Inside the bedroom, the lamplight cast a warm, gentle, shimmering glow.
Sebastian Lockwood was sitting up in bed, leaning against the headboard. Sydney Sawyer was nestled against his chest, a photo album resting on her lap. She would point to photos that interested her, and he would explain them.
"Is your mother from an ethnic minority?"
Sydney Sawyer pointed to a young girl in the album wearing traditional ethnic clothing.
"Yes." Sebastian Lockwood nodded. "My dad was in the military. When he submitted his marriage application, it was rejected several times."
"Why?"
"For a Han soldier to marry someone from a minority group with different marital customs, the military usually tries to talk both sides out of it. If they insisted, they needed to get the consent of the minority party's parents…"
It was actually very difficult at the time and even affected his father's career advancement within the system, but Sebastian Lockwood didn't go into detail about that.
