Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Vivid Dream (I)

The sea around the home island began to warp.

At first, it was subtle. Then the air itself seemed to bend as a massive ionized dome expanded outward, crackling with energy. Lightning arced across its surface, illuminating the ocean in flashes of blue-white light.

Then the first shape emerged.

Orochi.

The massive super battleship forced its way back into reality, its broken hull still scorched and fractured from the battle. Even damaged, it towered over the waters like a fallen titan returning from the abyss.

Moments later, more distortions rippled across the sea.

One by one, sixteen ships materialized in formation behind it.

The GDI First Fleet had returned.

The glow of the Chronoshift slowly faded as the ocean calmed, leaving the fleet anchored safely around the island.

For a brief moment, no one spoke.

Enterprise stepped forward slightly, her eyes fixed on the island that used to be her home from the command room.

"This place has changed…"

Her voice carried quiet disbelief.

What once stood as the Azur Lane prime base was no longer recognizable.

In its place rose something entirely different.

Towering defense structures lined the coastline, their systems already active. Missile batteries stood ready. Anti-air arrays rotated with mechanical precision, scanning the skies constantly.

Above everything, a massive dome shield shimmered faintly, enclosing the entire island.

Inside, new buildings stretched across the land in organized precision. Advanced facilities, infrastructure, and systems far beyond what they once had.

At the center stood a massive citadel.

Half completed, yet already overwhelming in presence.

Vestal stared in silence beside Enterprise.

"This… this is far beyond anything we had…"

Yuuki stepped forward, hands in his coat pockets.

"Yeah," he said simply. "This is where I found Yorktown and Laffey."

His gaze swept across the island.

"I took the base and rebuilt it. The old setup wasn't going to cut it anymore."

He turned slightly toward them.

"So welcome back."

A faint smile appeared.

"To your former home."

His tone shifted, firmer now.

"Welcome to the GDI Earth Division base."

Enterprise looked at him.

"Earth Division?"

Yuuki nodded.

"We don't just operate on this planet."

He tilted his head slightly upward.

"There's a Space Division too."

A brief pause.

"There's a fleet up there right now. About ten times larger than Orochi."

Silence followed.

Enterprise didn't respond immediately.

Vestal blinked, trying to process it.

The others exchanged glances.

Because this was no longer just a rebuilt base.

It was something far greater.

And they had just stepped into it.

============

As the Chronoshift energy fully dissipated, something else descended from above the clouds.

Three colossal silhouettes.

They moved with controlled precision, engines humming with a deep, resonant tone that vibrated through the air itself.

Repair craft.

But not like anything they had ever seen.

Each one was enormous, easily a quarter the size of Orochi itself. Their hulls unfolded mid-air, revealing massive articulated arms, emitter arrays, and drone bays that began deploying swarms of repair units.

Enterprise stopped walking.

"…That's… a repair vessel?"

Vestal's eyes widened, completely locked onto the sight.

"…That's not a repair vessel… that's an entire mobile dockyard…"

Unicorn held onto her U-chan, staring upward in awe.

"…It's… so big…"

The three Archangel-class repair crafts positioned themselves around Orochi, stabilizing in the air before beams of structured light and mechanical arms began their work.

Sections of the super battleship were already being reconstructed. Torn plating was realigned. Weapons rebuilt, some even take samples. Internal systems were scanned and mapped.

One of the drones lift intact samples of the Orochi Jet drones and the Fritz-X ICBM cruise missiles. Probably needed by Vergil to be studied once the drones get them to MCV's space uplink, ready to be transported to GDSS Philadelphia via drop pod.

The process was fast.

Efficient.

Almost unreal.

Vestal didn't even try to hide her excitement anymore.

"I need to study that."

Yuuki simply walked past them.

"Later."

Once landed on the grounds of the Home Island, drones began deploying stretches made of Ionized energy. The legions began placing the unconscious shipgirls before following Yuuki toward the Medical Center.

The hospital of the Home Island.

The doors opened.

And Vestal stopped again.

"…This…"

The health center stretched far beyond what any of them expected. Rows upon rows of advanced med bays extended across multiple levels. Diagnostic systems, automated treatment units, surgical platforms, regenerative pods filled the space. Everything was pristine, organized, and ready.

Hundreds of stations.

Her eyes sparkled.

"…Commander… this place is incredible…"

Then her expression shifted slightly.

"…But… there's not enough staff to run all of this."

She glanced around, already planning.

"…I'm going to need people."

Yuuki nodded.

"Then make a list later. I am sure we can find suitable staffs in the future."

Inside, several familiar figures rested once placed on the soft med bay bed.

Akagi and Kaga lay stabilized and recovering, their breathing steady, their bodies fully restored.

Nearby, Prince of Wales, San Diego, and Eldridge rested peacefully, no longer in danger.

And beside them, Nimi lay quietly, finally reunited with the fleet.

After confirming their condition, Yuuki left them under Vestal's care.

Belfast and Illustrious stepped forward.

"This way, please," Belfast said, guiding the others.

They were led toward their temporary quarters inside the MCV.

Doors opened.

Rooms revealed.

Each space was large, fully furnished, and private. More than a room, it was a complete living space designed for comfort and long-term use. It was like a personal luxurious apartment.

Enterprise stepped inside one slowly, looking around.

"…This is temporary?"

Illustrious smiled gently.

"Indeed. Our permanent residence will be in the citadel once it completes."

Enterprise nodded. To think even personal rooms are luxurious.

============

Elsewhere, Yuuki entered the command room with Yorktown.

The recovered Wisdom Cubes floated within controlled ion fields, suspended mid-air in perfect alignment.

He began placing them carefully.

Ironblood.

Royal Navy.

Eagle Union.

Sakura Empire.

Each cube positioned with intent.

Among them, Hood's cube rested with the Royal Navy group.

Yorktown stepped forward and placed another beside it.

Hornet.

Her hand lingered for a moment before she stepped back.

Yuuki said nothing.

He understood.

Finally, he placed Amagi's cube among the Sakura Empire group.

The faint glow pulsed softly, stable and alive.

The room fell silent.

Not empty.

But full of presence.

Yuuki looked at them all, then exhaled quietly.

"…Alright."

============

Yuuki stood at the edge of the command tower of the MCV, eyes fixed on the massive silhouette in the distance.

Orochi no longer looked like a battlefield threat.

It looked like a prize.

A hologram expanded before him, projecting a full structural model of the super battleship. Layers of data unfolded across the display—damage reports, reconstruction progress, integration timelines.

Around the real vessel, Archangel repair platforms and drones swarmed in coordinated motion. Sections of the hull that had been shattered were already reforming under advanced reconstruction systems. Armor plating regenerated, internal frameworks realigned, and entire weapon mounts were rebuilt with precision.

It was not just repair.

It was transformation.

"The restoration rate is exceeding projections," Vergil's voice came through the channel. "We are not just fixing it. We are rewriting it. Damn, I can't wait to get those weapons up here and researched ASAP."

Yuuki watched as one of the former main gun turrets completed reconstruction. The original structure locked into place—

Then immediately began disassembly again.

"Salvage what is useful. Replace what is not," Yuuki said.

Vergil chuckled lightly.

"Already doing that."

Panels shifted across the hologram.

The original 460mm cannons were marked for removal.

"Those guns are outdated," Vergil said. "We are upgrading them to full GDI railgun systems."

Yuuki nodded.

"Good. No point keeping antiques."

Another section highlighted.

"Railguns currently installed are being scrapped," Vergil continued. "They are inefficient compared to our models."

"We can replace them entirely," Yuuki replied. "I want full output capability."

Missile systems were next.

