The room had grown quiet by the time Zion returned to Amaris' side.
She was awake now, sitting against the headboard with a blanket wrapped around her. The exhaustion was still visible in her eyes, but the worst of her heat had finally subsided.
Zion sat beside her.
For several moments, neither of them spoke.
Amaris rested her head against his shoulder.
"I missed you."
Zion's arm immediately wrapped around her.
"I missed you too."
She closed her eyes, taking comfort in his familiar scent.
"You were gone for so long."
"I know."
"You promised you would come back."
"I did."
"And you did."
Zion kissed the top of her head.
"I'll always come back to you."
Amaris smiled faintly.
Then her expression became serious.
"What did Hyperion want?"
Zion knew there was no point hiding it from her.
"He asked us to help the Gods."
Amaris immediately frowned.
"Why?"
"Cronus."
Her body stiffened.
"My uncle?"
Zion nodded.
"He's trying to escape Tartarus."
Amaris stared at him.
