I wake slowly.
My body feels heavy, my head is resting against something warm and solid, my arm draped across...
I freeze instantly when my memory comes rushing back.
Devan.
His fever.
The long night.
My eyes flutter open and I find Devan already looking at me, fully awake.
He is watching me now.
I scramble upright immediately, my heart jumping into my throat.
"You're awake..." I start, the words tumbling out too fast.
He lifts a hand slightly, stopping me.
"I have been awake." he says quietly.
His voice is still rough, but stronger than yesterday.
I blink, still trying to catch up.
"You..what? Since when?" I splutter.
"Long enough. I didn't want to wake you." he replies, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
My stomach flips.
"Oh my God, I fell asleep..."
"You did." he says softly.
Embarrassment creeps up my neck.
"I am sorry, I was supposed to..."
"I liked it."
That stops me.
"What?"
His gaze lingers on me, something warm and unreadable in his expression.
