The sky over Sector 4 didn't just darken; it began to pixelate.
As Kael stood with the Seed of a Failed Protagonist merged into his chest, the local reality started to fray at the edges. The Narrative Dampeners the scouts had installed were screaming, their tripod legs glowing a lethal red as they tried to compute a "Zero-Point" surge that theoretically shouldn't exist.

"Kael, the walls!" Lira pointed with a shaking hand.
The rusted iron of the drainage pipe was turning into translucent grey cubes, dissolving into the void. The "Script" had decided that if it couldn't understand the anomaly occurring in the waste-chutes, it would simply erase the entire chapter.
"Don't look at the walls. Look at the scouts," Kael commanded, his voice vibrating with the cold resonance of the 'Null-Energy'.
At the entrance of the pipe, the two silver-clad scouts were frozen. Their high-tech visors were flashing [TARGET LOST] repeatedly. To their eyes, the pipe had already vanished, leaving only a yawning abyss of static where Kael and Lira stood.
"They can't see us because we've already been 'deleted' by the system," Kael whispered, stepping forward into the dissolving light. "We are walking through the margin of the page."

Kael reached out and touched the shoulder of the nearest scout. The man didn't even turn. To the scout, he was being hit by a "random environmental glitch." Kael didn't strike him; he simply reached into the scout's belt and retrieved a Gravity Tether—a high-tier tool used by the Astra Guild.
"Kael, we're going to fall!" Lira cried as the floor beneath them turned into a hollow grid.
"We aren't falling," Kael said, his violet-flecked eyes locking onto the golden hull of the airship visible through the digital cracks in the ceiling. "We're being 'flushed' upward. The system is trying to move the corruption out of the Slums and into the recycle bin."
He slammed the Gravity Tether into a solid beam of the pipe that hadn't yet dissolved and wrapped his other arm around Lira's waist.
"Hold your breath," he warned.

With a sound like a vacuum seal breaking, the entire sector imploded. A massive pillar of pressurized air and 'Null-Energy' erupted upward, carrying the "deleted" debris of the waste-chutes—and two unrecorded ghosts—straight toward the underside of Rex Halvard's airship.
High above, on the bridge of the Astra Dawn, a technician looked at his screen in horror.
"Sir! We just lost the entire Sector 4 signal! And... something just hit the lower cargo bay."
Rex Halvard turned, his face twisting into a mask of predatory interest. "A glitch? Or the thief?"
Deep in the dark of the cargo hold, amidst the luxury trash of the Surface Realm, Kael Veyron exhaled a plume of violet mist. He was inside the enemy's heart, and his Soul Index was still a perfect, untraceable 0.
"The prologue is over, Lira," Kael said, looking at the rows of gold-plated crates. "Now, we start the heist."
