It's been a while since I saw Gravity Falls and I finally have some time off after a long time and I couldn't wait all day to take some time for myself and watch it.
On the way home, I bought some energy drinks and udon noodles. Once I arrived, I prepared everything for a comfortable viewing. I wrapped myself in a blanket and started watching while eating noodles. "Finally," I said to myself.
I was planning to do a marathon and watch the entire series in one go, but after the first hour I started to get tired, so I slowly started drinking my first energy drink of the evening and before I knew it I had five of them in me and was still going.
After an unknown time...
I jerked violently and opened my eyes, there was darkness all around me, I tried to find my phone to find out what time it was, but it was nowhere to be found.
I was getting mad that I couldn't find it and suddenly a bright light came on behind me, I turned around because I thought I had somehow messed up the computer, but when I did the light surrounded me and I started to fall
(POV Dipper)
My name is Dipper Pines. And if you think this is going to be a normal summer... you're wrong.
Honestly? This place is a magnet for weirdness. Every day you come across something here that defies logic. Ghosts, monsters, time anomalies... almost nothing surprises me anymore.
...Okay. Almost nothing.
"DIPPER!! RUN!!" Mabel Pines shouted behind me.
I turned to see her running through the forest straight towards me and behind her… something much worse. "These aren't normal garden gnomes!" I shouted as I caught my breath again and ran alongside her.
A horde of small bearded gnomes was rushing towards us from all sides, their eyes shining and making strange shrieks. "They want to force me to become their queen!" Mabel cried.
"This is the strangest thing I've seen today-"
Suddenly, a deep rumble of thunder sounded.
I stopped. "...Okay. That's it now." Something was falling from the sky.
"DIPPER, WHY IS SOMEONE FALLING FROM THE SKY?!" Mabel shouted.
The blur was rushing straight towards us. And then BOOM. The impact shook the ground, sending dirt and leaves flying into the air. The gnomes stopped for a moment. I took a slow breath and took a few steps forward.
When the dust settled, I saw it. In the middle of the crater lay… something blue. And it was moving.
"...Uh... Dipper?" Mabel said cautiously.
"Because?"
"Is that jelly?"
"That's not jelly."
The thing undulated… and then slowly rose.
A shape has been formed.
Human silhouette.
I froze.
"Okay… this is new," I said quietly.
The creature looked around, as if trying to understand where it was.
And then she spoke. "...Where the hell am I?"
I looked at Mabel. Then back at him.
"Okay," I sighed. "So... some little thing that fell from the sky just turned from blue slime into a human."
Mabel grinned. "Best summer ever!"
(MC POV)
As soon as I hit the ground, I couldn't see anything through the pile of dust, but the strangest thing was that the fall didn't hurt. As soon as the dust cleared, I looked around and tried to get to my feet, when I managed to do so I said "...Where the hell am I?", but the voice I heard didn't belong to me, it sounded slightly feminine with a hint of undertone, it just didn't sound like it should for a young adult male.
"What? Who said that?" I started looking around. I only saw two children, a boy with a cap and a girl in a red sweater, who came to my attention and behind them... a group of small bearded dwarfs who stared at me with a strangely enthusiastic expression.
I froze. "…Okay. This is too much." This has to be a dream. Yeah, definitely. Five energy drinks, lack of sleep, my brain is playing tricks on me.
"...Sure. Why not," I muttered, rubbing my temples. "Then start explaining."
There was a short pause.
"Reconstruction… wait." I looked at my hands.
Smooth. Bright. Smaller than I expected. "...What the hell happened to my body?"
I froze. "...You're kidding."
"So... I'm a slime?"
"And that voice..."
I just stood there for a moment, processing it. "So I'm... Rimuru... in another world... and I have a... supercomputer in my head."
„…Super."
"Um," a voice said next to me. I turned my head and finally got a good look at the two kids. Yeah. Now it hit me. "Wait… you're…"
"I'm Dipper Pines," the boy said carefully, narrowing his eyes. "And this is my sister, Mabel Pines." Mabel waved enthusiastically. "And you're... the blue person from the sky! Do you have a name?"
"I—" I didn't have time to answer.
"QUEEN!" a voice suddenly shouted behind us.
I turned around. Gnomes. Lots of gnomes. And they were all looking at me… like I was some kind of treasure. "…Why are they looking at me like that?" I asked slowly.
"Bad news," Dipper said. "They think you're their queen."
"WHAT?!"
"You're small, cute," Mabel added. "That's ideal for them."
"I AM NOT THE QUEEN!" I blurted out immediately.
The gnomes paused for a moment. Then one of them pointed at me. "PERFECT QUEEN!"
"NO! I'M—" I took a deep breath "I'M A GUY!"
Silence. Absolute silence. Dipper blinked. Mabel blinked. The gnomes… blinked. "…What?" one of them said. "I'm a man!" I repeated. "A guy. A boy. A male. Not a queen!"
A short pause. Then the gnomes began to whisper among themselves. "But he's so beautiful..." "And strong..." "...Never mind! SHE'LL BE THE QUEEN ANYWAY!"
"WHAT— HEY!" At that moment, they pounced on me.
"Run!" Dipper shouted at me, throwing a pinecone at one of the gnomes.
Mabel grabbed a branch and started to chase them away. "No one will force our new friend into marriage!"
"THANK YOU!" I shouted as I tried to back away. Okay. Relax. I have the skills. I'm Rimuru. I can handle this. "Ciel! Any suggestions?!"
"Okay... so maybe..."
I held out my hand. "True Null—"
Nothing. …Nothing happened.
"…Um." I tried again. "TRUE NULL!" Still nothing.
"WHAT?!"
