Chapter 199 - Chapter 16

We came up with a new absolute law. If anyone questions our family or talks in a way that sounds like they wants us to separate. We either arrest them or walk away. The law was enforced in a five systems. I was fully transparent. They were extremely careful who they talk to. I apologized for the inconveniences. Kye didn't see it as an inconvenience. He saw it as filtering. Ivar and Kiska was already working with the computers to build an algorithm to find such people so it can alert the rest of us. I chose to unlink from everyone so they will have some sense of privacy. We took a vote. They agreed they like things the way they are. Søren was told to join the council so he would know how to handle this whole new life. I was invited to a royal wedding. The law says I have to attend so I left Søren in charge till I come back. He sent an army to protect me. He was sure they will try something.

We left on the yacht. Seriously I need to name this thing. I felt everyone around me laugh. We reached Polypho. The people who lived there were humans. They dress in Roman style togas. Their emperor was getting married after his wife died of child birth. He brought us all over to witness his next marriage. We were introduced one by one. He didn't like that I wore a mask. He asked me to take it off. He was told to respect the traditions of other sovereign nations or his nation was be banned. His previous actions have convinced people that they should severe ties. He apologized before the others were introduced. He kept staring at me. The emperor got married and we congratulated him. I lift the mask enough to eat. The wedding feast kept coming. I guess this where they get the term fst people. They kept eating. I ate slowly and fewer bites. The sun rose and we were allowed to rest.

After two days we came home. Søren was happy to see me. He went back to being a council member. I sat on the throne and discussed the exchange rate for our money. Right now it was at a sweet spot so we shouldn't be greedy. We voted to keep the current rates. The next on the agenda was the mental health of the ones who came from peacekeeping. What can be done to uplift their morales. We had decided they should spend time with their predecessor. So they can provide them with the support they need. We ordered organized counseling sessions to process secondary trauma and the stress of following all those dubious rules of engagement. In the end we decided to remove our people from peacekeeping. We didn't send another batch. I got a gift basket for my decision. The association of peacekeepers expressed their dismay but respected our choice.

I sent Roland and Oleg to help with the group counseling. They were soldiers so they knew what to say. They had pain that needs to be expressed. I promise to send Kiska and Eksa with the next batch. The counseling was a hit. Everyone got to heal and I felt the other switch off the internal alarm. We integrated them into society. Some made a private security firm so they can work as bodyguards. A few went to the military zone to train others so they would be tough. Others chose wood work, pottery, metal work and other crafts. The rest chose to be chefs. I wished them all luck. I also apologized for the horrors they had faced. I promise not to repeat this heinous mistake. I received a white fur coat and a white round fur hat. I loved it so much I wore it on my next outing. I felt like I was living in a story. I turn my hair gold and watched as my freckles vanished. I grew a few inches and wore knee high boots. I took a moment before I spun around to have a good look.

Oleg was laughing but he was told to be quiet. As always my clothes had GPS tags so they can track me. I walked out and the wolves were grinning as I hugged a wolf name Nova. He drove me out in his car. A two seat deep Amethyst car with tinted windows. I sat down to have tea. A masonry wolf named Oakes sat down with a cup of coffee. He was surprised I knew his name. I told him I memorized everyone's names. Oddette came a slice of chocolate cake and I paid the bill by tapping my ring on the machine. He stared as I watched everyone go about their day. I memorized their smiles, their jokes and most importantly the fact that this is the rest of our lives. I felt people raise their glasses. Oleg explained they are holding on to me like I did when Abe betrayed me. I was their anchor like Oleg was mine. Some of them have terrible flashbacks which they can deflect because I am in their heads.