The Fritz-X payloads were isolated in the schematic.

"We secured several intact units," Vergil said. "These things are interesting once we up the firepower."

Yuuki's eyes narrowed slightly.

"They punched through a radiation barrier," he said. "That alone makes them worth studying."

Vergil agreed.

"We will reverse engineer the penetration mechanics. Barrier-breaking capability is too valuable to ignore."

Further upgrades began to populate the display.

"AA systems are being replaced with tungsten-armored battery arrays," Vergil added.

Yuuki smirked faintly.

"Nothing is getting through that."

"Guardian Grand Cannons will replace smaller caliber weapons," Vergil continued. "Higher output, better saturation."

"Do it," Yuuki said.

Missile defense layers expanded.

"Missile turrets and Falcon MLRS systems will form the anti-air and interception grid."

"Layered defense," Yuuki noted.

"Exactly."

Then—

The main weapon systems.

Vergil paused slightly.

"We are installing Prism Focus Beam arrays as primary side weapons."

Yuuki raised an eyebrow.

"…Now that is overkill."

"And a Crystal Shield generator for full barrier coverage," Vergil added.

Yuuki nodded.

"Make it durable. I do not want a repeat of earlier."

"Skystrike Artillery is also being integrated for long-range bombardment," Vergil finished.

The hologram stabilized.

The new Orochi—

Was no longer the same ship.

It was stronger.

Faster.

More efficient.

More dangerous.

Yuuki crossed his arms, studying it.

"…With all this," he said, "it is going to be far more powerful than it ever was fifteen years ago."

Vergil did not disagree.

"It will not just surpass its original form," he said. "It will redefine it. Soon, it will be a grand flagship of the Second Fleet."

Outside, the real Orochi continued its transformation.

Damaged sections replaced.

Weapon systems upgraded.

Structure reinforced.

Then—

The final change.

The hull shifted color.

Orange plating with yellow glowing linings spread across the surface, replacing the old worn exterior. Lines of GDI design integrated seamlessly into its massive frame.

And above it—

A new flag rose.

The crest of the Global Defense Initiative. The prideful Diving Eagle.

Yuuki watched it in silence for a moment.

"…Not bad," he said.

Because what once was a weapon of destruction—

Had just become—

A weapon under his command.

Yuuki continued studying the live reconstruction feed, the scale of Orochi's transformation becoming clearer with every passing minute.

The flight deck expanded across the hologram.

Then split.

Then layered.

"This thing wasn't just built for intimidation," Yuuki said quietly. "It was built for sustained operations."

Vergil brought up the runway schematics.

"Two primary runways," he confirmed. "Each one large enough to accommodate four Harbinger Gunships simultaneously."

Yuuki let out a low whistle.

"That is not a carrier," he said. "That is a mobile airbase."

"And that is before modifications," Vergil added.

The projection updated again.

Reinforced hangar bays.

Expanded storage grids.

Internal launch systems.

"With adjustments, we can house Orcas and Firehawks in large numbers, even Harbinger Gunships and bombers." Vergil continued. "Deployment cycles will be faster than anything we currently have."

Yuuki nodded slowly.

"Air dominance from a single platform," he said. "That alone changes the battlefield."

Another layer of data unfolded beneath the hull.

Two massive internal structures.

Hidden.

Protected.

"Naval shipyards," Vergil said.

"Built into the hull itself."

Yuuki's eyes sharpened.

"…So it really was a self-sustaining war machine."

Vergil smirked.

"You have no idea," he replied. "We used the Chrono Prison to extract intact samples and full schematics."

The data expanded—production lines, assembly speeds, output ratios.

"At full capacity, these shipyards can produce units at a terrifying rate," he added. "Faster than anything we have ever encountered."

Yuuki crossed his arms.

"…Good."

Because that meant one thing.

"With improvements," he said, "those drones will be ours."

Vergil nodded.

"Upgraded Orochi drones," he said. "Better armor, smarter targeting, integrated with GDI systems."

He paused briefly.

"…It will be overwhelming."

Yuuki smirked faintly.

"That is the idea."

The projection shifted again.

This time—

To the core.

"The main reactor is still intact," Vergil said. "But we are keeping it as is after repairing and fixing it. Maybe a little addition."

Yuuki tilted his head slightly.

"What are you adding it with?"

Vergil answered immediately.

"Advanced New Element Arc Reactor."

Yuuki's expression sharpened.

"…That will push its output beyond original limits."

"By a significant margin," Vergil confirmed. "More stable. More efficient. More powerful."

Then—

The most important part.

"The control system," Vergil continued.

The hologram zoomed inward.

At the center—

A black cube.

Yuuki's eyes narrowed.

"…So that is the brain."

Vergil's tone shifted slightly.

"Yes," he said. "A Siren-derived black cube. It governs the entire system."

A brief pause followed.

"We are removing it. We can't risk the cube taking control of our upgrades."

Yuuki nodded.

"No hesitation."

"It will be replaced," Vergil said, "with a JARVIS-integrated core. So, JARVIS can watch over the system,"

Yuuki smirked slightly.

"…Now that is an upgrade. You okay with it JARVIS?"

"I am aware, sir." JARVIS spoke around him.

Because that meant control.

Not instability.

Not corruption.

Precision.

The hologram stabilized again, now showing the full scope of changes.

Weapons upgraded.

Systems replaced.

Structure reinforced.

Control rewritten.

Yuuki did not look away from the projection as new layers of possibility unfolded in his mind. The current retrofit already pushed Orochi beyond anything it had ever been, but he was not thinking about restoration anymore.

He was thinking about doctrine.

He expanded the hologram again and began marking additional systems.

"Two Proton Collider mounts," he said, almost to himself. "Not external platforms. Integrated."

Vergil did not immediately respond.

"…You are serious?"

Yuuki nodded slightly.

"If this ship is going to be a flagship, it needs decisive force projection," he said. "Not just battlefield control. Strategic-level deterrence."

The projection updated, showing potential mounting points along Orochi's dorsal structure.

"Paired with Vacuum Imploder missile systems," he added. "Area denial and collapse capability."

Vergil leaned back, processing.

"That combination alone would let this ship erase fleets," he said.

Yuuki's expression remained calm.

"That is the point."

He continued.

"Add a Chronosphere," he said. "Short-range battlefield repositioning. Tactical insertion or extraction."

Vergil exhaled slowly.

"You are turning it into a mobile war doctrine."

"And an Iron Curtain Defense System," Yuuki added. "Temporary invulnerability during critical operations."

The hologram shifted again, layering defensive matrices over the already reinforced structure.

Vergil rubbed his temple.

"…You are stacking systems that were never meant to coexist on a single platform."

Yuuki smirked faintly.

"Good thing this platform was never meant to exist either."

He wasn't finished.

"Install a compact Nanoswarm Hive," he said. "Updated version. Autonomous repair and offensive swarm capability. Emergency shield if we need it."

The projection filled with micro-unit deployment paths.

"Continuous battlefield presence," Yuuki continued. "Self-repair, suppression, harassment."

Vergil nodded slowly now.

"That… actually complements the shipyard systems," he admitted. "Macro and micro production working together."

Yuuki's gaze sharpened slightly.

"And one more thing."

The hologram shifted again.

A final system.

"The Psionic Decimator," Yuuki said.

Vergil froze for a second.

"…You are not serious."

Yuuki remained calm.

"We already improved the design," he said. "No psionic clones required anymore."

Vergil stared at the projection.

"…That thing was borderline uncontrollable even before."

"And now it isn't," Yuuki replied.

Silence followed.

Because they both understood what that meant.

"If we install that on Orochi," Vergil said slowly, "this ship becomes more than a flagship."

