With a quiet sigh, she took the seat opposite him. The dining room grew silent once more.
Outside the windows, the city continued moving as though nothing had happened. Cars drove through crowded streets. People went about their lives.

The irony wasn't lost on her.

Elena spent most of her time studying him. Watching and observing him.
Searching for anything that will prove… he is putting on an act. People did not change overnight. Especially not people like Alaric Hale. That was why his behavior bothered her.
Nothing about this made sense.
Finally, she placed her fork down. "Why are you doing this?"
