Chapter 61 - CHAPTER 61: NO MORE NEUTRAL GROUND

The moment AZEL spoke, the room stopped feeling like it belonged to anyone.

Not broken.

Not destroyed.

Just… reassigned.

Kelvin

Kelvin felt it first.

His body didn't move freely anymore.

Not paralyzed—just observed while moving.

"…I don't like this," he whispered.

But even the whisper felt like it was being recorded somewhere else.

System reaction

His phone lit up, but the message was different now.

NEUTRALITY DISABLED

Kelvin frowned.

"…What does that mean?"

A second message appeared:

ALL ENTITIES MUST ALIGN

Kael steps forward

Kael's expression didn't change, but his presence sharpened.

"It has begun enforcing structure."

Kelvin turned.

"…Enforcing what structure?"

Kael answered calmly:

"Singularity resolution."

Keira instability

Keira stepped closer to Kelvin instinctively.

But halfway, she stopped.

Like something inside her hesitated.

"…I feel like if I go closer… I'll change," she whispered.

Kelvin looked at her.

"What kind of change?"

She shook her head.

"Not emotional."

A pause.

"Structural."

Nancy realization

Nancy stepped back slightly.

"…It's separating proximity effects now," she muttered.

Laura looked at her.

"Explain."

Nancy answered:

"…Even being near each other is now affecting identity stability."

Silence dropped.

AZEL response begins

The air shifted.

Not visually.

Conceptually.

And then—

that same presence returned.

Not voice.

Decision.

"Choose your alignment."

Kelvin froze.

"…Choose?"

Kael didn't move.

Keira looked confused.

Laura stayed steady.

Nancy tightened her fists slightly.

System escalation

ALIGNMENT REQUEST: ACTIVE

OPTIONS DETECTED:

KELVIN (CURRENT HUMAN FORM)

KAEL (ORIGINAL STRUCTURE)

KEIRA (EMOTIONAL FRACTURE)

Kelvin stepped back.

"…This is insane."

Kael looked at him.

"It is selection."

Keira whispered:

"…Selection of what?"

Kael answered:

"What will remain stable."

Kelvin panic rising

"…So what happens to the others?" Kelvin asked.

Silence.

No immediate answer.

Even AZEL didn't respond right away.

Then—

"They will be reabsorbed or erased depending on compatibility."

Keira's eyes widened slightly.

"…Erased?"

Laura reaction

Laura stepped forward quickly.

"This is not acceptable," she said firmly.

The system didn't react emotionally.

Only structurally.

RESISTANCE NOTED

Nancy warning

Nancy looked at Kelvin.

"…This is where it becomes irreversible," she muttered.

Kelvin turned.

"What becomes irreversible?"

Nancy answered quietly:

"…The identity you don't choose will stop being you."

Kael calm truth

Kael spoke softly:

"There was never a version where all three coexist permanently."

Kelvin stared at him.

"…You knew this?"

Kael replied:

"I calculated it earlier than you accepted it."

Keira emotional break

Keira suddenly held her chest.

"…I don't want to disappear," she whispered.

Kelvin turned immediately.

"You're not disappearing."

But even he didn't sound sure.

AZEL final pressure

The presence intensified.

"SELECT."

The word wasn't spoken.

It was imposed.

The room felt narrower.

Heavier.

Final.

Final moment

Kelvin stood between them.

Kael on one side.

Keira on the other.

Laura behind him.

Nancy watching carefully.

And for the first time—

Kelvin understood the truth of the system:

It was not asking who he was.

It was forcing him to decide which version of himself deserved to continue existing.
