At that moment, one of the six creatures stopped circling around them.
It remained completely still for a few seconds, and then its entire body began to vibrate.
Conrad watched it carefully.
A moment later, a circular hole opened from the place where its mouth should have been. From that opening, a visible stream of aura emerged.
It looked like a kind of electrical and vibrational energy, roughly fifteen centimeters in length. The strange energy was immediately fired toward Conrad.
Conrad simply moved sideways.
The attack passed directly beside him and struck the tree behind him.
"Pzzzt!"
The moment the vibrational aura collided with the tree, the roughly thirty-five to forty-centimeter-thick trunk split apart.
The ten-meter-tall tree began falling toward the ground.
Conrad's eyes widened slightly.
Then he began to laugh softly.
For a brief moment, Lenfani thought Conrad had been impressed by the sheer destructive power of the attack.
That was not actually the reason.
What surprised Conrad was not the attack itself.
It was the way the creature had constructed and utilized its aura.
After carefully examining everything that had happened, Conrad had already begun thinking about the possible method through which the creature was using aura, as well as the conditions and limitations connected to it.
At that moment, another one of the creatures prepared to attack.
It did almost exactly the same thing.
The creature moved for a while, then stopped and began vibrating.
A few seconds later, the opening appeared again.
However, this time, the energy it released was smaller and had a noticeably bluer color.
Since Conrad was standing in front, the attacks were naturally focused on him.
This time, Conrad did not avoid the attack.
He gathered some aura around his hand and directly met the incoming energy.
The attack collided with him.
Other than a slight burning sensation, Conrad did not suffer much damage.
He took a deep breath.
"Now I can see and understand everything clearly."
"The Six-Legged Dogs are aura-based creatures. They are able to use "Aura" from instinct it is like an organ to them, similar to hands of a human or stinger of a bee.""
"They have two conditions for activating their attack."
"The first condition is that they need to move before attacking in order to store energy. The more they run and move, the more aura is accumulated inside their bodies and transferred toward what I assume is the mouth area."
"The second condition is that they have to stop for two or three seconds and vibrate in order to transform the accumulated energy into the energy wave they release."
"When both of these conditions are completed, the area that I assume functions as their mouth opens, and the attack is released."
Conrad smiled slightly.
"The creature that attacked first was much closer to the others. It was only about three or four meters away from them."
"Because of that, its attack was more purple, larger, and more powerful."
"The second dog that attacked was about seven meters away from the others. That caused its attack to appear weaker."
"This means that besides the conditions required for their Nen attack, being part of a pack also functions as a limitation."
"The more numerous they are and the closer they are to one another, the greater the resulting power."
"The more isolated and separated they are, the weaker the power becomes."
Conrad smiled.
"Really interesting."
The creatures continued moving around them.
At that moment, Lenfani spoke.
"Conrad, all of them have started moving. What should we do?"
She took a step backward.
The only reason she was not already running away was because Conrad was standing in front of her.
Lenfani had confidence in her own abilities, but she was not certain that she could fight all six of these creatures at the same time and kill them.
She was not confident that she could completely avoid every single attack.
She also knew that if she received the aura attack from the first creature directly with her body, she would suffer serious damage, even if she managed to defend herself with Nen.
Conrad took a light breath.
Then he reached toward his waist and pulled out his cane.
He took one step forward.
The moment he moved, he completely disappeared from Lenfani's field of vision.
"What?"
Lenfani could barely process what she had just seen.
For a single instant, she could not even believe that a person could move that quickly.
Then Conrad appeared in front of her again.
"Done."
He casually looked around.
At almost exactly the same moment that Conrad had moved, all six Six-Legged Dogs collapsed onto the ground.
None of them were dead.
However, every single one of them had a serious impact mark on the upper portion of its body.
Conrad had simply beaten all six of them unconscious within a few seconds.
Lenfani stood there silently.
She looked at the six creatures lying on the ground and then turned toward Conrad.
The entire fight had happened so quickly that she had barely been able to perceive what Conrad had done.
She had seen him take out his cane.
She had seen him step forward.
Then he disappeared.
"This should not be possible…"
"It is above human limitations…" she could not help but think.
And immediately afterward, all six creatures had fallen.
Conrad looked toward the unconscious creatures.
The creatures had been considerably weaker than him in almost every aspect.
Their aura output, control, physical ability, and understanding of Nen were all inferior to his.
Because of that, fighting them had never been a serious threat.
What interested him was the mechanism behind their abilities.
Their natural aura had been combined with conditions and limitations in a way that created a specialized hunting method.
And even their pack formation appeared to affect the final strength of the attack.
Conrad found that far more interesting than simply defeating them.
"If these conditions are naturally developed rather than artificially created, then their entire hunting system is essentially built around Nen limitations."
"Even without conscious human intelligence, they have developed a method where their aura becomes stronger because of restrictions."
"This also gives me some idea about what kind of creatures could be in the Dark Continent."
"If their physical capability is already above the human limits, considering their size and adding the fact that they are able to use aura naturally like they were born with it…"
"It would make sense why all visits to the Dark Continent ended in huge defeat and massacre for the humans."
"This is exactly the kind of thing I should be paying attention to."
Conrad looked at the creatures again.
"Natural Nen users are fundamentally different from human Nen users."
"Humans generally develop abilities through conscious thought, training, and personal desires."
"But creatures like these can develop their own systems through instinct."
"That means their limitations are not necessarily something they consciously created."
"They simply evolved around them."
Conrad remained silent for a moment.
Then he turned toward Lenfani.
"We can continue."
Lenfani looked at him.
"You really are not going to do anything else with them?"
Conrad shook his head.
"There is no reason to."
"They are unconscious, not dead."
"If we spend more time here, we will only be wasting time. I dont like killing without a good reason and there is nothing to gain from killing these creatures."
Lenfani nodded.
She looked back toward the six creatures one more time before following Conrad.
As they began moving again, Conrad continued thinking.
The Hunter world contained countless examples of Nen being used in ways that humans might never naturally consider.
Conrad had already understood many principles of Nen through his own experience.
However, understanding a principle and seeing countless different applications of that principle were two completely different things.
The more examples he observed, the more accurately he could understand the boundaries of Nen.
And the more accurately he understood those boundaries, the more effectively he could develop his own abilities.