I felt embarrassed since this was how the Arctic wolves were like. They were also evacuated. They were also linked and they had no objections. I saw all the taxis were automated. As in the taxi was a real flying robot transporter. I sat to watch a family of five walk past me. The woman asked me where I got the coat. I told her it was a gift from my loved one. She stared for a second before asking me if I owned any land. I smiled, "Our land is not for sale." She asked me why I would do that. I simply stated, "The last time we allowed it we were almost wiped out." She walked away without a word. I grimaced, "We were invaded by October guards, zombies and slavers. We are not repeating history." Oakes watched as I relived those days. I arrived on my bullet train Umbrella fortress. The outer alarms were blaing so badly I asked them to switch it off before it gave me a migraine. The smarties were free climbing as a battle hungry tank barreled forward.

We were about to shoot down one of the freeclimbers when a Terrance threw a guard off the wall. I flew and caught him before he hit the rocks. When I got back up the others had him pinned so I can bite him. Once I got the list of traitors he was thrown off the wall. We watched the bloaters ate him. The entire he had smile on his face. Before anyone asks what a bloater is one of them blew up. Even though shrapnel never reached us the stench did. Roland began to swear. Kiska smacked him once he changed back to human form. I was asked to remember something else. The next memory was when I was in private school. I was cruising the halls after hours and met Molly. I was invisible but her bionic ear can hear my heartbeat. She extended her hand like a blind person. So I had no choice but to climb the walls. Once on the ceiling I focused as I took each step.

I found man in security uniform and tricked him to follow me. He found Molly and she ran like she was on fire. When I was certain I was safe I entered the common room where I sat down to eat snacks. I ate cornflakes, cocoa puffs and a few candy bars. The fridge was fully stocked with drinks. All nonalcoholic to be precise. I sat by the fireplace and roasted a marshmallow. I had trouble sandwiching it between graham crackers. It snapped into two. After a dozen attempts I got it. After eating I cleaned up before going upstairs. I sat in my bed and watched a YouTube video that helps me learn different types of knots. The next memory was me in the hospital. I forgot to defrost the meat properly. The knife slipped and I cut myself. Mom was panicking as I was taken to emergency. I had more than a hundred stitches. She made it clear that I am not allowed in the kitchen for the rest of my natural life.

I remembered the day the general asked the headmaster of Winter if he could have it. Irene and Sonja were saying he will do something to retaliate. They weren't sure what. The headmaster made it clear that us children deserve a safe haven where we don't have to worry about the trouble of the outside world. He was trying to give us anxiety attacks and the man won't have it. He spent the rest of the day yelling at one government official after another till the army was told to leave us alone. A month later the window broke and the zombies jumped in to eat everyone. I kicked the table as I dragged my friends out. I noticed the zombies left me alone so I extended my hands hoping it was enough to keep them safe as we reached the garage. I remember being pushed and Daisy almost died. The sheer dumb luck that we got to the garage would still surprise.

I remember helping Cain and his men. He thanked me as we went out separate ways. I remember boarding a train and sneaking out to get anything useful since I hear they are blasting the bridge once we get to the other side. I remember a cult member living in the outskirts came to ask for girls to breed with. The mayor ordered the guards to shoot him. One of the reasons why I asked my kids to stay away from the cornfields. Once a week they would drag a dead person. Mostly girls. As I go to the market I would hear my heartbeating in my ears. Moira would tease me as I set up shop. The slave market was nearby. I would go over and trade a sack of potatoes, oranges and a few lemons. They would handover which slave I pointed at. I used hypnosis to make him write the paper granting them freedom. I hate hypnosis but it was the only way they would agree to free them.

I came back to reality and saw my family staring at me. One of the guys I free was there too. He raised his coffee cup before he continued reading the news. I stopped reading the news since all it gave me was depression. I chose to see my family's point of view at least so they can explain what can be done to fix things. We have lesser problems than the time we ruled Tsar. They had just opened a pharmacy and I requested they open a shop filled with arcade games. I was told it will open next week. Some of my family came as blind or with missing limbs. The corp asked my permission to terminate their life. I warned them that I will take them to court. When I am done they will no longer exist. Some of the blinds ones got their eyesight back with eye replacement surgery. But the others went through handicapable training. I personally trained them. This meant they learned to observe with their other senses. The ones who lost limbs received the bionic limbs.