Yuuki finished the thought.

"It becomes a superpower."

The hologram now displayed the fully conceptualized Orochi.

Weapons layered over weapons.

Systems supporting systems.

Offense, defense, control, and sustain—

All in one entity.

But Yuuki did not give the final command.

Not yet.

"…There is a condition," he said.

Vergil looked up.

Yuuki's tone hardened.

"We do not activate any of these systems," he said, "until we are absolutely certain the ship is clean."

The hologram zoomed into the core again.

The black cube.

"No Siren control," Yuuki continued. "No hidden overrides. No external influence."

Vergil nodded immediately.

"Full purge and validation," he said. "Understood. Won't let that superweapon fall into the wrong hands."

Yuuki added one final point.

"And control goes to JARVIS," he said.

The projection updated again.

The black cube faded.

Replaced by a new core.

Controlled.

Stable.

Loyal.

Yuuki folded his arms.

"…Only then do we turn this thing into what it is meant to be."

Vergil smirked slightly.

"…A Hyper Super-tier flagship. Just like our big girl, The Advanced GDSS Paradox Engine."

Yuuki didn't deny it.

Because that was exactly what he was building. A ship almost the same level as the flying gargantuan fortress currently in hibernation in space.

Outside, thousands of repair drones swarmed across Orochi's surface, working in synchronized patterns. Damaged plating was stripped away and replaced. Internal systems were reassembled at an accelerated pace.

Even the Manjuus had joined in, moving alongside the drones, assisting with assembly and transport as if they had always belonged in such an operation.

Yuuki watched them for a moment.

"…Everyone is working together."

Vergil chuckled.

"Even the little guys are pulling their weight."

Yuuki's gaze returned to the ship.

"…How long?"

Vergil checked the projections.

"Full reconstruction and upgrade timeline—approximately one month."

Yuuki nodded once.

A month.

When it was done—

This would not just be Orochi anymore.

It would be something far greater.

A flagship.

A fortress.

A factory.

A superweapon.

A superpower

All under one banner.

Yuuki looked at the rising GDI crest on its hull again.

"GDS Orochi."

"…Not a bad name," he said.

Because once it was complete—

Nothing on this battlefield would be able to stand against it.

Not even the sirens.

===================

Yuuki let out a quiet sigh as he stirred the pot, the steady rhythm of cooking grounding him far more than any battlefield ever could.

"Sigh… you girls really like hanging out here," he said, glancing over his shoulder.

The space around him felt less like a command center and more like a lived-in home. His quarters on the MCV were large enough to accommodate all of them comfortably, and somehow, they had all found their way here again.

His personal quarters. His current home.

Yorktown stood nearby, leaning slightly against the counter with a relaxed smile as she waited for the roasted chicken to be perfectly cooked.

"We like hanging out with you," she said simply.

There was no hesitation in her voice.

Belfast moved with quiet precision beside him, assisting without needing instruction. Ingredients were prepared before he asked, utensils handed over at the exact moment he needed them.

"That is correct, Master," she added, her tone warm but composed. "We are particularly fond of your cooking."

Enterprise stood close as well, arms lightly crossed, though her attention never strayed far from what Yuuki was doing. She did not say much, but the way she stayed said enough.

Across the room, Atago and Takao had taken over drinks. Mainly blending fruits to create juice.

Atago hummed softly as she mixed something with a playful expression.

"Ufufu… a meal like this deserves proper drinks," she said.

Takao sighed quietly beside her, though she was just as focused.

"Atago-nee… do not overdo it," she said, even as she carefully prepared another glass.

Illustrious stood near the preparation table, handling ingredients with elegance that made even simple tasks look refined with Unicorn helping her.

"My, this is quite enjoyable," she said softly. "It feels… peaceful."

And then—

There was Laffey.

Head resting on the table.

Completely unbothered.

"…Commander… smells nice…" she murmured sleepily, barely lifting her head.

Yuuki glanced around at all of them.

For a moment—

No war.

No Orochi.

No Sirens.

Just this.

He shook his head slightly, though there was a faint smile this time.

"…You all just come here like it's your own place."

Yorktown chuckled softly.

"Is that a problem?"

Yuuki turned back to the stove.

"…No."

He paused briefly.

"…Not really. It's nice having company, Hana."

Yorktown lingered just a little closer than before, the warmth from the stove brushing against her as she watched Yuuki cook. There was a softness in her expression that rarely appeared during operations, her usual composure replaced by something quieter, more personal. A faint blush rested on her cheeks, but she did not step away.

Belfast noticed immediately.

Without a word, she adjusted her position, closing the distance on Yuuki's other side with practiced subtlety. Her movements were refined as always, but there was intent behind them now. If Yorktown intended to stay close, then she would not yield that space so easily.

Enterprise said nothing.

She simply stepped in as well.

Close enough to observe.

Close enough to be there.

Her presence was calm, steady, but unmistakably deliberate.

Across the room, Atago puffed her cheeks slightly.

"Shikikan-sama is being surrounded…" she muttered, clearly dissatisfied as she puffed her cheeks.

Takao, standing beside her, mirrored the expression more subtly, though she tried to maintain composure.

"…Atago-nee, please control yourself," she said, even as her own gaze lingered a bit too long.

Illustrious watched the scene unfold and let out a soft sigh, though her smile never faded.

"My, my… how lively," she said gently.

She had already made her move earlier.

The seat closest to Yuuki—

Reserved.

Secured.

No one had even noticed when she did it.

And then—

Laffey stirred.

Slowly.

Lazily.

She lifted her head just enough to look around, then quietly stood up.

Without a word, she walked over.

And claimed her place.

Right on Yuuki's lap.

"…Commander pillow…" she murmured, settling in comfortably as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

Yuuki froze for a brief second.

"…Laffey."

She did not move.

Did not respond.

Already comfortable.

The others paused.

Yorktown blinked.

Belfast's expression twitched ever so slightly.

Enterprise looked away for a moment, adjusting her cap.

Atago's cheeks puffed even more.

Takao sighed.

Illustrious covered her lips with a soft laugh.

And then—

The door opened.

Vestal stepped in, brushing a strand of hair back as she entered.

"I finished checking on the girls," she said, her tone light but slightly tired. "All stable."

Her eyes scanned the room—

Then softened.

"…Ah."

The atmosphere.

Warm.

Lively.

Full.

She smiled.

"I was wondering where everyone went," she said. "I never knew the commander's quarters is a nice place. A luxurious apartment like our rooms."

She stepped inside fully, glancing around at the scene—the cooking, the closeness, the quiet competition none of them openly acknowledged.

"…This is nice. I should hang out here from now on."

Yuuki exhaled slowly, trying to ignore the weight currently sitting on him.

"…You too?" he muttered.

Vestal chuckled softly as she moved closer.

"I just wanted to take a break," she said. "And maybe explore more of your equipment later."

Her eyes sparkled slightly.

"You have no idea how advanced your medical systems are."

Yuuki shook his head slightly.

"…Of course that's what you're excited about."

Vestal smiled as she eyes competition around her.

"Of course."

Around him—

Everyone had gathered.

Closer than before.

And despite the earlier battlefield—

Despite Orochi—

Despite everything waiting ahead—

For now—

It was just this moment.

Warm.

Crowded.

Peaceful.

Even if he had absolutely no personal space left.

===============

The kitchen gradually gave way to a quieter scene as they all moved into the living room, plates cleared, drinks in hand, the tension of battle replaced by something far more human.

The lights dimmed slightly.

The screen lit up.

An action movie from Yuuki's world began playing.

