"What?" Ryley frowned. "What does that mean? Why would he want to destroy his own company?"
"My apologies, Your Highness. I haven't had the chance to investigate further," Maximilian replied. "If you'd like, I can have the new interim chairman—"
"No." Ryley stopped him. "There's no need." He hesitated for a moment. "...Thanks for letting me know, Max. I'll take it from here."
The call ended.
Ryley lowered his phone, his thoughts immediately drifting to Gabriel.
What happened...?
He exhaled quietly.
"I just hope Gabriel Hawk is okay... and that nothing's happened to his family."
"What is it, Your Highness?" Mitchell asked at once, his expression sharpening.
"I don't know, Mitch." Ryley walked over to the sink and turned on the tap, letting the cold water run over his hands. "And no matter how much I want to find out, we don't have the time to chase this right now."
He stared at the stream of water for a long moment.
"Not until our scientists in Japan get back to us..."
