SCOTT'S POV
Her icy blue eyes were deep as a void. Almost too lifeless if only she weren't breathing. They don't track me no matter how much I block her sight. They were glassy, just staring blankly, making me wonder if this is again just another nightmare. "Diana?", I softly called her name while I caress her tender face down to her neck. Her skin was hot. Like her blood is boiling too much despite her feet is soaked in the cold stream. "Diana , look at me", she didn't. No matter how much I trigger recognition, it failed one by one. "Diana!", I repetitively shook her petrified body, calling her name to return to me.
"You finally found her", a voice came from the side, standing too close for me to hear clearly. It was calm, as if it has been there waiting for me to read what I'm looking at. "Even as strong as lythari elves, they still have their weakness. I feel bad how they won't be able to get the power that they have planned for"
Those words struck me. Just like what Wren was prattling about until his last breath. Of course, someone has to feed the lytharians the absurd idea of fusing unfathomable power into one. Original Vampire. Nagual. Lycan. Strong beings that can surpass anything in this world. The elves targeted me with a certain kind of ease, as if they already found the other two ingredients. And to see Alva messing with the lythari elves gave me more hints. How wicked and well planned this woman is. Always one step ahead. "I knew you'd come soon. Aren't you a bit too late?", she stood in front of the blaze as she hide in her shadow. Thus, without seeing her face, I know it's her. "And a little overdressed, Mrs. Woodsworth?", she's perfectly styled with a matching crisp white suit and black pumps.
"Oh! I have missed you too, Scott! If I knew you'd be missing me too much, I would have come earlier. See, I have dressed appropriately for this occasion.", Alva glared back, while I keep her from Diana. "How's the full moon? Breathtaking?", giving me a devilish smirk.
"It was magical ", furrowing my brows, turning my hand into a fist.
"Well, I heard you almost killed your Luna and at least half of your clan", she tilted her head giving me a quick look down at my leg. "All healed already? My daughter didn't severed your leg as deep as I thought", she lifted her brows then squinted her eyes at me.
Ah. How could be my memories of that night still as black as the dark side of the moon, and be this clear as the day to this woman who wasn't even there? My instincts howl what she is. Screaming not to entertain her anymore. Yet, I still stood there knowing she had hands to pull Diana out from her trance. No one else but this wicked woman. More suffocating it is than the smoke from the fire.
"Not to worry. At first you cannot recall the things that have happened. But on the next full moons, you'll be more aware of the beastly instincts that you have gained", Alva seethe through her teeth with a spark exciting her.
"You know too much. And my question is, why?", I tried to sense her as I stare intently, and still, I did not get a single whiff of her true scent "Diana's blood work well on you. What a mother".
"I know, right!.", Alva peeked at Diana. "My daughter is really something… only now, her soul is trapped in the realm of the lythari elves. She's not an Alpha like you who can breath through dimensions.. You're lucky I have a way to take her out", Alva glinted the annoyingly true capability of hers. But I refused to belief that Diana is in that realm.
"That realm has been ripped apart by my bare hands. She couldn't be there", I clasped on Diana's hard rock hand which seemed to burn a little bit more. As I search around with my senses for any lythari who have kept my Luna in their realm, I found nothing but the presence of an unknown being in the form of Alva. "I don't trust someone who puts her daughter to deep sleep every night. Uses her blood discretely for her own purposes. And hides under that skin to play mother to a Luna.".
"Judging is quite a bit of a habit of you", she said. She clapped her hands once, fastened them together tightly with a very strained smile. "Then we can both watch my daughter's life slip away right here, right now", she made an uneasy grin, not wanting to crack that perfect composure. That's when I knew she's afraid to lose Diana too.
"How about putting it this way… How could I trust someone who could possess Isavelle and Sebastian to commit murder? Extra special that you can shape shift into a wolf.. and a bird? One who exceptionally pleases vampires?", I layered out all the doubts that shapes her in my thoughts. Making her understand that there is flaw in her perfectly drawn utopia.
"And yet, you still need me to save Diana", she whispered, that hit me. Thus, I convinced myself that I may still have other ways to take her out from that reverie.
"I don't need help from a murderer.".
"Murderer? Look who's.. talking.", she stared at me displeased. "We are more than the same Scott. You have spilled so much blood in your own hands just like me.. and just like your father. You should blame him for that curse", she said in a very serious tone.
"My father was murdered. It was the other way around".
"Try telling that to yourself more often. And maybe, it might turn out as true as how you think it is", she smiled ear to ear. "Don't worry too much, we shall meet again. And by that time, you'll know better. For now, my daughter's life needs to be saved. The longer Diana stays there, the more her life seeps out from her body.", Alva said as she leave me off the hook.
I looked back at Diana and saw her skin starting to turn pale. Her pulse have weaken. At this time, Diana is slipping under dark water. "Then, save her now, so we can leave this place".
Alva clicked her tongue a few times as she shook her head from side to side. "Of course, my daughter goes with me.", Alva replied.
"You take her", I said lowly, each word dragged through something sharp. "and I never see her again".
"Awww... At least, we both don't have to lose her. Besides, you can always visit.", she corrected.
I sighed deeply, unsure of what to do. "One moment..", I faced Diana and put the moon phase watch back on her wrist. Half-hearted to give her to Alva, my life would be a total mess and meaningless without Diana. For now, whether I like it or not, the best option to keep her alive is to allow Alva to save her. "I'll be seeing you, Luna. Wait for me", I whispered as I kiss her on her warm, hard lips.
"Why are you taking so long?", Alva asked irritatingly, shoving me back to force herself in front of Diana. She smiled ear to ear, staring at Diana like a prized possession. Fixed my Luna's hair a little, before leaning down as she whisper an inaudible incantation. Immediately, Diana responded to her words. Blinking her dry eyes, relaxing her tensed body a little bit. I was enveloped with sheer troubled instinct at how Alva is too familiar with handling a rare situation like this. It stirred in me long enough for me to finally give in. And when I trusted my gut, Alva then vanished along with my Luna. Leaving that playful leer and a strong stench that confirmed all my predictions. The Nagual played me once again as I catch nothing in my hands.
