Chapter 17 - Awakening in Shadows

The night felt colder than before—

As if the air itself had changed.

Heavier.

Dark.

Feroz and Mrs. Aliya moved through the city streets.

Narrow paths.

Twisting alleys.

Like a maze.

Every corner—

Feroz felt it.

Eyes.

Watching.

Waiting.

His hands were shaking.

Not fully from fear—

But from what was inside him.

Something that had awakened.

Still buzzing under his skin.

Still not fully in control.

Not just the shadows.

Something deeper.

Inside him.

And then—

The name came back.

Free Mason.

Feroz spoke quietly.

"I… felt something back there."

A pause.

"It wasn't just fear."

"It was something else."

Mrs. Aliya looked at him.

Worried.

But didn't slow down.

"It's starting, Feroz."

"You are waking up."

Feroz frowned.

"Waking up to what?"

His voice echoed in the alley.

Louder than he meant.

She answered softly.

"To the truth of who you are."

Feroz clenched his fists.

The energy inside him still moving.

Still alive.

He had always felt different.

But not like this.

Not powerful.

Not dangerous.

They turned into another corner.

Mrs. Aliya suddenly pulled him down.

Behind an old building.

She crouched low.

Careful.

Watching.

Always watching.

"We can't stay here," she said.

"The Free Masons won't stop."

"They will keep sending shadows."

"And if they find Yusuf before us…"

Her voice stopped for a moment.

"We will be trapped."

Feroz heard the name again.

Free Masons.

Now it felt real.

Heavy.

Dangerous.

He finally asked.

"Who are they?"

His voice low.

Tired.

Angry.

Mrs. Aliya exhaled.

"They are a secret group."

"Very old."

"They control power, money, and politics."

"But that is not all."

"They hunt people like your father."

"And now you."

Feroz looked at her.

"Why me?"

"Why my family?"

Her voice lowered.

"Your bloodline."

"The Khan family is not normal."

"What your father had… what you are starting to show…"

"It runs in your blood."

A pause.

"For generations."

Feroz's stomach tightened.

"My uncle…"

He stopped.

Mrs. Aliya nodded slowly.

"Yes."

"He betrayed your father."

"He joined them."

Feroz felt it hit harder now.

Not just enemies.

Family.

Blood.

"Why?" he whispered.

"Power," she said simply.

"That is all they want."

Feroz looked down.

His hands still shaking.

"So they want to control me?"

Mrs. Aliya nodded.

"If they can control you…"

"They can control everything."

Silence fell.

Heavy.

Real.

Feroz whispered.

"What happens when my powers fully wake up?"

Mrs. Aliya hesitated.

Then spoke.

"It is different for everyone."

"But yours…"

A pause.

"Yours is stronger."

"More dangerous."

Feroz swallowed hard.

"And Yusuf?"

"He can help you," she said.

"But he is not simple."

"Not safe."

Feroz looked at the map in his hand.

Old.

Strange.

It felt like it was pulling him.

Like it knew the way already.

Suddenly—

A whisper.

Soft.

From the alley.

Mrs. Aliya froze.

Her face changed.

"They are here."

Feroz's heart jumped.

Shadows began to form again.

Along the walls.

More than before.

Many.

Moving together.

Slow.

Silent.

"We can't fight here," she said quickly.

"We run."

But Feroz didn't move.

Something inside him stopped him.

That same feeling.

Power rising again.

Stronger this time.

He closed his eyes.

He felt them.

The shadows.

Coming closer.

And inside him—

Something answered.

Light began to rise.

Slow at first.

Then stronger.

The shadows reached for him—

And suddenly—

Light burst out.

But not wild.

Not uncontrolled.

Focused.

Steady waves.

The shadows broke.

Faded into smoke.

Gone.

Feroz stood still.

Breathing hard.

His hands glowing faintly.

Mrs. Aliya stared.

"You are waking up faster than I thought."

Feroz looked at his hands.

"What is happening to me?"

His voice shook.

She placed a hand on him.

"Because they are pushing you."

"The Free Masons."

"The more they chase you…"

"The faster your power wakes."

A pause.

"But without control…"

"You could destroy everything."

Feroz stayed silent.

The power still moving inside him.

Restless.

Alive.

"We need Yusuf," she said.

"Now."

They ran again.

Into the night.

Fast.

But Feroz knew—

This was not the end.

The shadows would return.

Stronger next time.

And the Free Masons would not stop.

And somewhere close—

His uncle was not far.
