Chapter 9 - [9]Binding the Demon Empress, Annihilation Ray

Morwenna, the imprisoned Demon Empress of the Abyssal Rift, let out a laugh that shook the cavern walls. It was a sound devoid of humor, filled only with mocking cruelty and centuries of bitterness.

"A partner?" she mocked. Her liquid gold eyes narrowed as she strained against the divine chains. The starlight metal hissed and burned her pale skin where it dug in.

"You arrogant little speck of dust. You reek of the Mortal Domain yet you carry the suffocating pride of the Apex Realm."

"You think you can use me? I am the Empress of the Void. Even bound, I could snap your mind in half with a single thought."

Arthur remained entirely unfazed. He slowly paced around the perimeter of the divine seals, analyzing the craftsmanship.

"You could," Arthur agreed easily. "But you will not. Because you are starving, you are trapped, and you are pissed off. And I am the only key to this lock."

Morwenna's sneer faltered for a fraction of a second.

"These are chains forged by the Celestial Court and placed by the dogs of the Apex Realm," she spat. "A Master Tier mortal cannot break them. If you touch that barrier, the holy fire will incinerate your soul."

"I am not a big fan of rules," Arthur replied.

He stopped directly in front of her. Without a hint of hesitation, Arthur stepped forward.

As his body made contact with the divine barrier, the holy seals violently flared to life. Blinding white fire erupted, attempting to scorch his very existence.

But the crisp sound of the system chimed instantly.

[Foreign Divine Energy detected.]

[God-Tier Isolation Veil activated. Suppressing environmental hazards.]

[Dimensional Breaker Physique passive activated: Negating lower tier holy seals.]

The holy fire washed over Arthur and parted around his towering frame like water hitting a boulder.

He casually walked through the absolute defense mechanism of the Apex Gods as if he were strolling through a gentle mist.

Morwenna's golden eyes widened in sheer unfiltered shock.

"Impossible," she breathed, her predatory facade cracking. "You have no Apex taint. You have no divine mandate. How are you bypassing the laws of the world?"

Arthur didn't answer. He closed the remaining distance until he was chest to chest with the suspended Empress.

He could feel the chaotic world ending power radiating off her. It was violently suppressed by the chains but still boiling beneath the surface. She was a weapon of mass destruction.

"I don't play by their laws," Arthur whispered. His face was inches from hers. "I am writing my own."

"I know why they locked you down here. You found out about their little battery farm, didn't you? Their plan to forcefully merge the Lower Realms and drain every mortal soul to fuel their own immortality."

Morwenna stiffened. "How could you possibly know that?"

"I know corporate restructuring when I see it," Arthur said coldly. "They want to liquidate the company. I want to own it."

"Work for me, Morwenna, and I will let you tear the Apex Realm down brick by brick."

Before she could form a defiant response, Arthur raised his right hand. He bypassed the physical chains wrapped tightly around her torso.

He pressed his broad calloused palm flat against the center of her chest directly over her heart.

Morwenna gasped. A violent shudder ripped through her body at the intimate and utterly dominant contact.

"Bind her," Arthur commanded.

[Target Identified: Morwenna Demon Empress.]

[Target Morwenna Bound.]

The connection established.

In that microsecond, Morwenna's soul linked with Arthur's. She expected to feel the weak pathetic soul of a mortal man. Instead, she felt an endless terrifying void of limitless potential.

She felt a will so cold and pragmatic that it eclipsed the pride of any Apex God she had ever met. He lacked the sickening taint of the heavens. He was pure unadulterated ambition.

A fierce combative thrill rushed through her demonic blood. If she had to be bound, she would only bow to a monster stronger than herself.

[Initiating System Feedback Loop...]

[Siphoning passive latent Abyssal Energy from Target: Demon Empress.]

[10,000x ROI Multiplier Activated!]

Arthur's eyes rolled back in his head as the system forcibly triggered.

[CRITICAL ERROR!]

[Warning: Sheer volume of Abyssal God Energy vastly exceeds current processing parameters.]

[Host core is facing conceptual overload.]

[Forcing Host into Deep Meditative State for emergency integration.]

Arthur collapsed to his knees right in front of Morwenna and his body went completely rigid.

His eyes slammed shut. A terrifying aura composed of both pristine Arch-Mage blue mana and corrupting pitch black Abyssal energy began to swirl violently around him in a vortex.

"What did you do?!" Morwenna hissed, looking down at the paralyzed man.

Before she could assess his condition, the cavern violently trembled.

The divine chains sensed the absolute corruption of the system integration process and triggered their final failsafe.

The glowing starlight pillars cracked open. Dropping from the ceiling were six towering mechanical angels.

The Apex Wardens!

They were featureless terrifying constructs of pure white metal wielding flaming greatswords. They had no faces, no emotions, and only one programmed directive. Purge all abyssal corruption.

"Damn it," Morwenna cursed. She struggled frantically against her chains as the Wardens advanced on Arthur's defenseless meditating body. "Wake up, you arrogant fool! They will execute you!"

Inside Arthur's mind, a chaotic storm of system alerts blared.

[Integrating Abyssal God Energy...]

[Extracting Combat Insight from Bound Target...]

[10,000x Feedback Complete.]

[Host has acquired Ultimate Spell: Cataclysmic Annihilation Ray.]

[Host has achieved Pseudo Ascension Balance.]

Arthur's eyes snapped open.

The right eye glowed with the glacial piercing blue of an Arch-Mage. The left eye burned with the liquid gold world ending destruction of the Abyss.

He slowly stood up. The sheer pressure of his perfectly balanced opposing energies cracked the glass floor beneath his boots.

The six Apex Wardens froze in their tracks. Their mechanical tracking systems were unable to comprehend the paradox standing before them.

Arthur rolled his shoulders. The Ebonheart Cube instantly snapped into his right hand and formed the pitch black longsword.

He looked at the mechanical angels and a cruel bloodthirsty smirk stretched across his face.

"Perfect timing," Arthur whispered. He raised his left hand as dark matter crackled violently between his fingertips. "Let us test this out."
