Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Increase

Munch Munch Munch

The incessant biting, chewing and swallowing continued without reprieve, ignorant of the stares that portrayed different emotions.

Tinges of shock, fear, horror, amusement, interest, disbelief, awe and confusion flickered in their eyes as they saw Jedaiah eating. What struck most was he was halfway done eating.

What had happened, they were talking about the boy, the likely cripple, the shame of the great Telemenpha family yet before their eyes, he appeared out of nowhere, shocking the maids who had served the food.

The closest they could assume was he had regained a bit of his stren, nay, such a conjecture was utterly impossible. These world's were ruled by strict rules, hence the thought of him evading beings who had encountered the impossible, such an event was utterly strange.

"What happened, I am quite sure I have never let my guard down, so how he enter the room so quietly? Reyn couldn't have lied about the chances of him having an encounter, the doctor verified it."

Taking a short glance at the crimson haired woman, she knew.

"Hmmm. This matter is of strange origins but it is of little importance. Though Reyn might not have an idea, preparations for the king take priority.'

Thoughts fired in Ariadne's mind like a gattling gun, but were shut down through effective reasoning and close priorities. As for what others thought, she didn't allow it to bother her...much.

The prospect of a close encounter happening in the Telemenpha family was an absolute zero...yet, an anomaly had taken place before their eyes.

A long sigh escaped Ophelia painted mouth, a confused expression plastered on her face. It was obvious what she was thinking about.

So many things in this world are strange, yet today, something that could qualify as strange had taken place before my eyes. The prospect of a close encounter happening in this estate is an absolute zero, yet the boy shows up out of nowhere, what a strange event.

Though his sudden appearance was strange, all members of the great family gave little thought to it, after all they were the Telemenpha's, a family raised through challenge after challenge hence their attitude, but they kept eyes on Jedaiah. Oblivious to all their thoughts, Jedaiah, continued gorging on his feast. His skinny hands took food into his mouth, his pale, emaciated face beamed with joy as he savoured each meal.

In the southern region where great protrusions raised themselves against the heavens, one peak stood out, a great colossus so high and so wide it seemed ridiculous stood sovereign. Enshrouded in dense fog, its peak was forever enshrouded by the great heavens. A figure, so young one could mistake him for a youth stared deeply towards the sky. Short gray hair, chiseled features that made him a sight for sore eyes. Donning a flowing white robe with strapped sandals, he continued staring upwards. What a beautiful man.

"In this world, several powers guided and protected humanity and its many species. Over time, mankind desired their magnificent and great powers, but the powers knew of mankind's desire. So they gave themselves to imbibe the world with their magnificence, all while granting mankind knowledge to access that power. This is the legend of old, before the primordial wills and ancient powers, before even the age of gods and the era's unknown. Such is the truth of it all."

Straining his old croaky voice, an old man who seemed to be beyond the concept of age lay on his bed. His withered body, his listless eyes seemed to contain great strength back in great past. With a woolen blanket over majority of his wasted body, he spoke to the youth beside him.

She sat there staring at the old man breath his last breaths not interrupting his recount with an impassive look on her face.

"Ahh, what mysterious truths have I gleamed, such great wonders have I seen, what a life it has been. A content expression gradually formed as he lost himself to the great memories he had regarding not the youth beside him as he took his last breath."

Seeing the old man had passed, the obsidian headed youth with feminine features, stepped out of the modest room with small, weak steps. Shutting the door with trembling hands, she gazed at the wooden floor with so many memories, tears flowed as she gazed downwards.
