Chapter 7 - 7 The Storage box

Haru figured it was best to gather as much information as possible. If it was true that he could only contact Dimitri a limited number of times, he needed to be well-prepared.

"Well, young man, in all my years as a healing mage, this situation is quite unique and frankly unprecedented. You became very sick about three months ago. I'm the Kingdom's top healing mage, employed by the King himself and even my magic would not heal you. A very mysterious case indeed. You were in a deep sleep until yesterday. You..." He hesitated. "You died. You can see why we'd be a little shocked. Then today, we come in and you're up from the dead. A miracle!"

Haru found the timeline odd, but if the realms operated independently, the situations couldn't be related. Or could they? He then looked up and asked, "What is your name?"

The man seemed a bit stunned. "Well, I'm Gorin. Also, if I may..." He slowly reached toward Haruto's head. Haru suddenly felt a feeling of good intention. What was that? Was it a side effect of his body? He'd look into it later and allowed the man to continue. After a few moments, the mage began to sweat profusely. He opened his eyes in amazement and awe and let out a deep sigh of frustration. "I can't see it." He stood, mouth agape, as if he couldn't believe it.

"Wait... What's wrong?" Haru asked, as did his mother.

"Apologies, let me explain. See, as you were in your sleep, I placed a healing magic formation inside your body. It allowed me to observe your magic core and any changes. But it's gone. The magic formation is gone."

Haru's mother didn't seem to understand. "Why is that a bad thing, Gorin?"

"I can't see it. I can't see any of it. The formation, the magic core. I cannot grasp anything regarding your magical abilities. Only high-level mages can block a mage of my level from using insight."

Haru's mother grew uncomfortable suddenly. "Well, Sir Gorin, my boy is awake and seemingly well, so let's focus on the positives."

Gorin took a deep breath. "You're right. This is a joyous occasion. I'll report back to the King at once about the boy's condition and recovery." He then looked at Haru. "Young man, please take it easy. Your body was bedridden for months; muscle atrophy is a real thing so it may take you some time to get your feet under you."

Haru nodded intently. He had no idea that the divine blessing mark he received was the reason Gorin could not view his magic core.

Once Gorin departed, his mother could not stop hugging him and he let her. It had been months since he felt his mother embrace. He lost it once and never wanted to forget the feeling again. Then something struck him. "By the way, where is Dad?"

His mother let go as if she had completely forgotten. She had been so caught in the moment that she forgot to tell Gorin to send word to her husband. "He is adventuring, looking for a cure for you. When you fell ill, he left immediately, taking three of his closest Warlords with him. He left his guild and vowed he would not return until he found a way."

This statement made Haru's eyes tear up again. Just like in his world, his dad was doing everything he could for him. He felt proud.

Once the excitement died down, his mother left to gather vegetables for dinner. She was going to cook a celebratory feast.

Haru decided to use this time to explore the surroundings around his house. As he walked outside, he noticed his house was in the middle of a forest. His family must have lived on the outskirts of the Kingdom. It wasn't as isolated as he could still see other houses and people off in the distance. He then remembered the box Dimitri gave him and decided to pull it out. As if reading his mind, the box materialized. Could the box work through telepathy?

He wondered if it worked on the same principle and thought to himself, "Open."

The box's contents appeared as a screen in front of Haru, almost making him stumble back. Suddenly he felt fear and panicked as he immediately looked around to ensure no one saw what he had just done. He finally caught his breath, and began to read over the contents. Once he did, his mouth hung open and he could only inwardly shake his head.

'What the shit!'

Haru's mouth hung open, as he stared at the contents of the box. This was no ordinary storage box, it was a treasure trove of tools and resources. He knew he had to be careful. Not only would he have to use them wisely, but he'd have to ensure he was careful not to draw attention to himself. He wasn't yet sure of the currency here, but anything in the thousands couldn't be a insignificant amount. He sat and pondered wondering what this would could potentially have in store for him as he could see kids playing off in the distance.

'Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you all. I'll figure out what's going on and use everything in my power to stop it!'
