Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Metal Master

Seiran considered the question carefully. "I'm not entirely sure. Each Magnet Release user seems to have different properties. Mine just happens to have a stronger affinity for metal tools."

Rin's frown deepened.

She'd spent time studying her clan's archives and knew the basics of Magnet Release. The strongest practitioner was the Third Kazekage of the Hidden Sand Village—his Iron Sand Technique was so formidable it could suppress a Tailed Beast, earning him recognition as the greatest Kazekage in history.

Yet that reputation, she now understood, was overstated.

His ability controlled iron sand, barely interfering with metal ninja tools. He couldn't manipulate them with anywhere near the precision Seiran had just demonstrated. If Seiran ever fully mastered metal control... Rin didn't want to imagine the implications.

What shinobi didn't carry kunai and shuriken?

If she hadn't replaced her entire arsenal with wooden substitutes today, she would've been disarmed in seconds—stripped of her tools before landing a single blow.

Seiran caught the look on her face and guessed her thoughts easily enough. If she only knew I haven't even scratched the surface...

If Magnet Release was a single leaf, then Electromagnetic Manipulation was an ancient forest stretching infinitely skyward.

Every ability he possessed—whether drawn from this world's native magnetism or developed through his own cultivation—was merely one leaf among countless others. One of the four fundamental forces of the universe. The thought of mastering it completely sent a chill down his spine.

After his match with Rin, Seiran's experience had climbed past 1,900. Only a few dozen points separated him from Level 2.

When he reached it, his system would likely unlock something new. What would it be?

The question consumed his thoughts as he walked home.

---

The holiday meant no classes at the Academy. Seiran seized the opportunity, barricaded himself in his room, and threw himself into an intensive training regimen designed to push his electromagnetic mastery to the next threshold.

Simultaneously, across the Hidden Leaf Village, within the Hyuga Clan compound—an institution that had endured nearly a millennium—whispers turned to chaos.

A clansman had awakened a second Kekkei Genkai.

In a bloodline as ancient and rigid as the Hyuga, this was unprecedented. Rumors spread like wildfire through the compound. At first, people dismissed them. Then more voices confirmed it. Then came the real kicker: this person had defeated an Uchiha prodigy in a single move.

"Did you hear? One of our clansmen awakened a second Kekkei Genkai. Beat an Uchiha genius, apparently."

"You're just hearing about this now? The Uchiha went down in one hit."

"I heard they dropped to their knees begging for mercy."

When someone approached Iroha Hyuga with questions, she remained silent. Her expression, however, told them everything.

The compound erupted into feverish speculation.

Could others awaken a second Kekkei Genkai? Did the Byakugan bloodline contain hidden layers? The questions multiplied and spread through every corner of the clan.

Finally, Hiashi Hyuga addressed the chaos directly, declaring that Seiran's situation was unique—not a universal phenomenon. The clan gradually settled, though curiosity lingered.

Many clansmen wanted to know more about this dual-bloodline prodigy, only to discover he seemed to have appeared from nowhere. No one had heard of him before.

At training grounds and street corners, clusters of clan members whispered excitedly, scattering quickly whenever a main branch member passed with a disapproving cough.

None of them realized their mysterious "righteous lord" was currently locked in a cramped room, pushing himself through brutal, solitary training.

---

Three days later.

The room reeked of stale sweat. Metal equipment lay scattered across the floor like debris after a storm. Seiran's breathing came in heavy gasps, yet his eyes burned with triumph.

"It worked!"

A faint crack had echoed through his body moments ago, followed by a system alert that materialized in his mind:

[Electromagnetic Manipulation LV2 (0/6000 EXP to next level)]

As the notification settled, Seiran felt something shift inside him—a familiar sensation from his first awakening, but magnified tenfold.

Impurities broke down throughout his flesh, releasing pure energy that flooded through his body like warmth from a forge. Despite days of exhausting training and layers of grime, he felt invigorated. Alive. Electric.

He closed his eyes and sensed inward.

The changes became clear immediately.

"The biomagnetic field... it's much stronger now."

His eyes snapped open.

He'd already understood that human life generated unique biomagnetic fields. Strengthening them would amplify every biological process. His earlier theory—that a powerful enough field could reverse physical decay and elevate life to a higher form—suddenly felt less like speculation and more like possibility.

He'd just taken his first step down that path.

"Higher life forms," he whispered. "Is that where this leads?"

After a moment to collect himself, Seiran breathed deeply and examined his biomagnetic field more closely.

"I can control metal's magnetism freely, but living beings' biomagnetic fields..." He trailed off, frowning slightly. "That's beyond my reach. A higher authority I haven't unlocked yet. But..."

The biomagnetic field burning inside him radiated steady warmth, like a flame that adjusted automatically to keep his body in peak condition. It was exactly like receiving permanent regeneration from a medical-nin.

This was more than just a field.

"I'll call it the life magnetic field," he said aloud, testing the name.

It felt right.

The life magnetic field was clearly the new ability granted by reaching Level 2. Testing his other electromagnetic techniques, he found they'd grown sharper and more precise across the board.

"Level 1 was basic control. Level 2 unlocked the life magnetic field. So Level 3, 4..." He trailed off, eyes gleaming with anticipation. "What comes after?"

The electromagnetic path stretched before him like a pyramid of endless stairs, each level beckoning him higher toward a peak he couldn't yet see. The promise of that climb filled him with hunger.

He'd only just begun.
