He also has to worry about robbery throughout the journey. Sometimes, transporting the payment costs nearly as much as protecting the goods themselves."
Michael slowly nodded. He had witnessed such situations countless times.
Large commercial caravans often contained an entire wagon devoted solely to carrying payment. Although goods transfers are more convenient now with the existence of trains, large money transfers still remain a problem.
"With paper currency, they no longer need to spend money renting wagons and guards."
Michael's eyes lit up. The practical advantage was obvious.
