Valter's phone call interrupted our discussion. I asked Mr. Ben and Manager Lie for a moment to let me answer the phone. Manager Lie and Mr. Ben then continued their conversation on the sofa without me. I slowly moved away from them so I could speak freely with Valter.
The number that appeared wasn't Valter's usual number, but I could confirm it was Valter. Not many people know my phone number.
"Hello, honey," Valter said from the other end.
"Hello," I couldn't wait to bombard him with questions about why he only contacted me via email and how his phone had failed. Fuft... it had only been two days since I left, and my life felt so miserable. Valter's calm tone and the vibration of his voice made me want to hug him. I missed him.
"Sorry I just got back to you now. I don't understand what happened to my phone. The screen just went black. I had to switch to a manual phone and SIM card, which is why I called with a Finnish number."
