Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3 :THE NAME IN THE WRONG TIME

Kelvin stared at the paper in his hand.

TRANSFER RECORD — KELVIN A

The letters were sharp, official, and impossible.

His fingers tightened around it as if pressure alone could change what he was seeing. Behind him, Aysha stepped closer, her voice lower than before.

"That's your name…"

Laura didn't move. She just watched.

Kelvin looked up slowly. "This is fake."

No one answered immediately.

Aysha frowned. "But it has your name on it."

Kelvin shook his head once. "I only arrived yesterday."

Laura finally spoke, her voice calm but heavy. "That's what you believe."

Kelvin turned sharply toward her. "What does that mean?"

Laura walked closer to the table and looked down at the document. "This file shouldn't exist in the open section."

Aysha blinked. "Open section?"

Laura nodded slightly. "It belongs in restricted archives."

Kelvin placed the paper down. "Then why was it on the floor?"

Silence.

Laura didn't answer immediately.

Instead, she reached out and picked it up carefully. Her eyes scanned it once, then again.

"This isn't just a record," she said quietly.

Kelvin narrowed his eyes. "Then what is it?"

Laura hesitated.

Then answered.

"A trigger file."

Aysha frowned. "A what?"

Laura didn't look at her. "Something placed to activate recognition responses."

Kelvin's voice lowered. "Recognition of what?"

Laura finally looked at him.

"Of memory that's been suppressed."

Kelvin didn't react immediately.

Then he said, "I don't have suppressed memory."

Laura's expression didn't change. "Everyone here does."

Aysha stepped back slightly. "Okay… this is getting worse."

Kelvin picked up the file again, staring at his name.

Something about it didn't feel like information.

It felt like familiarity trying to surface through fog.

A faint pressure formed behind his eyes.

He blinked.

Once.

Twice.

And for a split second—

A flash.

A corridor.

Different lighting.

His hand holding another hand.

A voice calling his name—

Then it was gone.

Kelvin stumbled slightly.

Aysha grabbed his arm. "Hey—what was that?"

Kelvin steadied himself. "Nothing."

But his voice didn't sound sure.

Laura watched him closely. "You saw something."

Kelvin didn't answer.

That was enough.

Laura exhaled slowly. "It's starting."

Aysha frowned. "What is starting?"

Laura closed her eyes briefly, then opened them again.

"The recall response."

Kelvin looked up sharply. "Explain."

Laura's voice dropped. "Once a trigger file is seen by the correct subject, memory fragments begin resurfacing."

Kelvin stepped back slightly. "Correct subject?"

Laura nodded once.

"You are connected to Aisha K."

The room went still.

Even Aysha stopped moving.

Kelvin's voice came out quieter now. "How?"

Laura looked at him for a long moment.

Then said:

"You were part of the same system."

Kelvin shook his head immediately. "No."

Laura didn't argue.

She just opened the binder again and flipped to a hidden page beneath the records.

A second document was attached underneath.

Stamped.

Older.

Damaged.

Kelvin leaned forward slowly.

The heading read:

ECHO SUBJECT LINK REGISTER

Laura pointed at one section.

Kelvin followed her finger.

And froze.

Two entries.

One name:

AISHA K

And below it—

KELVIN A (UNREGISTERED OUTSIDE SYSTEM)

Kelvin stepped back instantly. "No."

Aysha whispered, "Kelvin…"

He shook his head again. "This doesn't make sense."

Laura spoke quietly. "It does."

Kelvin's breathing tightened. "I was never here before."

Laura replied, "Not consciously."

Kelvin stared at her. "What does that mean?"

Laura closed the binder slowly.

"It means your time here was erased too."

Silence.

Aysha's voice broke it. "So… he was a student here?"

Laura shook her head.

"Not a student."

Kelvin frowned. "Then what?"

Laura looked at him directly.

"A subject."

The word hit harder than expected.

Kelvin stepped back again. "No."

Laura continued. "You and Aisha were part of an identity pairing experiment."

Kelvin's voice rose slightly. "Stop."

Laura didn't stop.

"They separated twins to study emotional memory linkage."

Kelvin shook his head faster. "I don't remember anything."

Laura's voice softened slightly. "That's the point."

A long silence followed.

Aysha looked between them, her confusion turning into fear. "This is… real?"

Laura nodded.

Kelvin stood still.

Something inside him felt unstable now.

Like reality was bending around a missing piece.

He whispered, "Where is she now?"

Laura hesitated.

Then said:

"Somewhere still inside the system."

Kelvin's hands tightened into fists. "Take me there."

Laura immediately shook her head. "You're not ready."

Kelvin stepped forward. "I don't care."

Laura's voice sharpened slightly. "If you go now, you won't come back as yourself."

Kelvin didn't respond.

Aysha grabbed his arm again. "Kelvin, stop—this is insane."

But he pulled away gently.

His eyes stayed on Laura.

"Show me."

Laura stared at him for a long moment.

Then slowly said:

"Then you follow me… but once we enter the restricted wing, there is no undoing what you remember."

Kelvin didn't hesitate.

"I already started remembering."

A pause.

Laura finally nodded once.

"Then it has already begun."

She turned toward the exit.

Aysha stood still, frozen between fear and curiosity.

Kelvin followed Laura without looking back.

And as they walked out of the library—

the file on the table shifted slightly.

As if something inside it had just woken up.
