Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE

Rain hammered against the windshield, blurring the road ahead into streaks of light and shadow.

Amelia's fingers tightened around the steering wheel, her eyes were pierced through the veil of the windy, rain-drenched road ahead. Each raindrop painted a melancholic rhythm on her windshield. Lost in the labyrinth of her mind, she couldn't shake the haunting memory of the scene she had witnessed earlier that day.

"I'm not imagining it…" she murmured under her breath, pressing harder on the accelerator as the empty road stretched endlessly before her.

"Tonight, I'm going to find out the truth… even if it kills me." she whispered to herself as she continued to press harder on the accelerator.

As she drove along the dark road, the familiar sound of her phone ringing brought her back from her thoughts. With a quick glance, she located the device and tapped the answer button, seamlessly transitioning the call to speaker mode, as her focus remained on the road ahead.

"Lia, where are you?" The male voice on the phone called out with worry etched in his voice.

"I'm on my way to see Mark," Amelia responded, her voice steady despite the storm raging inside her. "Something's going on, and I need to know what."

"You're being rash," he said immediately.

Amelia let out a small, humorless laugh. "Don't start,You've seen it too. You know something isn't right."

"I know, but you can't just rush into it this way."

" You know I won't be able to sit back and do nothing." She responded as her focus remained on the road.

"I'm not asking you to just sit back, im asking you to be careful." He said before letting out a sigh, "Just promise me you won't do anything rash, you dad was worried about you left like that."

"I can't promise you that." Amelia said.

"Lia!"

"Fine, relax." She chuckled, "I won't do anything rash, Happy now?"

"Not really." He whispered under his breath.

"What did you say?" She asks.

"it's nothing, Just call me when you get there."

"I…" Amelia was interrupted by the blinding intensity of a massive truck that shone on her. Her eyes widened as a massive truck tore through the intersection, its headlights swallowing her whole.

She looked at the truck speechless as her eyes widened in terror.

A deafening screech pierced the air as the truck collided with her car. Panic surged through her veins, her heart pounding in her chest as she gasped in fear. The merciless impact of the truck's collision sent her car into a violent spin on the slick open road, Metal crunched, and glass shattered around her like the raindrops. The wheel jerked from her grip and her body was thrown sideways as she was still trapped in her seatbelt.

The collision happened in an instant, but to Amelia, time seemed to slow down. Her car rolled and flipped over, each rotation was accompanied by a sickening ache in her stomach. Finally, the car came to a stop with Amelia still trapped inside, hanging upside down, with steam coming from the engine.

Amelia was covered in bruises and blood trickled down her face , she remained still as her consciousness began to fade.

"Lia!! What happened? Are you alright? Answer me!! Lia!!!" the voice from the phone called out, frantically. Amelia couldn't make a sound. She remained strapped to her seat, she tried to speak as her lips parted, but no sound followed.

Darkness crept in at the edges of her vision, swallowing everything bit by bit.

Her fingers twitched weakly and then became still.

'Josh…' she thought to herself as her consciousness continued to fade until she fell unconscious.

..................

In a large, bright room covered in white and blue paint, the sterile scent of antiseptic filled the air, and the steady beep of machines echoed in the room as Amelia laid on a grey-sheeted bed, with a drip bag and oxygen connected to her.

She slowly struggled to open her eyes to the blinding sunlight that filled the room and noticed a presence sitting beside her.

"Amy, you're finally awake. Hold on, I'll call the doctor right away," the familiar voice said, picking up a telecom by the bedside.

'Doctor? Where am I? What happened?' Amelia questioned herself as confusion flooded her mind. She tried to speak but couldn't move her lips to ask the person beside her.

"Don't worry, Amy. You'll be fine," the familiar voice assured her, noticing the confused look on her face. "You were in an accident, and you've been in a coma for six months. But don't worry, you'll be fine now."

'Six months?? What the hell happened?' she thought to herself.

'I've been asleep for six months?'