Yorktown and Enterprise sat close on either side of him, both focused on the screen. The sound of gunfire and explosions filled the room as Bruce Willis moved through another impossible situation with that familiar, unshaken attitude.

Yorktown leaned slightly forward, clearly engaged.

"He just walked into that?" she said, impressed.

Enterprise's gaze stayed fixed on the screen.

"…He is reckless," she said.

A small pause.

"…But effective."

Behind Yuuki, Belfast stood with composed elegance, her hands working gently at his shoulders.

"You appear tense, Master," she said softly.

Her touch was precise, easing the strain from earlier.

"You should relax while you can."

At his sides, Atago and Takao had claimed their own attention.

Both of them leaned in just enough—

And Yuuki's hands rested on their heads.

Soft.

Steady.

Ear rubs.

Atago let out a quiet, content hum.

"Ufufu… Shikikan-sama is very skilled at this…"

Her tail swayed slightly behind her.

Takao tried to remain composed, but her ears twitched under his touch.

"…This is… acceptable," she said, though the faint color on her face said otherwise.

On the carpet nearby—

Unicorn had fallen asleep.

Curled slightly, holding onto U-chan.

Laffey rested beside her, already deep asleep, completely at ease.

"…Commander… warm…" she murmured faintly.

Vestal sat off to the side with Illustrious, finally taking a moment for themselves.

She held her drink, relaxing as she watched both the movie and everyone else.

"This is nice," she said quietly.

Her usual urgency was gone.

Replaced with calm.

Yuuki leaned back slightly, letting the moment settle.

The sounds of the movie.

The quiet breathing of those asleep.

The soft presence of everyone around him.

Night settled quietly over the home island.

The room had dimmed, the movie still playing softly in the background as the glow from the screen flickered across everyone's faces. Outside, construction continued in the distance, but here—everything had slowed.

Yuuki shifted slightly, still half-focused.

"Why don't you girls go back to your rooms?" he said. "You haven't rested since we got back."

Yorktown shook her head gently.

"We can rest here instead," she said. "You have extra pillows and blankets, right?"

Yuuki sighed.

"…You're really not leaving."

"No," Enterprise said calmly.

He exhaled.

"Fine. Just for today," he said. "I still need to oversee the Home Island Base construction later."

Belfast's hands paused on his shoulders.

Then pressed down—firm.

"Master," she said.

Yuuki stiffened slightly.

"…Yes?"

"Please rest for today."

"But—"

"Master."

There was no arguing with that tone.

Yuuki gave in.

"…Fine," he muttered. "I just won't fall asleep…"

He leaned back slightly.

"…Soon…"

A few seconds passed.

"…Snore…"

Atago blinked—

Then smiled softly.

"Ara… he fell asleep…"

The room quieted even further as everyone looked toward him.

The tension that always seemed to linger around him—

Gone.

"He looks so peaceful when he sleeps," Takao said quietly.

Yorktown didn't hesitate.

She gently rested her head against his shoulder, settling into place with a small, content sigh.

"I'm sorry, everyone," she said softly. "I'm taking this spot."

Enterprise watched for a moment—

Then moved as well.

She leaned against his other shoulder, quiet, steady, and just as unwilling to give it up.

Illustrious pouted slightly.

"Muu… next time, we take turns," she said, though her tone was more playful than upset.

Atago and Takao moved closer, leaning lightly against his legs.

His hand, still resting loosely, ended up on their heads.

Neither of them moved it.

Belfast watched the scene.

Then let out a small, quiet sigh.

"…Very well."

She adjusted slightly behind him, her expression softening as she looked at his sleeping face.

For once—

He wasn't carrying everything.

She leaned in gently, wrapping her arms around him from behind, resting her cheek lightly against his head.

Something she would never do—

If he were awake.

For now.

"Please rest, Master," she whispered softly.

"You have already done so much for us."

Her voice lowered further.

"…Thank you."

The room settled into silence.

Soft breathing.

Quiet warmth.

No one moved.

No one spoke.

Because for tonight—

This was enough.

================

Yuuki opened his eyes again to that familiar, endless horizon.

The void stretched out in every direction, calm and silent as ever. No wind, no sound—just that strange stillness that now felt far too familiar.

He rubbed his temple lightly.

"…I don't even want to know how I got here this time."

A soft presence approached.

Warm.

Gentle.

"Shikikan-sama, this is a surprise," Amagi's voice came, light with quiet amusement. "Did you miss me?"

She stepped beside him and, without hesitation, took his arm, resting against him with natural ease.

Yuuki glanced at her.

"I just got pulled here," he said. "This wasn't you, right?"

Amagi shook her head gently.

"Heavens, no," she replied. "I merely found you here."

A small smile followed.

"Though… I had hoped for your company again. I did not expect that wish to be granted so soon."

Before Yuuki could respond—

Another voice called out.

"Ah, Amagi-san!"

Yuuki turned.

Two figures approached.

The first carried herself with grace and composure, her posture refined and almost ceremonial. Long dark hair tied neatly, kimono flowing with quiet elegance, and atop her head—

Cat ears.

Yuuki froze for a fraction of a second.

"…A cat…"

Then internally—

Cat ears?! Those are real cat ears.

The woman bowed deeply.

"It is an honor to meet you," she said with sincerity. "Milord, you must be the commander Amagi-sama spoke of."

She lifted her gaze, calm yet filled with emotion.

"I am Fusou. I have awaited your arrival for a very long time. Surely, this meeting is guided by the will of god."

Her voice softened.

"From this moment onward, please allow me to serve you."

Before Yuuki could process that fully—

Another voice burst in.

"Woah! It's Milord! Milord in person!"

The second girl stepped forward quickly, full of energy that contrasted sharply with Fusou's calm demeanor.

She gave an eager bow, almost stumbling slightly in the process.

"Um—I'm Yamahi—no, wait—Yamashiro!" she corrected herself quickly. "I'm really happy to meet you!"

Her red eyes sparkled with excitement, her cat ears twitching as she spoke.

Yuuki looked between them.

Then back at Amagi.

Then back at them again.

"…This is…"

Amagi watched him quietly, a gentle understanding in her gaze.

"They heard your voice," she said softly. "Just as I did."

Fusou nodded.

"My lord… we have been waiting here for ten years," she said.

There was no resentment in her voice.

Only relief.

Yamashiro stepped closer, practically vibrating with energy.

"We thought no one would come!" she said. "But you did! You really did!"

Yuuki exhaled slowly, running a hand through his hair.

"…So now more of you can just… pull me into this place."

Amagi gave a small, apologetic smile.

"It seems the connection grows stronger," she said.

Yuuki looked at the two sisters again.

Their expressions.

Their hope.

Their patience.

Ten years.

Waiting.

He let out a quiet breath.

"…Yeah," he said.

Then, more firmly—

"I'm here."

Because at this point—

There was no denying it anymore.

They were all connected to him.

And somehow—

He had become the one they were waiting for.

Fusou stepped forward with quiet grace, her posture straight and composed. She lowered herself into a deep, formal bow, the movement refined and deliberate, as though every gesture carried meaning.

"I am the Sakura Empire's first super-dreadnought, Fusou," she said. "My sister and I have long sought to cleanse ourselves of the misfortune that followed us since birth. Each day, we offered prayers, hoping to avert the tragedy that once claimed our lives."

She lifted her gaze slightly, her eyes calm but earnest.

"Milord, we would be most grateful if you would lend us your aid, so that such a fate does not befall us again."

Yamashiro stepped forward right after, far less composed but no less sincere.

"Um… I'm big sister Fusou's little sister, Yamashiro!" she said, giving an enthusiastic bow that nearly tipped her forward. "We've never really had the best luck, but I turned out okay thanks to my big sis!"

