"You're still up," Julian said. "I thought you were asleep."
"How's Mom?"
"She's exhausted. I had Mr. Du stay with her at the hospital. I'm back to sleep for a while."
"I said I would stay, but she didn't want me to," Scarlett said. "You've had a rough time."
Julian laughed, "Mom told me you cornered her about Vivian's affairs."
The reason Julian told Scarlett this was because he never treated her as an outsider; he spoke his mind freely.
"..." Scarlett felt a bit wronged after hearing this. "When did I corner her? I just wanted her to talk about her and Vivian's affairs. Why is she so afraid of me? I'm not going to eat her."
Julian said, "She knows you're close to Vivian. There's definitely an issue of her own. She feels guilty, so she doesn't want to talk about it. Don't press her any further."
