Chapter 111 - Chapter 110: Confrontation of the Hive Lords

Light swept across the trembling earthen City walls, as if coating them in a flowing, translucent layer of purple-gold glazed armor!

The cracks on the City walls were instantly repaired and sealed, the entire structure becoming indestructible, emitting a faint aura of sacred majesty.

The parts of the monsters clinging to the walls that were touched by this purple-gold halo hissed as if doused in strong acid; their purple-black skin and muscles rapidly charred, carbonized, and peeled away!

They let out shrieks of agony yet refused to retreat, scratching at the reinforced walls with even more frantic movements.

Around Luna, the lifelike phantom of a divine dragon, condensed entirely from purple-gold light, faintly circled and swam. As the dragon's eyes opened and closed, a pressure that seemed to stem from heaven and earth radiated from him.

He did not directly attack the tide-like monsters, focusing instead on maintaining and strengthening the defenses.

His gaze pierced through the City walls and the monster swarm, casting a deep look toward the Tokyo Tower.

"Xuanwu, guard this place."

Luna's voice remained calm as ever.

"The threat of a Hive Lord lies at the root. These minions can never be fully slaughtered."

Xuanwu gave a low growl in response.

His massive frame stood at a key node of the City wall. With a swing of his giant claws, he swatted those stray monsters that managed to scale the wall or crawl through the impact cracks into meat paste.

Other Hunters and elite warriors from the Dragon Kingdom also performed their duties, either using long-range abilities to pick off high-threat individuals or forming battle arrays to clear out any that slipped through the cracks.

Relying on the solid fortress buffed by Luna, they temporarily held back this first wave of the most violent impact.

But a heavy stone seemed to weigh on everyone's heart.

The most terrifying aspect of the swarm created by Ghost Prison was this endless, cost-indifferent attrition.

They could hold for a while, but if they couldn't find Ghost Prison's main body and kill him, they would eventually be drained of strength and submerged by this horrific sea of monsters.

And this was the Hive Lord's swarm tactic... Meanwhile, at another high point in Tokyo that hadn't been completely submerged—the edge of a skyscraper's rooftop.

An elegant figure stood quietly, the night wind blowing her long golden hair.

She wore a magnificent and exquisite gown and gold-rimmed glasses. Her azure eyes gazed through the lenses at the dense, swarming mass of dark purple below.

Pushing up her glasses, the girl's azure eyes had now shifted to a pinkish-blue.

The Ruler of England, ranked fourth on the Hunter list, Lilith.

She looked down at the torrent of monsters surging like boiling asphalt, a faint, imperceptible flicker of amusement crossing her pink-blue eyes.

"Bodies without souls, leaving only the most primitive instruction circuits..."

She murmured softly, her voice as pleasant as wind chimes but entirely devoid of warmth.

"It really is quite troublesome."

If it were an ordinary Hive Lord Hunter, no matter how vast the numbers, she had many ways to deal with them.

Implanting Spiritual Spores to create chaos and defection, weaving illusions to divide and dismantle, or even pitting swarm against swarm.

But these monsters before her were forcibly catalyzed by Ghost Prison using 'Purgatory of All Living Beings'; their souls had long been sacrificed as fuel, leaving only empty shells driven by frantic commands.

Mental influence would no longer have any effect on them; a forced intrusion would only encounter a chaotic, frenzied noise.

Illusions were also useless against these soulless bodies. Bodies without souls no longer feared any attacks on the spiritual or mental level.

"If I had known the people of the Japan were so generous toward their own, I should have taken some in advance."

The corner of Lilith's mouth curled into a mirthless arc, as if regretting missing out on an interesting collectible.

However, she never prepared only one hand of cards.

"Fortunately,"

She raised a slender finger and gently pushed her glasses, her pink-blue eyes reflecting the sky shrouded in purple-black baleful energy.

"I made some... small contingency plans."

Her cherry lips parted, speaking in incredibly crisp Chinese, without any of the awkwardness typical of foreigners, yet still devoid of warmth.

"Construct."

The moment the word fell—

"Whoosh—!"

Above Tokyo, the thick, churning clouds of purple-black baleful energy were suddenly and violently torn apart by several beams of blazing light descending from the heavens!

The light beams precisely pierced the cloud layer, dispersing the eerie energy over a large area and revealing the deep starry sky behind it, as well as—

Several massive, streamlined silver-gray metal Constructs resembling intercontinental missiles!

They were like sleeping whales, seemingly falling from the stars, then quietly hovering a thousand meters in the air.

The surfaces of these metal Constructs were as smooth as mirrors, reflecting the eerie glow of the City below.

Their volume was comparable to a skyscraper, their design full of the simplicity and power of future technology, as if they were aerial creations far beyond current conventional tech!

The Factions of all national representatives in Tokyo were shocked by this scene, looking up in unison.

In their eyes, the edges of these silver-gray metal Constructs, which looked like intercontinental missiles, simultaneously split open into neat square openings. Then—

"Vrrr—!!!"

A low, dense roar, like billions of metal bees vibrating their wings at once, approached from afar, growing from weak to strong, instantly drowning out the shrieks of some monsters below!

In the next moment, the square openings were like doors opening to a mechanical hive. Endless silver-white hexagonal flat drones surged out from those platform cracks like a floodgate opening!

They were only the size of a palm and seemed infinite in number, instantly forming a rotating, expanding metal tornado in the sky!

Like an apocalyptic storm, they pulled the curtain of doomsday back over that gap in the sky.

The flight paths of these drones were precise and swift, carrying a cold and orderly beauty.

They quickly adjusted their formation in the air, forming silver clouds that blotted out the sun. The silver-white fuselages contrasted with the purple-black monster tide below and the surrounding roiling dark baleful energy.

It formed a picture of a confrontation between heaven and earth!

Lilith stood at the edge of the rooftop, her pink-blue eyes calmly watching the mechanical torrent she had summoned.

The cold silver light of the sky seemed reflected in her eyes.

"Now then."

She murmured to herself, as if starting an elegant performance.

"Let me see whether frenzied flesh is tougher, or cold metal is sharper."

With a slight shift of her will, the silver-white drone swarms suspended in the sky simultaneously adjusted their direction, completely locking onto the flesh-and-blood hell boiling with endless malice below.

The cold glint of metal was like a silver wave rolling in the sky. The metal storm of humming and the shrill screams of frantic purple-black clashed in the night sky of fallen Tokyo as the two swarms began their confrontation.

Immediately following, a silver rain seemed to fall from the sky, while the frenzied flesh below began to pile up and climb, one by one, as if seeking to pull the enemies in the sky down into the abyss!
