The innate ability of the Frost Ice Spirit is terrifyingly powerful, which led many Level 6 Planetary Lords to long predict that not even the mighty Golden Dragons could withstand the devastating force of a Froststorm.
In fact, some went even further. They claimed that any species below the Demigod Level, even those at the Super Peak, would not emerge unscathed after being struck by a Froststorm. At the very least, they would suffer catastrophic injuries.
During the competition, countless spectators believed that Iris was the only competitor capable of challenging Augustus, and the primary reason was the overwhelming potential of the creature. If its innate ability could be unleashed successfully, even the Golden Dragon would be unable to endure its destructive might.
As for the Abyss Demons, their combat prowess was unquestionably formidable. However, in terms of physical durability, they were, at best, comparable to the Golden Dragon and could never surpass it, unless a Demigod-Level Demon appeared. Yet even during the great war years ago, there seemed to be no historical record of such a dreadful existence.
The destructive power of Froststorm was directly tied to the battlefield's temperature. The colder the environment became, the deadlier the attack would grow. If the temperature failed to fall below a critical threshold, the Froststorm would be little more than an ordinary hailstorm with negligible killing power.
"Heh, just wait and see," Kanna replied coldly.
Eric merely sneered. "I'd like to see what kind of tricks you have..." His voice dripped with mockery as he continued, "I'll sit back and watch this so-called ultimate move of yours."
His confidence was unmistakable. Just as Eric had said, the Demons across the battlefield remained perfectly still. Rather than advancing, they quietly observed the enemy from afar.
This also exposed one of the greatest weaknesses of both units. Activating their abilities was much like a magician performing an elaborate spell; it required time. And during that vulnerable casting period, they could easily be interrupted by an enemy assault.
"These Demons are underestimating their opponent." Sergey finally let out a long breath of relief. Had the Demons chosen this moment to launch an assault and interrupt the casting, the consequences would have been disastrous.
"The Ice Moon Spirit has been the inherited species of the Ice Moon Holy Land since ancient times," Jörn said thoughtfully. "The Demons should already know that. But if I remember correctly, they were only developed a little over a hundred thousand years ago."
"That's right." Iris nodded. "It was first created by our Holy Land during those timelines."
"So that's why." Jörn smiled knowingly. "The Demons have no knowledge of the Frost Ice Spirit's innate ability."
"No wonder." Jeffery finally understood. "They aren't underestimating the enemy at all; they simply have no idea what the Frost Ice Spirit is capable of."
"This is our opportunity," a Level 3 Planetary Lord said solemnly. "If everything goes according to plan, we may be able to wipe out the entire Demon force in a single strike."
No one responded. Even the most optimistic among them found it difficult to believe such an outcome. As they watched the battlefield unfold, every face gradually grew more solemn.
Time continued to pass. Roughly a minute later, the temperature across the entire battlefield had plummeted to a surprising level, at least several dozen degrees below freezing. No one could accurately determine the exact temperature anymore. But judging by the trembling bodies of both the Wine Pandas and the Bear Warriors, the cold had already become unimaginably severe. By this point, the Ice Moon Spirit had pushed its power to the absolute limit. Its tiny body trembled faintly as obvious signs of exhaustion began to appear.
"It's time," Iris said softly before issuing her command. "Frost Ice Spirits... commence your attack."
Several Frost Ice Spirits emerged silently from the frigid mist. Born from eternal snow and ice, they were completely unaffected by the bone-chilling cold. If anything, this frozen battlefield felt like home to them.
The instant her order was given, the Frost Ice Spirits activated their innate ability, Froststorm.
Everyone instinctively widened their eyes. The Frost Ice Spirit's legendary skill had been discussed countless times, yet almost no one had ever witnessed it firsthand. As one of the exclusive species nurtured by the Ice Moon Holy Land, only core supporters such as Iris possessed the qualifications to nurture them.
Before the astonished crowd, a Frost Ice Spirit merely lifted one hand with an almost casual motion. Nothing happened. Or so it seemed. Then, in the very next instant, within the Demon formation, an enormous crystalline mass of ice materialized out of thin air without the slightest warning.
There was no gathering of energy.
No visible trajectory.
No indication whatsoever before it appeared.
The colossal ice crystal radiated an unimaginably low temperature.
An instant later...
Boom! Like an exploding grenade, the gigantic crystal shattered violently, releasing an overwhelming torrent of frozen air that had been compressed within, and the frigid shockwave swept across the battlefield in every direction.
Every Demon standing nearby was frozen solid almost instantly, transformed into lifeless statues of ice before they could even react. Those slightly farther away fared little better as a thin layer of frost spread rapidly across their bodies before thickening into solid ice. Within mere seconds, they too were completely encased, their movements halted as if time itself had frozen.
From a distance, the entire Demon formation resembled a forest of exquisitely carved ice sculptures. Had it succeeded? Or was this only the beginning?