"Great. Absolutely great."
The gnomes were getting closer.
"Then something else!" I quickly closed my eyes.
Memories. Instinct. Something… "…Gluttony." At that moment, I felt something move inside me. My body rippled for a moment, and then a dark space opened up before me, as if reality had momentarily torn apart.
The gnomes stopped. "…What is it?" whispered one. "I don't know… and I don't want to find out!" shouted another. One of them took a step back. Then another.
And then "RECOVER!" Within seconds, the entire group had scattered into the forest.
Silence.
Just my rapid breathing. I slowly closed the… space and looked at my hands. "…Okay."
"OKAY?!" Dipper blurted out. "What the hell was that?!"
"I didn't mean to!" I defended myself.
Mabel jumped up to me, her eyes sparkling. "That was AMAZING! Can you do it again?!"
"I'd rather not." There was silence for a moment.
Then Dipper sighed and rubbed his forehead and spoke "Okay. So... what are you? How come you fell from the sky"
I looked at him. Then at Mabel, who was staring at me like I was her new favorite series. And then back at my hands.Come on… think of something. You can't tell them you're some random guy from another world who binge-watched their reality.
"Um..." I cleared my throat. "My name is... Rimuru." I hesitated for a moment, but then I just said it. "Rimuru Tempest."
Dipper raised his eyebrows slightly. "That doesn't sound very normal."
"I... am not very normal," I admitted.
Mabel jumped up excitedly. "That's great! Neither do we!"
"That's not exactly a win," Dipper muttered.
I took a deep breath. "Okay. So… how do I explain it…" I scratched my head. "Let's just say… I'm not quite human. I'm kind of… a magical being."
"We noticed that," Dipper said dryly.
"Hey," I said. "I'm trying to keep it simple." I thought for a moment. "My… original world is somewhere else. And somehow… I got here. Honestly? I don't know how."
That was actually true. Just not all of it. "And the body?" Dipper asked.
I looked at myself. "This... is my current form. I can... shapeshift."
Mabel beamed even more. "That's GODDAMN!"
Dipper stared at me for a moment. It was clear that he didn't quite like it, but at the same time... it fit.
"Okay," he finally said slowly. "That makes…relative sense." Then he stopped. "Wait." He looked at me suspiciously. "You said a moment ago that you weren't a queen."
"YES," I said immediately. "Because I'm not."
Mabel tilted her head. "So... you're a boy?"
I took a deep breath. "YES. I AM. A BOY."
They both stared at me for a moment. "...But you sound a bit like a girl," Mabel remarked. "And you look... a bit like a girl," Dipper added cautiously.
I froze. "...That's not the point."
Mabel smiled. "I don't mind!"
"A little bit for me," I muttered.
Dipper sighed. "Okay. So Rimuru. A magical being. He fell from the sky. He can... do scary things with his hand."
"When you put it like that... it sounds worse."
"Because it IS worse." There was silence for a moment.
Then Mabel clapped her hands. "Come with us then!"
"What?" I blinked.
"We're taking you to our house!" she said excitedly. "It'll be fun!" and Dipper hesitated. Then he looked at me. Then at the forest around us. And then he sighed. "...Honestly? We can't leave you here alone after this."
"That sounds reassuring," I said.
"No," he replied.
The walk through the forest was… strange. I kept looking around. Everything felt so… real. And yet completely out of place. "So… this is really Gravity Falls," I muttered.
"Yeah," Dipper said. "You know this place?"
"Um… a little."
"How much?" he asked suspiciously.
Ups. "Let's just say... I heard about it," I said quickly.
Luckily, Mabel jumped in. "It's okay! Now you'll see it live!"
After a while we came to the hut.
I stopped. It was exactly that. Mystery Shack.
"Our home!" Mabel said proudly. "And a workplace," Dipper added. "…Wow," I gasped. Before we could say anything else, the door opened.
"Kids! Where have you been—" a voice called out. A man in a fez stood in the doorway. Grunkle Stan.
He looked at us. Then at me. Then at me again. "…What is it?" he asked.
"This is Rimuru!" Mabel said excitedly. "He fell from the sky!"
"Sure," Stan said without hesitation. "And I'm the King of England."
"That's not a joke," Dipper interjected. "He's... weird."
"Thanks," I mumbled. Stan looked me over. "So… where are you from, girl?"
I froze. Dipper closed his eyes. Mabel tried not to laugh. "...I'm not a girl."
Stan raised his eyebrows. "Really?"
"I AM A BOY."
"Yeah, sure," he waved his hand. "And I'm a fairy."
"This is going to be long," I muttered.
Dipper sighed. "Grunkle Stan... can we leave him here?"
"No."
"He has magical powers."
Stan paused. "...Continue."
"And it can be useful."
Stan thought for a moment. He looked at me. "Can you make money?"
"...What?"
"Hmm." There was silence for a moment.
Then I sighed. "Look… I have nowhere to go," I said honestly. "I don't know how I got here. I don't know how to get back." That was true. And I guess you could hear it. Stan studied me for a moment. Then he sighed. "Okay."
I blinked. "Really?", "Yeah. But you'll work," he pointed at me. "No slacking off."
"I'll take that."
"And if you break something—" "I'm not responsible for that," I interrupted.
"...I don't like that."
Mabel jumped with joy. "We have a new roommate!" Dipper sighed, but smiled slightly. Stan turned and muttered, "She looks like a girl anyway... that'll attract customers."
"I hear you," I said.
"That was the purpose."
I sighed. He looked at the hut. At the two of them. And then at the sky. "…Okay," I muttered.
"Welcome to your new life." And somewhere deep in my mind, a calm voice spoke.
This... will be interesting.
