiken blinked, slightly confused by her reaction at first, before glancing down at himself. Only then did it click.
"…Ah."
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Later, Raiken didn't eat dinner, but he eat something else that the writer can't type here because of censorship.
