As soon as they entered the office, they split up without wasting a second.
Mark began searching through the stacks of files and papers scattered across the shelves.
Hans headed straight for Rick's desk.
He sat down, pulled a small flash drive from his pocket, and plugged it into the computer.
The monitor flickered to life.
While flipping through a folder, Mark glanced over and frowned.
"Hey, what are you doing on the computer? Get up and help me search these files."
Without looking away from the screen, Hans smirked.
"You keep digging through the paperwork."
His fingers moved across the keyboard.
"I know my way around this."
Mark rolled his eyes and went back to the files.
"Fine. Just don't take all night."
As Mark continued searching through the files, Hans kept pressing keys as if he knew exactly what he was doing.
Then, a voice suddenly came from the computer.
"Hey. Don't act like you're some computer genius."
Mark froze.
He recognized the voice immediately.
"What the hell... Jamy?"
Hans grinned.
"Why'd you speak? I was acting like a pro, and he believed me."
"Yeah, yeah," Jamy replied. "Don't brag about your acting. We both know you're hopeless with computers."
Hans pouted.
"I'll pretend I didn't hear that."
Mark shook his head in disbelief.
"You were part of the plan too?"
"Of course," Jamy said proudly. "You can't have all the fun sneaking into warehouses without me. Besides, what kind of team would we be without the computer genius?"
Hans rolled his eyes.
"Computer genius, huh?"
Jamy ignored him.
"Enough talking. See if there are any files, documents, or anything suspicious on that computer."
Hans rested his hand on the keyboard.
"Finally, something useful."
As he began working, he muttered under his breath,
"What genius? He's sitting safely at the station while we're risking our necks."
"Well, that's how it is. What can we do?" Mark replied with a shrug.
Hans sighed.
"Yeah, let's leave the computer to Jamy."
He closed the drawer he had been checking and turned toward the shelves.
"Come on. Let's go through the files."
Mark nodded.
Without wasting another second, both of them began searching through the stacks of files and documents, knowing they had no idea when Rick—or another guard—might return.
As they searched through the files, they began uncovering documents detailing the cartel's activities.
There were records of shipments, names, payments, and information about several illegal operations being run through the warehouse.
Mark stared at the files in disbelief.
"This is way bigger than we thought."
Hans continued flipping through the documents, his expression growing more serious with every page.
"Just from this small warehouse, they're running all of this..."
He paused and looked at the mountain of files.
"And this is supposed to be only a small part of their operation."
Mark looked at him.
"Then how big is this cartel?"
Hans didn't answer.
For the first time since entering the warehouse, even he wasn't sure he wanted to know.
Mark stared at the documents.
He had encountered the cartel before, but even he hadn't realized how much they had expanded in such a short time.
"I knew they were dangerous..." Mark muttered. "But I never imagined they'd grow this much in just one year."
His hands tightened around the file.
"I should've fought them back then. I should've stopped these bastard when I had the chance."
Hans looked at him.
"No, man. What happened wasn't your fault. You also did not have any choice."
Mark remained silent.
Jamy's voice suddenly came through the computer.
"Yeah. Don't blame yourself for it, Mark."
Hans glanced at the screen.
"You heard him."
Jamy paused for a moment.
"Besides, you're here now. That's what matters."
Mark took a deep breath and slowly closed the file.
"Yeah..."
He looked at the pile of documents in front of him.
"Then let's make sure they don't get away this time."
"Yeah. Let's get these bastards, so no helpless kid or homeless person gets hurt again."
"Yeah," Mark replied.
They returned to searching through the files.
A few moments later, Jamy's voice suddenly came through the computer.
"Hey, guys. Come here."
Hans immediately looked toward the computer.
"What is it?"
"Look at this."
Mark walked over.
Jamy pointed toward a file on the screen.
"There's a file here with Sammy's name on it."
Mark froze.
"Sammy?"
"Yeah."
Hans looked at the screen.
"Can you open it?"
Jamy hesitated.
"I can. But... are you sure Mark is okay with this?"
Mark stared at the screen for a moment.
Then he took a breath.
"Don't worry about me. Open it."
"Okay."
Jamy opened the file.
The screen filled with information about Sammy.
Her college schedule.
Places she frequently visited.
Her favorite foods.
Details about her parents.
Even small details about her daily routine.
Mark's expression slowly changed.
He stared at the screen in disbelief.
"They were watching her..."
Hans looked at him.
"Looks like they knew a lot more about Sammy than we thought."
Mark's hands tightened into fists.
"But why?"
He stared at the screen, struggling to understand what he was seeing.
"Why did they kill her? Was the information she had really that sensitive?"
He pointed toward the screen.
"It was just a list of dealers. How could that possibly be worth killing her over?"
Hans remained silent for a moment.
