A warm breeze swept across Eva's cheek tickling her nose. The unfamiliar ceiling reminded her she wasn't at Einhardt Estate any longer. She blinked and searched the room. Her eyes rested on the dark blue hair slumped over the side of the bed. He must have fallen asleep while waiting for her to wake up.
It was rare for her to catch him asleep. He always awoke to the smallest of sounds unless he was injured. She suspected he did not sleep every night. She had been saved so many times by him, yet she could find nothing she could do to ease his burdens. It left a bad taste in her mouth.
She raised her arm with some effort and placed it on top of his head. His hair was on the thicker side, coarser than hers. She traced along the side of his head until her fingers reached the tip of his ear. The part that often turned red when he was embarrassed. She smiled to herself as she rubbed her thumb against it.