She puffed her chest slightly, trying to look proud.

"Please don't judge me by how I look! I was once the flagship of the Combined Fleet… well… sort of!"

Amagi watched them with a gentle smile before turning her attention back to Yuuki.

"These are Fusou and Yamashiro," she said. "Sisters who once served with distinction in our fleet."

Her expression softened.

"They fell during a Siren attack, before the invasion reached its peak. Their cubes were recovered and sent to headquarters for revival…"

She paused briefly.

"…but that day never came."

Yuuki's expression shifted slightly.

"I see," he said quietly. "The headquarters was destroyed in the nuclear strike."

His gaze lowered for a moment.

"They were left there… waiting."

Fusou bowed her head again, this time more gently.

"Thank you, Milord, for rescuing us from that dark and silent place," she said. "We waited many years… hoping someone would come."

Yamashiro stepped closer, her expression bright despite everything she had said.

"Thank you, Tono-sama!" she added cheerfully.

Her ears twitched slightly—

And Yuuki had to actively restrain himself from reacting.

Amagi watched him from the side, clearly noticing.

There was the faintest hint of amusement in her eyes.

"Amagi-sama has told us much about you," Fusou continued. "We have long wished to meet you in person. It seems god have answered our prayers."

Yuuki scratched his cheek lightly.

"…Yeah… about that…"

Maybe god did sent him to save them.

Yamashiro leaned in just a bit closer, curious and unfiltered.

"Milord, you smell really nice~" she said innocently.

"Yamashiro!" Fusou immediately scolded, her tone still gentle but clearly admonishing.

Yamashiro flinched slightly.

"Ah—sorry!"

Yuuki exhaled slowly, trying to maintain composure.

"…You two are going to be trouble, aren't you," he muttered.

Amagi smiled softly beside him.

"…They are lively," she said.

Fusou straightened again, regaining her composure.

"Please forgive my sister," she said politely. "She means no disrespect."

Yamashiro nodded quickly.

"I really don't!" she said.

Yuuki looked at both of them.

Then at Amagi.

Then back again.

"…You've all been waiting a long time," he said.

Fusou nodded.

"Yes."

Yamashiro smiled.

"Really, really long!"

Yuuki let out a quiet breath.

"…Alright," he said.

Then more firmly—

"I've got you now." He pats their heads.

And for the first time—

The waiting—

Felt like it had finally ended.

Amagi watched the scene with a soft, knowing smile, clearly enjoying herself far more than she should.

"Ufuu… Shikikan-sama really likes our ears, you know," she said lightly.

Yamashiro blinked, tilting her head. Fusou blushed.

"Eh? Really…?"

Yuuki immediately turned.

"Eh?"

Amagi continued, completely unfazed.

"You do not have to hide it," she added. "You prefer cat ones, correct? It reminds you of your beloved pet."

"Amagi!" Yuuki snapped, clearly not amused.

Amagi simply covered her lips, her shoulders shaking slightly with quiet laughter. Clearly enjoying teasing her destined one.

Yamashiro's eyes lit up.

"Tono-sama loves cat ears?" she said, stepping closer without hesitation. "Then… please touch them, Tono-sama!"

Fusou followed, far more composed but no less willing.

"If it does not trouble you… you may touch mine as well," she said gently.

Yuuki stared at both of them.

Then slowly turned his head toward Amagi.

"If I get in trouble, this is on you."

Amagi only responded by sticking her tongue out at him, entirely unapologetic.

Yuuki sighed.

"…Fine."

He reached out carefully, placing his hands lightly over their ears.

Soft.

Warm.

"…Well," he muttered, almost to himself. He suddenly smiled to himself as he remembered petting Mr Whiskers. "This is… really soft."

Fusou's breath hitched slightly.

"Ah… mm…"

Her composure wavered just a little.

Yamashiro squirmed slightly.

"Tono-sama… it tickles…" she said, her voice softening.

But neither of them pulled away.

Instead—

They leaned closer.

Just slightly.

Yuuki blinked.

"…Wait—"

A faint sound reached him.

Soft.

Rhythmic.

Purring.

He froze for a second.

"…You're actually—"

Yamashiro smiled faintly, eyes half-lidded.

"It feels nice…" she murmured.

Fusou lowered her gaze, her usual elegance softened by the moment.

"…It is… comforting," she admitted quietly.

Amagi watched from the side, clearly pleased with how things turned out.

"My, my… it seems they have taken quite a liking to you," she said.

Yuuki exhaled slowly, still processing.

"…This is definitely your fault."

Amagi only smiled.

"…Perhaps."

Meanwhile—

Neither Fusou nor Yamashiro moved away.

If anything—

They leaned just a little closer.

Yuuki glanced sideways at Amagi, who met his gaze with a quiet, teasing smile. For all her elegance and composure, there was no hiding it now—she was still very much a fox at heart.

Playful.

Subtle.

Dangerous in her own way.

He let out a small breath, his thoughts drifting briefly.

If this is how she acts… what about Akagi and Kaga when they wake up…?

That was a problem for later.

A big one.

Realizing how long his hands had been resting there, Yuuki slowly pulled them back.

"…Alright, that's enough for now."

Fusou's expression shifted immediately.

"…Ah…"

A faint pout formed despite her attempt to remain composed.

Yamashiro was far less restrained.

"Iyaa… more…" she murmured, her voice soft as she leaned slightly forward, clearly unwilling to let the moment end.

Yuuki shook his head lightly.

"Some other time," he said.

Amagi let out a soft laugh, clearly entertained.

"My, my… it seems you have managed to tame these two rather quickly."

Yuuki crossed his arms slightly.

"Well, they remind me of my cat," he said. "And… yeah, it feels nice."

Amagi's eyes softened, though the teasing spark remained.

"Ara… does that mean you are taking a liking to us?"

Yuuki glanced at all three of them—Amagi, Fusou, Yamashiro.

Then answered honestly.

"…To all of you, I guess."

He exhaled quietly.

"…Looks like Atago and Takao won't be the only ones asking for ear rubs from now on."

Yamashiro brightened instantly.

"Really?!"

Fusou lowered her gaze slightly, though there was a clear hint of happiness in her expression.

"…We would be honored."

Amagi simply smiled.

Soft.

Knowing.

"…Then you may find yourself quite busy in the future, Shikikan-sama."

Yuuki sighed.

"…Yeah. I already am."

A new presence stirred the stillness of the void.

Then another.

Then several.

"Amagi-san, Fusou-san, Yamashiro… there you are… we were looking—"

The voice cut off mid-sentence.

Because they saw him.

"…A man…?"

Another stepped forward, her expression shifting rapidly from confusion to shock.

"…Wait…"

Her visible eye widened.

"…You're the one… the one who talks to us."

Yuuki turned.

More figures had arrived.

One of them stood out immediately.

She carried herself with a strange mix of confidence and awkwardness, as though trying very hard to appear composed. Her eyepatch gave her a distinct presence, clearly worn not out of necessity—but style. There was something deliberate about it, like she was crafting an image for herself.

Behind her stood another girl, quieter.

More reserved.

Her posture stiff, almost hesitant.

Her outfit—white blouse with red trimmings, wide hakama trousers, magatama ornaments—gave her an almost ceremonial presence.

She looked at Yuuki—

And froze.

Before he could react—

Another figure rushed past them.

Fast.

Direct.

"—!"

Yuuki barely had time to register it before—

She collided with him.

"What in the—"

Arms wrapped around him tightly.

No hesitation.

No distance.

"It's me!" she said, her voice filled with emotion. "Junyou! Your oldest friend!"

Yuuki stiffened.

"…Friend?"

He blinked.

