"Damn it, this is the power of a Level 5..."
Sha Danshan walked into the Infirmary with a staggering gait. She lay down on the bed that was practically reserved for her, placed one arm over her forehead, and quietly stared at the ceiling, muttering to herself in her heart.
She was never as kind and innocent as she appeared on the surface; instead, she harbored a massive desire: to completely destroy this Tokiwadai Academy. To that end, she had been accumulating her own strength.
However, the enrollment of three Espers at Tokiwadai this year directly disrupted her plans. After witnessing the tip of the iceberg of an Esper's strength, the power she had originally believed would be sufficient to achieve her goal now seemed somewhat meager, and even this conviction began to waver.
In the silent stillness, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. Time continued to march forward, and soon enough, Chinatsu and Mikoto had already been studying at Tokiwadai for a month, having basically adapted to this academy of zaibatsu infighting.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
"Very well, that concludes this lesson. Do not forget to preview the upcoming topics; I will select two students to check tomorrow."
Regardless of the space-time or the school, the words teachers say when class ends are always the same templates, and even the young ladies under the podium could not help but feel aggrieved by the massive workload of this school.
"Class is finally over!"
"It should be said that we can finally have lunch. What are you all eating? The academy cafeteria? I heard a new restaurant opened over at the School Dorms, it seems to be serving Chinese cuisine!"
"Is that true? I'm tired of French food and the like, and I haven't really had Chinese food before. Count me in, I want to go too!"
The chatter between these young ladies was unexpectedly simple, yet every word and action was filled with the scent of money. One must know that the prices in Academy City are not cheap to begin with, and the School Dorms area is specifically designed to provide products for the daughters of wealthy families.
Simply put, it's like changing the price tags of products outside from Yen to Dollars, and this group of young ladies would swipe their cards without even batting an eyelid.
Chinatsu, sitting in the corner by the window, maintained the same distracted posture she had during class. No classmates approached her to make conversation, until Mikoto, who had walked over from another class outside, shouted out.
"Sister! It's time for lunch!"
"Oh... coming!"
Chinatsu immediately stood up from her seat, walked out amidst the gazes of her classmates, and walked side-by-side with Mikoto along the academy corridor, preparing to head out of the school gates to grab a meal.
"Sister, have you heard that a Chinese restaurant opened in the School Dorms? Let's go try it, I haven't tasted Chinese food before!" Mikoto said with an expectant, cheeky smile.
"Sure, but it's better not to have too high expectations for Japanese-style Chinese cuisine. If there's a chance in the future, I'll go find an authentic shop or try making it myself," Chinatsu answered leisurely.
Mikoto didn't pay much attention to the second half of this statement, because in her impression, her sister had never cooked before, let alone made Chinese cuisine.
The pace of the two walking in the corridor gradually increased, from a slow stroll to a race-walk, and the moment they walked out of Tokiwadai Academy, they started running.
"Whoever is slow pays!"
It was unclear who said it, but the figures of the two vanished in an instant. Tokiwadai school regulations prohibited students from using their abilities, but once they were outside the school gates, that was a different story.
Mikoto used electromagnetic force to assist her acceleration. Her own athletic talent was already excellent, and this burst of speed allowed her to directly surpass a world sprint champion.
"We're here!"
Mikoto slammed on the brakes, using electromagnetic force to decelerate. She arrived at the entrance of the Chinese restaurant, only to see through the glass that her sister was already inside.
"Damn it! Lost again!"
Mikoto puffed out her cheeks angrily and walked into the shop. From childhood to now, she had engaged in all sorts of competitions with Chinatsu, and the outcome was that she lost more than she won. The problem was, even in the games she did win, she suspected that Chinatsu had let her win on purpose.
"Take out your bank card and get ready to pay~"
"Hmph, next time I will win!"
While saying this, Mikoto silently took out her bank card from her small bag. She felt absolutely no heartache over the money; although their family didn't control large enterprises like the other young ladies, their father's business operated directly at the national level.
Under the guidance of a waiter, the two sat at a table by the glass wall inside the shop. Perhaps some people prefer to sit inside and don't like sitting by the glass wall where they can be seen from outside, but luckily, neither of them cared.
After Chinatsu held the restaurant menu, the corner of her mouth twitched instantly, and she revealed an expression that said, "I knew it would be like this." The dishes on the menu were full of Japanese-style flair.
It couldn't be said that it wasn't delicious—after all, if it weren't tasty, it wouldn't have any business—but Chinatsu, who had wanted to eat authentic flavors, felt a bit disappointed.
Watching the disappointed look on Chinatsu's face, Mikoto puzzlingly reached out and took the menu. After looking it over for a while, she couldn't see what was wrong with the menu.
"Sis, what are you eating?"
"I'll just have whatever you're having."
Chinatsu threw the troublesome question directly to Mikoto. In response, Mikoto's expression as she looked at the menu in her hand instantly furrowed, struggling over whether to eat this or that.
Chinatsu rested her head on one hand, quietly watching Mikoto, who was frowning and muttering in distress, and a smile involuntarily appeared on her cheeks.
A sister-con?
Sorry about that, I really am one.
Then again, who could refuse a character like Mikoto? In any case, Chinatsu couldn't. It's fine to just openly admit to being a sister-con; others might want to be one but can't even manage that.
"Hmm?"
Chinatsu suddenly turned her head faintly and looked outside through the glass wall next to her. She saw a girl dressed in sharp, professional attire walking past the shop with her hands in her pockets.
Shirai... Kuroko?!
A new student who would enroll during the second year of middle school, she admired Mikoto with an almost perverted intensity. She was a Level 4 Space Movement Ability User, though this year she was only a Level 3.
Then again, because she was overly perverted, it was often easy to overlook the fact that she was actually a genuine young lady. Her family operated businesses and almost monopolized industries such as supermarkets, and they also had many achievements in other fields.
Because her ability level met the admission standards for Tokiwadai Academy, she came to Tokiwadai at her father's request, hoping that Kuroko could make many friends at the academy and take this opportunity to further advance her family's business.
Chinatsu, resting her head on her hand, watched Shirai Kuroko pass by without noticing the two of them at all, the smile on her lips becoming even more pronounced.
"I'm really looking forward to it, the second year."
