The group stayed in the Serenade Faction for a few more days so Grey could recover from the injuries he had sustained during the fight with the Peak Sovereign at the first camp. The dull ache in his shoulder and the lingering strain along his ribs gradually faded under rest and careful circulation of essence. By the time they prepared to leave, he was close to full strength again.
After leaving the Serenade Faction, Grey and Reynolds traveled through the surrounding region. The change was immediately noticeable. Gnome activity had dropped sharply, almost as if the enemy had gone into hiding. This was the same pattern that followed every region where Grey had appeared and fought. Once the Gnomes became aware of his presence, they withdrew. With him on the field the humans grew bolder and launched direct assaults on the camps, resulting in heavy casualties for the Gnomes each time.
