Chapter 104 - Chapter 105 His brain was still trying to process the images he had just seen.

His brain was still trying to process the images he had just seen.

A small person in a tracksuit jumped onto the monster's back like a flea, then froze it and kicked it to pieces?

This was more absurd than a comic book, yet so real it made him tremble.

"Don't just stand there, that thing is down."

The old sergeant nearby was the first to react. Although he was also terrified, his years of professional discipline forced him to stand up, shouting hoarsely into his radio.

"Central, Central, threat neutralized. Repeat, threat neutralized. We need backup, lots of backup, and a biohazard cleanup crew. This place is like a slaughterhouse."

Alice jumped lightly off the mountain-like corpse, gliding through the shadows along the street like a gust of wind. From behind the distribution box where she had hidden it, she pulled out the slightly deformed low-temperature storage box.

Inside lay five intact vials of Prometheus Serum.

This was her greatest spoil of the night, as well as the experimental data Alexei had paid for with his life.

Then, she turned around and looked toward the direction where people were trying to peek from behind cover, and where a few brave Police Officers were slowly surrounding her with guns raised.

The streetlights flickered.

The red and white fox mask cast an eerie, half-smiling silhouette in the night.

Facing those dark muzzles, Alice tilted her head slightly and raised her right hand, making an elegant and casual waving gesture, like a stage actor taking a final bow.

Goodbye.

The next second.

"System, switch character card—Kato Megumi."

Buzz.

It was like an old television suddenly having its signal cable pulled, leaving only static on the screen.

By the time Commander Miller lost visual lock for that 0.1 second because of a blink,

When he opened his eyes again,

The street was empty.

Only that massive headless corpse remained, beginning to melt in the rising temperature and emitting a nauseating stench.

"Where's the person?"

Miller rubbed his eyes in terror, the beam of his flashlight scanning the area frantically.

"A ghost, that was a ghost."

A young Officer sat on the ground in fright, muttering to himself.

Ten minutes later.

The screeching of brakes broke the eerie atmosphere of the scene.

Several unmarked black Chevrolet Suburbans roared onto the scene.

They ruthlessly plowed through the yellow Police tape that had just been set up and stopped next to the corpse.

The car doors opened in unison.

A group of Agents in black suits and sunglasses, carrying various strange high-tech detection equipment, quickly exited the vehicles. Their movements were uniform and well-trained as they took control of the situation.

"NYPD! You have no right—" The old sergeant started to step forward to question them.

A black ID was shoved directly into his face.

"FBI, Special Task Force."

A cold voice interrupted him.

"From now on, this area is under federal jurisdiction. Have your men withdraw, sign this non-disclosure agreement, and forget everything you saw tonight."

The old sergeant looked at the complex ID badge. Although it said FBI, he felt the eagle logo looked somewhat familiar.

He swallowed and sensibly shut his mouth.

The lead Agent wasn't the one who had shown the ID.

Instead, it was a middle-aged man with a slightly receding hairline and a friendly face that made him look like an insurance salesman.

Senior S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson.

He ignored the Police protests and walked straight to the massive headless monster corpse.

Even as well-traveled as he was, he couldn't help but frown slightly and pull a handkerchief from his pocket to cover his nose upon seeing the state of the corpse.

"Officer, is this even human?"

A technical Agent holding a scanner turned pale as he looked at the off-the-charts readings.

"The genetic structure has completely collapsed. The rate of cell division is hundreds of times that of a normal person. This is practically a walking mass of cancer cells."

"It seems the Osborn Group's little secrets aren't as pretty as they advertise."
