CHAPTER TWO:
Silence prevail mostly when time stops, just like in the early African culture silence prevail as a time prevail as a time of murmuring, death, war, used in traditional way by traditionalist to connect with their ancestors and even in the modern day time most especially, that believe silence is a special respect for the dead, you can hear from the auditorium "two minutes silence for our late brother/sister or friend", and at that space time seems to be slow, tickling of the clock is heard, space to connect to the audience know their grief and personality, just like meditating we become one with our spirit, we could unlock more potentials and get to know our selves more, "silence" as a word is deep and fearful mostly a calm but psychological powerful just like most saying a silent man can be a very dangerous man "beware", this insinuates that this is a time when the man begins to understand, he reads his opponent, watches he/her moves knowing he/her weakness, and acknowledging his potential This gives a head start mostly in cracking any case, and this was me observing the facial expression of the so called suspect who was repeatedly seen through the CCTV outside during the murder.
If someone asked what guilt looked like, I'd show them footage from Camera 9 — time-stamped 11:46 PM.
The light in this room is annoying. Not just bright — hostile. It's buzzing like it's judging me. I swear it flickers every time I ask a bad question.
She walked in like she owned the place. Not in a rude way. In that terrifying quiet confidence way that makes you wonder if you're the one being interrogated.
Didn't even ask where to sit. Just pulled out the chair and sat — back straight, hands resting calmly on the table like she'd done this before. Like she had notes.
She didn't say a word. Not when I introduced myself, not when I asked her name. Just sat there. Breathing in perfect rhythm with the awkward silence.
Anyway, that's why she's here. Sitting across from me in this room that smells like old coffee, recycled sweat, and the ghost of past regrets.
She hasn't said a word in the last twenty-three minutes. Not to me, not to the guard. She walked in, pulled out the chair, and sat like the seat was reserved for her.
Her fingers rest on the table. Not clenched, not twitching — just placed gently like she's posing for a picture. Her nails are short. Not chipped. No rings. Skin smooth, hands steady.
She hasn't blinked in a while. Or maybe I just keep blinking too much.
She's really pretty. This is distracting. Focus, idiot.
I clear my throat.
"You were on the footage. Just standing there. Middle of the night. Place looks like a junkyard had a baby with a war zone. You didn't look confused. You didn't call for help. You just… stared."
Nothing. No shift. No blink. Just that calm, calculated stillness that makes my skin itch.
"You ever seen what a decomposing body looks like under fluorescent rainwater?" I ask, half because I'm bored, half because I want a reaction.
She glances at me. Not startled. Just… acknowledging my existence and I gave a hot smile, almost blushing out loud, getting red spots on my chin just like in an animated Japanese movie, oh, yes, I watch anime too, in fact I love black clover.
Waiting for an answer "after I kept mumbling".
But, then, she looks away again — back at the blank wall. I follow her eyes. It's nothing. Literally. Just paint and peeling corners. And yet she stares like it's playing a movie only she can see.
I lean forward, elbows on the table. Chair squeaks again. I hate that chair.
"the weirdly movement and the way she froze staring from point to point both horizontally and vertically like she had been on the most wanted FBI list and expecting any arrest at any moment . Then I asked why did U decide to have them killed.
No response. She shifts slightly — one leg crosses over the other, like she's adjusting for comfort, not interrogation.
I sigh.
"I'm not saying you did it. But cooperating now could give U a leverage. we just need some information
"I said as I opened the eyes so wide, with finger pointed at the chair in a so, called movie fantasy way.
She finally turns to me.
Eyes still. Sharp. Unbothered. I freeze a little.
And then — she speaks.
Voice soft, clear, terrifying in its calm:
"I was only watching what nature gives out in de dark."
I sit back. Hard.
For a second, I forget what I was going to say next. Or maybe I never had anything.
She is too fine to be this poetic and this suspicious at the same time.
God help me, I'm cooked.
I stare at her.
She looks at the wall again.
I kept on staring till my eyes rolled to the forbidden middle centre.
"You could hear the little moan on my voice".
What is this why me, I mean why she, look at the glowing skin, her legs damn, so precious like the queen of England.
Oh, yes, I know that last sentence didn't add up but it makes me feel like a Korean actor even without cross-checking the words I put in sometimes. Just like....
"The other time I once said can I be Ur valley so u could work through me"
It was one of the saddest I've said, still hunts me till now.
I could hear the soft laughs from her.
"Oh shit"
I did say that out loud. Could this day be any better, I started sweating profusely and couldn't help but bite my lips in anger and then decided to suit up and have a talk before the case get taken away.
"I decided to ask".
Why are you smiling?
"I think you are very uncomfortable and the rizz, you are just not only bad, seems to me that you are really sassy, like a man in the in the trophic of Africa, very old, and your mentality is that of a caveman.
Have you ever seen an antelope scared, it wasn't compared to how I was just to open up and speak.
I could clearly see the grin in her face. the room became unbearable, I blinked in every second that pass, tears almost ran down my cheek, i was like going into space and lament off my pain out.
But then I decided to speak only seeing the guard sheepishly smiling, as he saw me the laugh became unbearable and at this point in time, I wished I would be swallowed by the universe.
"After the laughing quiet down, I could literally hear the sounds of air.
"I began"
On a serious matter, I don't appreciate the way those words were been presented here, because brutality won't be enough word to explain how am going to treat you if you don't corporate.
Now tell me who and why and how and what could trigger those people to be murdered and I need every info that you know, every sound, include all descriptions, and I need it now.
In a very menace, mellow voice, at this point she replied with a voice almost in tears, a very soft and then she exclaimed.
"I didn't do it, I did nothing and I won't have such intentions and please stop raising your voice at me and ....
"With a grin of laughter"
What else do you want me to say, tell me then and I will tell you. Can someone get me a lawyer here, I can't bear holding up with this nuisance of a man.
At this point, the whole universe is of tired me, I couldn't comprehend what was that, I thought finally we are getting somewhere but then irrespective of how beautiful and loving i find her, with how beautiful it is, taken her down is what is the thought in my mind., and by doing so, I had to crack the underlying logic and by doing so I had to step up my game, not only does she think highly of herself, she thought she was smarter, behind those beautiful eyes I could see a scared lady, very scared, she had so much to say but she couldn't spill out any words, I could clearly see it, like she was being threatened or so. And then the next step is to let her go, and focus on other suspects while making her the target until I find her completely innocent.
And just before I could finish saying anything gunshot were heard and I let her off to attend to the scene.