"…Who?"

Junyou pulled back just enough to look at him, her expression immediately shifting.

Confusion.

Then disbelief.

Then panic.

"I… don't know how you could forget me," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "But please… please remember…"

Yuuki frowned slightly.

"Miss… Junyou, right?" he said carefully.

"I really don't know you."

That hit harder than anything else.

"It's not funny anymore!" Junyou said, her grip tightening again. "You have to remember! We've been together since the very beginning!"

Silence followed.

Yuuki looked down at her.

Studied her.

========

Behind her, the others watched.

Amagi's gentle expression turned more serious.

Fusou lowered her gaze.

Yamashiro's ears drooped slightly.

Even the eyepatch girl's confident posture faltered.

Because this—

Was different.

Yuuki wasn't rejecting her.

He simply…

Did not remember.

Yuuki exhaled slowly.

Junyou clung to him as if letting go would make him disappear again.

Her grip trembled, but it did not loosen. Tears soaked into his clothes as her voice broke again and again.

"Please… don't leave me again… it's been too long…"

Yuuki hesitated.

His hands hovered for a moment, unsure whether to push her away or steady her.

"…What should I do…?" he muttered.

A calmer voice answered from the side.

"I am sorry, Shiki… she's always like this."

The eyepatch girl stepped forward, her posture more relaxed now, though her expression carried a hint of resignation.

"You don't know how many commanders she has claimed as her childhood friend," she said. "Some… were not kind about it."

She gave a small sigh.

"I'm Hiyou. Hiyou-class light aircraft carrier, first of my class. Nice to meet you."

She gestured lightly toward the girl clinging to him.

"And this is my sister, Junyou. Second of the class."

Amagi lowered her gaze slightly, her tone gentle but heavy.

"Shikikan-sama… Junyou has been like this for a long time," she said. "She remembers having a 'friend'… but nothing more."

"No name. No face. No memory to anchor it."

Fusou sighed softly.

"…It is painful to watch," she said. "She searches endlessly for something that may not even exist."

Yamashiro looked between them, confused and uncertain.

"…So she's been… waiting for someone she doesn't even know?"

Hiyou nodded.

"The previous commanders found it troublesome," she said. "Only the last one tolerated it… he treated her more like family."

She paused.

"But even then… she never stopped searching."

Junyou tightened her grip again, as if afraid the conversation itself would take him away.

Yuuki exhaled slowly.

He looked down at her.

At the desperation.

At the fear.

Then he glanced at Amagi.

"Shikikan-sama," Amagi said softly, "why not ease her heart?"

Yuuki frowned.

"You mean… lie to her?"

Amagi shook her head gently.

"Not lie," she said. "Guide."

Her eyes softened.

"She needs something real to hold onto. Otherwise, she will keep chasing something that does not exist."

Fusou added quietly,

"…If she finds that 'friend,' even if imperfectly… she may finally find peace."

Yuuki looked back at Junyou.

Her fingers clutched tightly at him, trembling.

"…And if I do this?" he asked.

Amagi answered calmly.

"Then you become the anchor she never had."

She paused.

"And perhaps, one day, you can help her stand without needing it."

Silence lingered.

Yuuki let out a quiet sigh.

"…Yeah…"

Then—

He moved.

His hand came to rest gently on her head.

Not pushing her away.

Not resisting.

"Hey…" he said softly.

"…It's me, Junyou."

She froze.

"It's been a while," he continued, his voice steady now. "You're still the same as back then."

Junyou slowly looked up.

Her eyes trembled.

"…No way…"

Yuuki gave a small, reassuring smile.

"Why wouldn't I remember?" he said. "You were my first friend."

Her lips parted slightly.

"You… remember me…?"

"You might not remember everything," Yuuki added gently, "but you've grown well."

He paused.

"…Still the same Junyou."

Something broke.

Not in pain—

But in release.

"Wahh…"

Her voice cracked completely as she buried her face against him again.

"You really remembered me…"

Behind them, the others watched in silence. They knew they just shoved him into a role Junyou desperately needed.

Fusou lowered her gaze.

"…It is the only way," she said quietly.

Hiyou crossed her arms, though her expression softened.

"…At least this time… she looks calmer."

Time passed.

Not long—

But enough.

Slowly, Junyou's grip loosened.

Her breathing steadied.

She pulled back.

Her eyes—

Clear.

No longer hollow.

No longer searching endlessly.

They had focus now.

She looked at him like someone who had finally found what she was looking for.

"…You came back," she said softly.

Yuuki didn't answer immediately.

Because he knew the truth.

But right now—

That truth didn't matter.

What mattered—

Was that for the first time—

She had stopped searching.

Yuuki steadied himself as he rose, Amagi and Fusou supporting him lightly. The void remained calm around them, but the presence of the others made it feel far less empty than before.

He took a breath and faced them properly.

"Well," he began, his tone shifting back into something more formal, more grounded. "I am Yukihira Yuuki, High Commander of the Global Defense Initiative."

Their attention centered on him immediately.

"I met Amagi while attempting to stop Akagi and Kaga," he continued. "I was also the one who called out to you… and the one who recovered your Wisdom Cubes from the headquarters."

He paused briefly.

"The resurrection system is still under reconstruction. Once it is complete, I will bring all of you back."

"Global Defense Initiative…?" Hiyou repeated, brows slightly furrowed.

Yuuki nodded.

"It is an advanced force," he explained. "Not tied to any faction in this world. Not bound by nations, humanity, or Sirens."

His gaze sharpened slightly.

"We exist for one purpose—global defense."

The words settled heavily.

Different.

Unfamiliar.

Yamashiro tilted her head, clearly struggling.

"World beyond…?" she asked.

Yuuki gave a small, patient nod.

"We are not from this world," he said. "Which means we are not restricted by its rules. Not by factions. Not by old wars."

He looked at all of them.

"If you join us, you will not just be part of a fleet."

His tone deepened slightly.

"You will be part of something greater. A force that protects across worlds."

Silence followed.

Not rejection.

Consideration.

Fusou stepped forward first.

Her expression calm.

Resolved.

"If this is the will of the gods… then I shall lend you my strength as you have aided us," she said, bowing slightly.

Yamashiro immediately followed.

"Ano… I don't really understand everything," she admitted. "But if Fusou-nee is going…"

She looked at Yuuki.

"…Then I'll go where Tono-sama is too!"

Hiyou crossed her arms, though a small smirk formed.

"Well, it sounds interesting enough," she said. "Better than staying stuck here doing nothing."

She glanced at him.

"As long as I can still perform well, I'm in."

Yuuki nodded.

"With some upgrades," he said, "you'll do far better than before."

Then—

Junyou.

She stepped closer without hesitation.

"I'll join wherever Yuuki-chan is," she said, smiling brightly now. "Friends stay together!"

Yuuki looked at her for a moment.

Then gently placed a hand on her head.

"…Yeah," he said.

"Stick together, Junyou."

Her ears twitched immediately, a soft, content reaction as she leaned slightly into his hand.

Yuuki exhaled quietly.

Maybe this started as something uncertain.

Something questionable.

But seeing her now—

Calmer.

Grounded.

"…Maybe this isn't so bad," he muttered.

Because even if the role began as something borrowed—

Right now—

It was real enough to matter.

Yuuki looked at them for a moment, letting the weight of everything settle before he spoke again.

"Can I ask something?" he said, quieter this time.

Their attention returned to him.

"You girls… won't mind trusting me? Following me?"

Amagi did not answer.

She did not need to.

The way she stood beside him, calm and unwavering, already said everything. Her trust had been given the moment she reached out to him.

Junyou reacted immediately.

