Chapter 198 - Chapter 15

The farmers from different parts of the galaxy sent people to collect seeds and saplings. We told them to go home since the plants are not going off world. They didn't argue since they had no clue what the stuff looks like. Since some of it is processed so they had no clue what to look for. Moreover Any and all visitors must land in the space port. They will take to their destination by cruiser or by taxi. They were taken to City hall. They went back to their planets. Some farm lands are off limits. Only the dairy farms allowed visitors. The others were very territorial. We received the next batch of genetically modified ones. They were divided equally. Some came to the capital while the rest were spread throughout. I waited till they transformed before I asked permission to link with them. They got to meet the others. Our family grew and it made me even more happier.

Oleg was invited to a conference and I asked him to remain calm. I was sure a few were there to make us look bad. Oleg is wonderful influence. But they might be summoning him to push his buttons. So he had promise to remain calm the entire time. He gave me his word. He will not let some idiot get into his skin. I also warned him to watch out for other women. He grinned as he boarded the ship. He arrived at the destination and he was greeted by the consort of Ilya. He and the others were gathered to talk about the challenges they face being the consort. Also how to help each other. He asked them how they got married. Some were forced by family members and others for the sake of peace. Oleg and one other were love marriages. The men were conversing when a madam showed up.

Oleg explained he isn't interested. He bowed out and so did a few others. He met them in the morning and discussed political asylum. Oleg was bored so he boarded the yacht and came back home. It was my birthday and I received a robe dyed a deep red. I was told it was called Vermilion. I first wore a peach toned under robe with buttons on the side. The second robe was terracotta toned with a sash. Finally I wore the lovely Vermilion robe which came with a belt. I had jade necklaces on and I wore mom's green beads too. Miranda was curious why I wore it. I explained is glow in the dark. It saved my life once. I had to show her the memory of kidnapped. Batou had killed the lights when he rescued me. I was in a closer. He saw the necklace and knew he found me. It is my favourite one. I turned the lights off for a demonstration. While She was intrigued. The others weren't so impressed. They insisted I leave it behind but I didn't since it could come in handy.

I was sitting in a podium inspecting the soldiers as they pass by. They performed with perfect synchronicity. Everything was going normally. I heard an explosion in the distance. Bomb squad explained they found a IED and blew it up. Then I saw a man wearing a bomb. He ordered me to step down and come with him or he will blow up the place. Oleg asked the nearest vampire to hypnotize him. He did and the guy was taken away. No one was hurt. The parade continued without further incident. Next was the fighter jets going up in formation. Then came rows and rows of Wraiths and Reapers. As always they had their faces covered. I cheerfully addressed all of my dear ones in the parade using mind Comms. Oleg stopped being surprised and stared with amusement. I replied, "I feel like a proud mother" the soldiers nod gruffly. Søren was amongst the ones marching in the parade. I eagerly waved but he was very serious as he saluted me.

After the parade and festivities we went back home. As I changed to pyjamas I joked that foreign dignitaries will want us to give them some saplings to take home. I suggested a hand carved and lacquered object. It could be a jewellery box or something. It has to be functional. The artisans agreed to make something just for the foreign delegations. The first batch of Oud trees were planted. It will be ten years before they are harvested. I wished them luck. Rose bushes were also brought over and planted in the palace and also in several estates. Along with jasmine and tuberose. I changed into my Atlantic colour pyjamas and braided my hair casually. He wore patrol coloured pyjamas. The last of the tours were over. We had dinner in the private state room. We had flame grilled chicken, beef tartare with chips and bresaola. Oleg and I walked the gardens before going to sleep.

Oleg went to the library and I sat down with Miranda for company. Everyone congratulated Oleg for not falling into a trap. Anything that happens there will be used as leverage. No doubt there were cameras recording everything. He chose to sit down with a book. I was enjoying the view. I apologised for taking him away from Earth. He explained, "I was tired of the constant vigilance. Personally I am glad we have to deal one problem a week or every few months. The smarties were giving me anxiety attacks. I was sick of the fragile peace between us and the humans. I am tired of all the false accusations we had to face. You are not the only one who is unclenching. We are too. I was so happy to see you sleep. You finally let go of Jasper." I replied, "I had let go of Jasper since the day I realised I loved you. I told you so many times. Had I not suffered amnesia we would have been married ages ago."

