Chapter 127 - Beyond the Final Bridge

The silver light vanished.

As if it had never existed.

Yet the feeling it left behind remained.

Heavy.

Uncomfortable.

Wrong.

Feroz continued staring into the darkness beyond the last bridge.

The lanterns hanging throughout the chamber still burned peacefully.

The Echo Well still whispered.

Nothing appeared different.

Yet somehow...

everything felt different.

Beside him, the older Feroz remained silent.

His eyes stayed fixed on the distant darkness.

Watching.

Waiting.

Listening.

Feroz finally broke the silence.

"What was that light?"

The older Feroz answered without looking away.

"I don't know."

Feroz immediately frowned.

"You don't know?"

"No."

The answer sounded genuine.

That disturbed him more than anything else.

The older Feroz always seemed prepared.

Always seemed aware of what was happening.

Now...

for the second time since entering the Hall...

he looked uncertain.

First when the golden figure appeared.

Now this.

Feroz slowly looked toward the endless bridges.

"What changed?"

The older Feroz finally turned toward him.

"Rahim moved."

"You already said that."

"Then listen carefully."

His voice remained calm.

But something beneath it had changed.

"Before today..."

"Most of the world was waiting."

The whispers below continued rising from the Echo Well.

The older Feroz continued.

"Guardians were waiting."

"The Threshold was waiting."

"The Free Masons were waiting."

"The Hidden Families were waiting."

"Even the Hall was waiting."

Feroz listened quietly.

"And now?"

The older Feroz lowered his eyes.

"Now the waiting is ending."

Silence followed.

Those words carried a weight Feroz could not fully understand.

Not yet.

Yet he could feel their importance.

The older Feroz stepped away from the Echo Well.

"The Learning Path brought you here for a reason."

Feroz followed.

They began crossing one of the ancient bridges.

Far below...

darkness stretched endlessly beneath them.

The lanterns drifted quietly through the air like golden stars.

Feroz looked around.

"Is this the final lesson?"

The older Feroz smiled faintly.

"No."

"Then how many are left?"

"That depends on you."

Feroz sighed.

"Of course it does."

The older version laughed softly.

Then they continued walking.

For several minutes...

only their footsteps echoed through the enormous chamber.

Eventually...

Feroz noticed something strange.

The bridges were changing.

The stone beneath his feet looked older.

Cracked.

Weathered.

As though fewer people had walked here.

The lanterns also became fewer.

Their golden light no longer reached every corner.

Darkness gathered between them.

Watching silently.

Feroz frowned.

"Has nobody been here?"

The older Feroz thought for a moment.

Then answered.

"Very few."

"Why?"

"Most never reach this far."

The answer made Feroz quiet.

He remembered the white chamber.

The nameless door.

The Path of Followers.

The Hall of Questions.

The Hall of Lives.

The Echo Well.

Every lesson had demanded something different.

Strength had never been enough.

Knowledge had never been enough.

Even courage had never been enough.

Each lesson demanded understanding.

And understanding was harder than power.

Far harder.

As they crossed another bridge...

Feroz noticed carvings along the stone rails.

Small symbols.

Hundreds of them.

Each one different.

"What are these?"

The older Feroz ran his fingers across the stone.

"Names."

Feroz blinked.

"Names?"

"Those who reached this place."

Feroz immediately looked closer.

The symbols seemed ancient.

Some glowed faintly.

Others were barely visible.

One symbol looked fresh.

Much newer than the others.

His eyes narrowed.

"Whose is this one?"

The older Feroz followed his gaze.

For a brief moment...

something unreadable crossed his face.

Then he smiled.

"Mine."

Feroz stared.

The symbol glowed softly beneath the lantern light.

Proof.

Proof that the older version of himself had once stood exactly where he stood now.

The realization felt strange.

Almost unsettling.

"What happened after you finished?"

The older Feroz looked ahead.

Toward the darkness waiting beyond the bridges.

His smile faded.

"That is a very dangerous question."

Feroz immediately became interested.

"Why?"

"Because every answer changes the path."

That answer sounded familiar.

Far too familiar.

Feroz folded his arms.

"You really enjoy saying things like that."

"Only because they're true."

The older version continued walking.

Feroz followed.

Yet his thoughts lingered on the answer.

Every answer changes the path.

Was that why the Hall hid so much?

Why the Learning Path rarely gave direct explanations?

Because knowledge itself could alter choices?

The idea unsettled him.

Ahead...

another platform emerged from the darkness.

Much larger than the bridges.

At its center stood a single stone arch.

No door.

No symbols.

No carvings.

Only an empty archway standing alone.

Feroz slowed.

The sight immediately felt familiar.

Not because he had seen it before.

Because it reminded him of something.

A threshold.

A crossing.

A beginning.

Or an ending.

The older Feroz stopped several steps away.

For the first time since leaving the Echo Well...

he looked completely serious.

No smile.

No humor.

Nothing.

Only focus.

Feroz immediately noticed.

"What is this place?"

The older Feroz looked toward the empty archway.

His answer came quietly.

"The place where the Learning Path stops teaching."

Silence.

Feroz stared.

"And then?"

The older Feroz slowly turned toward him.

His eyes held something unusual.

Not wisdom.

Not certainty.

Concern.

Real concern.

Then he answered.

"And where the real choices begin."

A cold wind suddenly swept across the platform.

The lanterns flickered.

Far behind them...

the whispers of the Echo Well seemed to fade.

For the first time since entering the Hall...

Feroz felt as though something outside the Learning Path was reaching toward him.

Something distant.

Something ancient.

Something that had finally noticed he was here.

And somewhere beyond the unseen world...

Rahim had already taken his first step.