"I trust Yuu-chan so much!" she said brightly, stepping closer again. "I'll follow you everywhere!"

Yuuki let out a small sigh, rubbing the back of his head.

"…You're really all-in, huh."

Fusou stepped forward with grace, bowing once more.

"I have placed my faith in the will that guided us here," she said gently. "And in the voice that answered our prayers."

Her eyes met his.

"If you are that voice… then I shall follow you, my lord."

Yamashiro nodded quickly beside her.

"If Fusou-nee trusts you, then I do too!" she said. "And… you saved us, right? That's enough for me!"

Hiyou crossed her arms, though her tone was more relaxed than before.

"Well, it's not like we have many options," she said. "But more importantly…"

She looked at him directly.

"You didn't abandon us."

A small pause.

"That's already more than most."

Silence followed.

Not heavy.

Not uncertain.

Resolved.

Yuuki exhaled slowly.

"…That's a lot of trust to put on one guy."

Amagi finally spoke, her voice calm and steady.

"You have already proven yourself," she said. "Not through words… but through action. We, remnants of the Sakura Empire will trust you with our lives, Shikikan-sama."

Yuuki glanced at all of them again.

Different personalities.

Different reasons.

But all pointing to the same answer.

"…Alright," he said.

Then more firmly—

"I won't waste that trust."

Because now—

It wasn't just a responsibility.

It was something they had chosen to give him.

Yuuki looked around the quiet expanse of the void, then back at the girls gathered around him. The stillness felt different now—not empty, but waiting.

"I really wish I could do something about this place," he said. "You can stay here, sure… but ten years of doing nothing would drive anyone insane."

Hiyou shrugged lightly.

"Well, there's not much we can do, Shiki."

Fusou nodded.

"It is peaceful… but also empty."

Yamashiro shifted a little, glancing around.

"…It kinda feels like waiting forever…"

Then—

She noticed something.

"Ano… Tono-sama…"

Yuuki glanced at her.

"Yes?"

She pointed.

"What is that… on your hand?"

Yuuki raised it slightly.

A faint glow.

"…This?"

He frowned.

"…An interface?"

The moment the words left his mouth—

The air changed.

A soft system tone echoed.

Then—

Text appeared.

[Welcome to the Void World]

"…What?" Yuuki blinked.

The interface continued.

[This interface has chosen you as the handler of this world. It has absorbed your energy to awaken.]

[This feature unlocks only for those who have harmonized with shipgirls.]

The girls leaned closer, reading along.

[Additional features will unlock as harmonization increases.]

Yuuki crossed his arms slightly.

"…Isn't this pointless if they're going to be revived anyway?"

The system responded immediately.

[Correction: This world is a training domain.]

[Once sufficient harmonization is achieved, both you and the shipgirls may enter this world.]

The interface expanded, projecting faint outlines of simulated environments.

[Time dilation: Training efficiency increased by a factor of ten.]

[Recommended usage: Entry during sleep cycles.]

Yamashiro blinked.

"…Sleep… training?"

[Shipgirls may enter in astral form while their physical bodies rest.]

[Maximum duration: Eight hours per day.]

[Upon completion, subjects will return to their physical bodies.]

Fusou's eyes widened slightly.

"…Their training… will carry over?"

[Affirmative.]

Yuuki's expression sharpened.

"…So this isn't just a waiting room."

[Correction: This is a controlled training domain centered around the handler.]

The interface continued.

[Current harmonization level: Below threshold.]

[Minimum requirement: 100 shipgirls.]

Hiyou raised a brow.

"…You're not even close yet."

Yuuki smirked faintly.

"…Working on it."

The system displayed another line.

[Void World access is restricted until threshold is met.]

[Entry requires handler authorization.]

Amagi stepped slightly closer.

"So… once enough of us are connected to you," she said, "we may enter this place… and grow stronger?"

[Affirmative.]

Yuuki looked around again.

The empty horizon no longer felt useless.

It felt like—

Potential.

"…And you said something about merging?" he asked.

[Shipgirls may enter only when their cubes are synchronized with the handler.]

[Permission required for each entry.]

Fusou lowered her gaze thoughtfully.

"…Then this place… will become something more."

Yamashiro's eyes lit up.

"…Like a dream world where we can train forever?"

Hiyou smirked.

"…Not forever. Eight hours."

Yuuki exhaled slowly.

"…Still more than enough."

He looked at his hand again.

Then at them.

"…So this place isn't just for waiting," he said.

"It's for preparing."

Amagi smiled softly.

"…Just like you."

Yuuki huffed lightly.

"…Yeah."

The interface flickered again, its glow intensifying in Yuuki's palm.

Then—

A new line appeared.

[Harmonization has unlocked the first feature: Dormitory]

Before anyone could react—

The void shifted.

The endless horizon trembled, as if something beneath it had awakened. Light fractured across the surface, and in the span of seconds, the empty world began to form.

Land rose from nothing.

A massive island unfolded outward, terrain shaping itself in real time—shorelines carving into existence, elevation rising, structure forming where there had been only silence moments before.

"…What is happening?" Hiyou muttered, taking a step back.

Yamashiro's eyes widened.

"Woah… WOAH…!"

Sections of the island continued to generate, but not all of it opened. Large areas remained dimmed, sealed behind faint barriers—clearly inaccessible for now.

At the center—

Something emerged.

A structure.

Tall.

Dominant.

A tower formed upward from the ground, sleek and modern, its design unlike anything from their world. It rose high above the island, its upper levels culminating in a penthouse that overlooked everything below.

The system spoke again.

[This is the Dormitory.]

[Access level: First floor unlocked.]

Yuuki stared at it.

"…You're kidding."

Amagi's eyes softened slightly as she observed the structure.

"…A place to rest… within the void itself."

Fusou clasped her hands gently.

"It is… beautiful."

Around them—

More life appeared.

Trees began to sprout rapidly, their branches stretching outward as leaves formed in seconds. Fruits grew just as quickly, ripening under a soft, ambient light that now filled the sky.

Grass spread across the ground, replacing the empty surface with something alive.

Yamashiro ran a few steps forward, looking around in amazement.

"It's not empty anymore!"

Hiyou whistled low.

"…This is way beyond 'just a training space.'"

Yuuki walked forward slowly, eyes scanning everything.

The tower.

The island.

The sealed sections.

"…So this place grows… with us," he muttered.

The interface responded.

[Affirmative.]

[Void World development is linked to harmonization level.]

Amagi stepped beside him again.

"…Then this is only the beginning."

Yuuki glanced at her.

"…Looks like it."

He looked back at the tower.

Then at the others.

"…Well," he said.

A faint smirk returned.

"Guess we're not stuck doing nothing anymore."

Yuuki walked ahead at a steady pace, taking in every detail of the newly formed island. The ground beneath his feet no longer felt like an empty construct—it had weight, texture, presence.

Junyou held onto his hand tightly on one side, as if afraid he might disappear again.

Amagi walked on his other side, her expression calm, though her eyes quietly observed everything.

"…This feels like a game world," Yuuki said, glancing around. "Like I can build anything here."

The island responded with quiet life.

Grass swayed gently under their steps, soft and natural. Trees stood tall, their branches heavy with ripe fruit, leaves rustling softly despite the absence of wind.

Yamashiro had already wandered a few steps ahead.

"Oooh—what's this?!"

She plucked a fruit without hesitation and took a bite.

"Umaii!!!"

Her eyes lit up instantly.

"This is really good!"

She quickly turned back, holding out more.

"Fusou-nee, try this!"

Fusou accepted it gently, taking a small bite with far more composure.

"…It is indeed quite sweet," she said, a faint smile forming.

