Although my body was tired, my heart and spirit were not. With my morning enthusiasm, I was already in the office long before my employees arrived. I set a good example, even though I knew it wouldn't make much of a difference. German employees generally have above-average dedication, most of them highly professional and punctual workaholics, with a high level of efficiency.
So, issues like being late, unexcused absences, fake sick notes, poor performance, or slow work results aren't the main issues here.
Valter left a message in my email, which I read this morning. Apparently, there was a problem with his phone and he hadn't had time to replace it. It was a relief to know he was okay. I'd been restless since last night, worried something bad had happened to him.
