Chapter 21 - Star

Hidden within the darkness, white rays of light shone through. Deep panting's and terrified growls would fill the pitch darkness incessantly as the white starlight would occasionally dim deeply casting the environment in to further darkness but, as though that light was sentient in a way... it would pick up again, shining to its previous glory casting the dark world in a resplendent glory like no other. This was star beast Rujir, in its greatly weakened form, having suffered tremendous injuries against the Telemenphen king.

Its form not clear, its pain could be felt as it heavily panted, lowered screams echoing through the darkness.

'what have I done? WHAT... have I, done to deserve this? Is it truly so evil of me to desire power? Is it so wrong for me to aspire for greatness? why?... is my path filled with so much pain, so many fears... no wonder the weak are trampled upon, hah...'

Lost in his monologue, Jedaiah or the boy formerly known as Jedaiah had lost track of time, drifting in and out of consciousness, time slipping away effortlessly as his own body focused more on recuperation. It was strange as to how he was able to survive for so long despite the accumulated injuries... the lands of the dead had left their mark, a great one at that, adding to his already malnourished body plus the accumulated damages from the close encounter... maybe being of royal blood and his already bizarre luck towards encountering the strange adding or altering the body, truly who knew the definite truths, but, the dire effects of the close encounter demanded more from him forcing his body to prioritize. His now mana producing body aiding his already slow recovery thus keeping him alive... barely so.

But as one organism struggled to recuperate from the dire effects of the strange, the forest had once again regained its monstrous vitality, healing from the strange as it once again brought forth new life free from the profane effects of the close encounter. The heavens appeared normal, the mana density filling the atmosphere was now back to normal, the critters and plant life all resumed their cycle, consuming the weak, ascending to glory... truly the great forest had returned to normal. The profane screams and screeches that used to fill the air had all died down one by one as though they had reached the end of their vulgar existences, peace reigning supreme once more.

The former members of slave carriage had either perished or become something different all together, the original corpse- sleeping body of Juon had disappeared from its original position. The once radiant pools of incandescent magma had now cooled greatly signifying how much time had passed as the original positions held by the corpses of former guards and slaves were all but decomposed or rotting. Even the resting body of the former Telemenphen prince seemed to have disappeared from beneath the carriage filled with plumage's of white feathers.

"Officer Brignell, do you really think an heir to death could have once again caused this kind of.. destruction. Heck, even the bones remaining look.. strange."

The youthful voice of Lecauf echoed across, directed towards the black eyed Brignell.

The officer in question stared deeply towards the remains of the deformed, his stern eyes devoid of kindness and care as he opened to answer the youthful voice in a strange confused.

"This is, strange... signs of live magma, the skeletons/ remains of whatever these creatures were. Death and its members can not be responsible for this perversion of nature, besides a main trait death and its members is.. no never mind. But, just know that, death is not responsible."

Speaking whilst gazing at the odd remains, Officer Brignall's monotone and strict voice answered the youthful voice of Lecauf, as he bent down, picking up what seemed to be a horrible remain of some grotesque creature.

Observing his superior's actions, Lecauf surveyed the environment,

 Solidified magma pools.

Strange creatures remains that exuded an unholy aura and the profane design devoid of any rationality.

Plumage's of white feathers that seemed to fill the entire environment, marking it as though it were a holy land of sorts.

"what could have happened here?"

Lecauf muttered softly as he picked up a stark feather from among the countless others.

"Lecauf, lets depart from here. It seems there's nothing left here to investigate much less report about."

 Huh?!

"But Officer Brignell, we just arrived and you're calling it quits already. I thought you wanted to find out more about death and its members?"

Officer Brignell had spoken in his usual strict deep voice, commanding his subordinate whilst gazing at the literal sea of plumage. Time trickled by as Officer Brignell maintained his silence, tension building up within Lecauf's mind.

'Why would he of all people want to leave so early. I thought they called him "the disciplined warden" yet now...'

"Right now you have no reason to know, lest calamities befall you and your family. You recently got married, you have a lover to go back to, so take my advice and let us depart from here."

He spoke in a stern voice, devoid of any character or any semblance of care.. just cold calculating truths yet if one could look beyond the veil of those words, confusion and trepidation lay buried. Seeing that he wouldn't speak no more, Lecauf tsked' his tongue, muttering curses and groanings under his breath.

Whilst holding the strange bone, Brignell turned aside and began walking towards his disrespectful subordinate, tucking the bone within his white robes silently. Then they disappeared once more, leaving not a trace of their presence.

Heavy panting's filled the darkness, the waning starlight genuflecting as it criss-crossed within the deep darkness. Shallowed screams filled the darkness as the light once again waned, this time more so than the previous times almost... as though it was disappearing within the deep darkness, but, once again as though it gained a sense of sentience, once again it gained its shine, filling the darkness abundantly so. Deep growls emanating from the light as shallow screams filled the darkness. Once again, the deep panting's resumed, sounding strained each time they echoed within the deep darkness, more and more each time they escaped from calamity beast, Star beast Rujir.

It couldn't be said what contained such darkness that seemed so dense such that though the brilliant light emanating from star beast Rujir genuflected greatly so, the darkness seemed to wage its war against the white starlight, though each time, it ended in a draw. Countless hours could have passed by yet the stale mate between the light emanating from star beast Rujir and the strange darkness, ignored such concepts.

Deep strained growls emanated from the light, the strained cries it would cause, seemed to grow weaker and weaker as time gently trickled by. The light once again waning, this time dangerously so, as though the darkness could snuff it out easily, the deep panting's having being ceased to no less than a silent whisper.

Star beast Rujir was dying, and it became dangerously close to forfeiting its life towards the darkness.
