She was trying to find her mother.
Zion sat beside her on the bed, his hand wrapped around hers.
Maxine sat on the other side, watching Amaris carefully.
"Are you ready?" Zion asked.

"I don't know if I'll be able to reach her."
"You did before."
"That was different."
Amaris closed her eyes.
"I didn't know what I was doing then."
Maxine leaned closer.
"Just concentrate on Selene."
Amaris took a deep breath.
Slowly, her breathing became steady.
Her consciousness began to drift.
The room disappeared.
The sound of Ocearia vanished.
Everything became dark.
Then a silver light appeared in the distance.
Amaris followed it.