Hiyou grabbed one next, inspecting it before biting.

"…Not bad," she admitted.

Even Amagi accepted one, her movements graceful as always.

"…Fresh," she noted softly.

Yuuki just shook his head slightly.

"…So it even generates food."

They continued forward.

Flowers bloomed along the paths, vibrant and alive. Rows of trees lined the way, forming something close to a natural avenue leading toward the tower.

As they approached—

The structure felt even larger.

They stepped inside.

The lobby opened before them.

Spacious.

Elegant.

And surprisingly—

Alive.

A flower garden had formed within the interior itself, blending nature with architecture seamlessly. Petals drifted lightly across polished floors, and soft light illuminated the entire space.

Yamashiro spun slightly.

"It's so pretty!"

Hiyou looked around, impressed despite herself.

"…Not bad for something that just popped into existence."

At the center stood a large elevator.

The only visible way upward.

Yuuki stepped in first.

The others followed.

The doors closed smoothly.

A single floor was available.

They ascended.

When the doors opened—

The contrast was immediate.

"…Huh."

The floor was empty.

Not broken—

But unfinished.

Wide open space.

They entered one of the four available rooms and found everywhere was empty. Same goes for other rooms.

Bare walls.

Minimal structure.

Like a luxury building—

Left incomplete.

Yamashiro blinked.

"…It looked so fancy outside…"

Hiyou crossed her arms.

"…And inside it's just… nothing."

Fusou walked forward slowly, observing.

"It feels as though it awaits something," she said.

Amagi nodded faintly.

"…A foundation," she added. "Not yet filled."

Yuuki stepped forward, scanning the space.

"…Yeah."

He looked around again.

Then back at his hand.

"…So the outside builds itself…"

He paused.

"…But the inside…"

His gaze sharpened slightly.

"…I probably have to build it."

Yuuki raised his hand again, the interface responding instantly to his intent. A new panel unfolded in front of him—clean, structured, and far more detailed than before.

[Decoration Tab]

"…Of course there's a build system," he muttered.

He scrolled.

Sections appeared—many of them locked, labeled as Special Furniture, clearly tied to higher harmonization levels.

"…Figures," he said.

Then—

A category opened.

Furniture Set

Four options appeared:

Autumn Breath

Blue Eagles

Royal Teahouse

Iron Blood HQ

Yuuki tilted his head slightly.

"…Let's try this one."

He selected Autumn Breath.

The world shifted.

The empty space dissolved in an instant.

Walls reformed.

Textures flowed into place.

Light softened.

Tatami mats spread across the floor. Sliding screens materialized along the walls. Warm autumn tones filled the room as paper lamps lit up with a gentle glow. A round window revealed a painted autumn landscape, leaves drifting in an eternal breeze.

Furniture assembled itself seamlessly—daybeds, cushions, display shelves, a tea set laid out with care, even decorative elements like a fortune cat and hanging scrolls.

A fish tank shimmered quietly in one corner.

A sword stand rested nearby.

"…Whoa…" Hiyou whispered.

Yamashiro's eyes widened instantly.

"TONO!!!"

Before Yuuki could react—

She rushed him.

Fusou followed, though with far more grace.

"Thank you!" Yamashiro said, hugging him tightly. "This feels like home!"

Fusou bowed her head slightly even as she held onto him.

"You have given us comfort… even in this place of waiting," she said softly. "We are truly grateful."

Yuuki blinked.

"…I just clicked a button."

Amagi stepped closer, her expression warm in a way that was rare even for her.

"Ara… even so," she said, gently wrapping her arms around him as well. "You chose something that resonates with us."

She rested her head lightly against him.

"This… feels like home."

Yuuki exhaled slowly.

"…You're all making this a bigger deal than it is."

Junyou and Hiyou stood nearby.

Silent for a moment.

Hiyou crossed her arms, though her tone softened.

"…Not bad, Shiki," she said. "You've got taste."

Junyou looked around, eyes sparkling.

"…It's warm," she murmured. "It feels… real."

Then she looked back at him.

"…Just like you."

The girls began exploring immediately.

Sliding doors opened and closed. Cushions were tested. Beds—five of them—were quickly claimed and inspected.

"They're so soft!"

"Fusou-nee, look at this!"

The kitchen caught their attention next—fully themed, traditional, yet functional.

"And there's even a bath!" Yamashiro called out.

Yuuki walked over to check.

"…Hot spring."

Steam rose gently from a beautifully designed bath area, blending natural stone with the same autumn aesthetic.

"…No bathrooms, though," he noted.

The interface responded faintly.

[Biological functions are unnecessary within the Void World.]

"…Right. Of course."

Yuuki walked back toward the main room and noticed something else.

A screen.

"…An LCD TV?"

He stepped closer and turned it on.

The screen lit up—

But nothing played.

"…No content?"

The interface appeared again.

[This feature is linked to real-world data.]

[You may upload media from your world for use within the Void World.]

Yuuki raised a brow.

"…So I can literally bring movies in here."

He glanced back at the girls.

Still exploring.

Still smiling.

"…Yeah," he said quietly.

Because now—

This place wasn't just a training ground.

It was—

A home.

Even if it only existed in a dream, Yuuki could already see the structure taking shape in his mind.

Three more rooms were available on the same floor, still locked behind empty space, waiting to be filled. Enough to create entirely different themed environments for future arrivals. Enough to make this place feel alive for anyone brought here.

He glanced around the autumn-themed room again.

Warm.

Comfortable.

Inviting.

"…Some of them might not even want to leave if they get used to this," he muttered.

But he shook his head slightly.

"This is just the training realm," he reminded himself. "The real base will be far bigger."

The Citadel.

The future core of everything.

If it functioned anything like the MCV systems he was used to, then building entire environments—living quarters, training halls, themed dormitories—would be trivial once it was complete.

"…I can use this as a reference," he said quietly. "A prototype."

Still—

He looked at the girls.

Laughing.

Exploring.

At peace.

"…Better than leaving them in an empty sea for years," he admitted.

Then—

His body began to glow.

"…Oh."

He looked at his hand.

"Guess it's time."

The light intensified slightly.

"…It's barely been an hour."

Amagi stepped closer, her expression soft but clearly reluctant.

"Ara… Shikikan-sama… leaving already?" she asked.

Yuuki gave a small shrug.

"Seems like I can't stay long."

Junyou moved closer immediately.

"Yuuki-chan… you're leaving?"

Yuuki nodded.

"Not for long," he said. "Once I revive you, we'll see each other properly."

He placed a hand gently on her head.

"Stay here. Listen to Hiyou, alright?"

Junyou nodded quickly.

"…Junyou will listen to you."

Hiyou snorted lightly.

"Heh… she finally listens for once."

Yamashiro rushed over.

"Tono! Will we see you again?"

Yuuki smiled faintly.

"Yeah," he said. "You will."

He reached out, patting both Yamashiro and Fusou—his hands naturally brushing their ears again.

Both of them reacted instantly.

"…We will be waiting," Fusou said softly.

Yamashiro grinned.

"And next time, more ear rubs!"

Yuuki chuckled under his breath.

"…Yeah, yeah."

He turned to Amagi last.

His hand rested briefly on her head.

"Take care of them," he said.

Amagi nodded gently.

"Until we meet again… Shikikan-sama."

Voices followed one after another as the light grew brighter.

"Please come again, Milord!"

"Tono! See you later!"

"See you, Shiki!"

"Yuuki-chan! Don't take too long!"

Yuuki raised a hand.

"Yeah," he said.

"…See you soon."

The light engulfed him.

And in the next moment—

He was gone.

Leaving behind—

Not an empty void—

But a place waiting for his return.