He agreed to marry me only after I had showed him the memories of us. I asked if jealousy was causing amnesia. I heard Roland laughing till Oleg snarled. Then everyone else started laughing. I felt Oleg recalled memories of us. He was trying to avoid my question. He finally bit his ego. He agreed that jealousy was rearing it's ugly head. He reminded me that he had previously fallen in love and she betrayed him. She chose someone else for the sake of convenience. He wasn't sure when he has fallen in love with me but his broken heart kept telling him that I would chose to leave him. Søren said I was missing. I was found some time later with a head wound and total memory loss. The previous day I mentioned I was going to announce something important but I was assaulted with the assistance of one terror known as Jayden. Everyone who met him snarled. We don't speak his name. Centuries may have passed but the pain he inflicted is still fresh.

Miranda sat next to me and asked me to show her what Jayden did. I was it would raise everyone's blood pressure. But still I showed her the memories. The families he ripped apart as a Nocturnal and as a human. He was a disaster that refused to call it quits. His followers are few but as resourceful and troublesome. Everyone who hasn't met Jayden were terrified. I walked towards the window. There was a section of the wall carved out. A small couch was placed there that doubles as a storage unit and a place to sit down to view the gardens. I extended my senses. I felt someone was outside. He was facing the palace. Something about this person felt wrong in every way. The Pretorian guards checked the feed and they found a man across the street exactly where my senses said it was. He was tall with broad shoulders. His arms were thick. His hair was plastered to his heart shaped face as he stood in the rain. He walked away when Otto stepped out.

The next morning he was amongst the ones allowed to enter for a tour of the palace. He stayed in the balcony to watch me mediate between my family. I was furious when a vampire member asked me to split the war planet in half. Half of the planet for the vampires and half for the werewolves only. I asked him if he had left common sense outside. We will share everything and there will be no division. No matter how hard I try one of them have do something to split us up. I told him to go to therapy and fix the underlying issues. Is bloodshed really worth it? I asked him if a eight hundred years of bloodshed wasn't enough. How many people have to die before he grows up. He apologized for being so callous. I asked everyone else if they had any more bright ideas. They remained silent as I yelled at them for twenty minutes.

I took deep breath before I showed my entire family the war. The lies that were told. The innocent people who died for no reason other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The lies that were told to rally people to fight. There was no end. The vampire elderly have killed innocent people and lied to their family saying werewolves did it. There were rogue werewolves once upon a time but they are extinct. I showed them testimony from the people I had bitten. I angrily asked them which stupid person in the street has been filling them with hateful speech. Who has been filling their heads with negativity that they had to believe the solution is not find any sort of middle ground but go their separate ways. I showed them the previous few attempts to split us up. This was one of the oldest trick in the book. It is called divide and conquer. If we are divided they can use this moment of weakness to attack and enslave us.

I asked them to find the one who has a problem with a united front. They were skeptical as they brought him over and I took off my mask. The tourists were gone and it was just us. The instigator was pinned down as I approached. He was a human wearing medieval clothes. I had to pull aside his collar and bit him. I was flooded with all of his memories and I made sure everyone saw it all. Including the one where he was paid to lie and make us doubt and hate each other. They have seen our grit and now they want to make us their slaves so we will suffer while they steal our heirlooms and our right to be free. I told them not to take my word for it. They knew the memories were the truth. Yet I told them to find the culprit and see for themselves. They found him an hour later. The vampires bit him for details. The werewolves brought him over since they can't extract memories. So I bit him and they got to see the plot to split us up. They took a moment of silence. One by one they accepted that they were duped. Then the apologizes began. Søren stared smiling. I gave him a thumbs up. He gave me one in return.
