Chapter 197 - Chapter 197: The Spirit's Proposal

Fang Lin lay on the cold stone of his courtyard, his chest heaving as he stared internally at his newly evolved Dantian.

The pain of the Second Extreme Revolution was already fading, as the Life Core rotated, replaced by a profound, heavy physical strength that radiated through his Asura Flesh. His body felt boundless. Yet, his attention was completely captivated by the anomaly in his center.

Next to the spinning Frost, Life, and Death cores, an empty fourth spatial pocket had been violently torn open, connected directly to a brand new parallel meridian that snaked through his body like a dry riverbed.

*"Fascinating,"* a raspy, ancient voice echoed in his mind.

In the center of his Spiritual Sea, the Dark Flame Spirit had manifested fully. It hovered above the Ancient Spatial Furnace, its formless black fire twisting in a display of intense calculation.

"What happened?" Fang Lin asked, his mental voice tight with caution. "The Chaos Phantom Extreme Physique was only supposed to fold space to isolate the cores I already have. It wasn't supposed to rip open a new void."

*"The physique performed exactly as intended,"* the Dark Flame Spirit replied, its tone dripping with a mixture of mockery and awe. *"It folded space around your established meridians. The problem, little monster, is that your meridians are an abomination."*

Fang Lin frowned, remembering his time in the Mansion Palace. He had abandoned the standard cultivation path, violently altering his internal architecture to forge the *Tri-River Meridian* system, a necessary foundation to support the opposing forces of Life and Death.

*"When the supreme cosmic fuel folded space around your Dantian,"* the Spirit continued, *"it collided with the rigid, unnatural structure of your three rivers. Unable to safely bypass them, the spatial folding ripped a new path entirely to equalize the pressure. You have inadvertently mutated the Supreme Constitution."*

The Dark Flame Spirit descended slightly, its presence looming over Fang Lin's consciousness. *"Look closely at that void, boy. It is perfectly isolated. It is perfectly stable. And it is entirely empty."*

Fang Lin's heart skipped a beat as the realization hit him. "A fourth core."

*"A Tetra-Core,"* the Spirit corrected, the fire crackling with manic energy. *"A structural impossibility. To house four complete elemental laws without Dantian collapse... it defies the very heavens. But that empty riverbed... it is begging to be filled."*

Fang Lin slowly sat up in the physical world. He looked at the Abyssal Flame Core-Stone resting on the anvil a few feet away. It was a Heavenly-grade material, overflowing with ancient, hyper-dense fire essence.

He had intended to use it to strengthen his foundation. He had never considered turning it into a core.

*"I have a proposal,"* the Dark Flame Spirit hissed, sensing his hesitation. *"That Core-Stone is a perfect physical vessel, but its fire is mundane. It lacks the destructive supremacy of my origin. If you attempt to condense a standard fire core, you will waste this miracle."*

The black fire in his Spiritual Sea surged outward, forming a pair of burning, formless eyes.

*"Let us make a deal, Fang Lin. I will sever a thread of my true Origin Essence—my actual, world-burning black fire. I will grant it to you. You will use the Core-Stone as the physical anchor to contain my essence, and together, we will forge a Dark Flame Core to fill that void."*

Fang Lin's eyes narrowed. "Why would you give me your true essence? If I condense a core from your origin, it becomes mine. You lose a piece of your true self."

*"Because a parasite cannot survive if the host remains weak!"* the Spirit roared, a rare flash of genuine frustration breaking its arrogant demeanor. *"You are walking a path that attracts the eyes of Sovereigns! If you die, I perish with you! The Grey Seed will not save me! If you possess a Tetra-Core, if you forge my flame into your very foundation, we will both ascend beyond this prison! And of course, even I am not sure if this works. It's just a possibility, a risk that you will have to take."*

Fang Lin stared at the black flames in his mind. The Spirit was chaotic, predatory, and dangerous. But in this moment, its logic was absolute.

"Agreed," Fang Lin said.

He didn't hesitate. He stood up, walked to the anvil, and placed both hands over the Abyssal Flame Core-Stone.

With a brutal surge of his Asura Flesh, Fang Lin crushed his hands inward.

*CRACK!*

The Heavenly-grade stone shattered. Instantly, a terrifying wave of ancient fire essence exploded outward, but Fang Lin inhaled sharply, using the newly formed fourth parallel meridian to forcefully suck the raw fire essence directly into his Dantian.

The fire flooded into the empty spatial pocket, roaring with violent heat, desperately trying to establish a center.

At that exact moment, a sharp, agonizing tear occurred in his Spiritual Sea.

The Dark Flame Spirit let out a shriek that was half pain, half triumph. It had literally severed a microscopic piece of its own core being. A single, hair-thin thread of pure, unadulterated black fire detached from the Spirit and shot down into Fang Lin's body.

The true Origin Essence of the Dark Flame entered the spatial pocket.

It collided with the swirling red essence of the Core-Stone.

The reaction was catastrophic. The two supreme flames violently rejected one another, the black fire attempting to devour the red, while the dense Abyssal fire desperately tried to burn the invader away. The sheer thermal pressure threatened to melt the spatial pocket entirely.

"Soul Metamorphosis!" Fang Lin roared.

From his glabella, thousands of semi-transparent, crystalline soul threads shot downward, diving directly into the burning spatial pocket. Fang Lin used his immense soul strength as a physical binding agent, wrapping the threads around the warring flames, forcefully compressing them together.

In the past, when he had forged the Tri-Core system, the Mansion Spirit had been forced to set up an elaborate, highly dangerous external array to keep his Dantian from collapsing under the elemental pressure.

This time, Fang Lin required no such crutch.

As the new flame fought violently to explode, his existing Tri-Core system reacted. The Frost Core flared, casting an absolute, chilling stillness that slowed the violent molecular vibration of the fire. The Life Core pulsed, instantly repairing the microscopic burns occurring along the edges of the spatial pocket. And the Death Core radiated a deep, gravitational darkness, locking the space in place.

His Tri-Core system was already perfectly balanced. It acted as an immovable, flawless anchor, keeping his Dantian completely stable amidst the chaotic birth of the fourth flame.

Fang Lin gritted his teeth, his eyes glowing with an intense, violet-red light as he ruthlessly compressed the two essences.

The true forging had only just begun.
