Chapter 22 - CHAPTER 22: Void Side Effect

The night felt… wrong.

Not dangerous.

Not heavy.

Just—

Off.

Lyra noticed it first.

"…Something's weird."

She looked around.

The air was normal.

The environment was normal.

But—

Arka wasn't.

He walked ahead—

Same as usual.

But his presence—

Felt deeper.

Like a shadow that didn't belong.

"…Arka."

No response.

"…Hey."

He stopped.

Slowly—

Turned his head.

"…What?"

Lyra paused.

Something in his voice—

Was different.

"…You okay?"

A brief silence.

"…Define 'okay.'"

Lyra frowned.

"…Yeah, I don't like that answer."

Arka looked forward again.

"…I feel… fine."

A pause.

"…But everything else doesn't."

Silence.

Lyra didn't joke this time.

"…Explain."

Arka raised his hand slightly.

The air around it—

Twisted.

Not visibly—

But perceptibly.

"…I can feel things."

"…More than before."

Lyra's expression sharpened.

"…Like what?"

A pause.

"…Everything."

Silence.

The way he said it—

Wasn't exaggeration.

It was literal.

"…That's not good."

"…I know."

[System Warning]

[Void Resonance – Unstable]Mental Load Increasing

Arka's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…There it is."

Lyra stepped closer.

"…What now?"

Before he could answer—

WUSH!!

The air shifted.

Heavy.

Then—

A presence.

Different from before.

Stronger.

Way stronger.

Lyra's body froze slightly.

"…No way…"

Even Arka—

Paused.

From the Shadows

A single figure walked forward.

Slow.

Calm.

Each step—

Controlled.

The ground didn't crack.

The air didn't explode.

But—

Everything moved aside.

"…So."

A voice.

Cold.

"…You're the one."

Lyra's grip tightened instantly.

"…This pressure…"

"…S-Rank…"

No.

Stronger.

The man stopped a few meters away.

Eyes locked onto Arka.

"…You've caused enough noise."

Silence.

Arka stared back.

"…And you are?"

A pause.

"…Guild Master."

No name.

No introduction.

Didn't need one.

Lyra swallowed.

"…We're dead."

Arka stepped forward.

"…Not yet."

The Pressure

The moment he moved—

The world shifted.

BOOM!!!

An invisible force slammed down.

Arka's body—

Stopped.

Mid-step.

"…!!"

Lyra was pushed to her knees.

"…Ghh—!"

The Guild Master didn't move.

"…Kneel."

Simple.

Absolute.

Arka's body trembled.

Not from fear.

But from—

Force.

Overwhelming.

[Void Resonance Reacting…]

"…Tch…"

His eyes sharpened.

"…Not happening."

Resistance

Slowly—

His body moved again.

Step.

Another.

The pressure increased.

CRACK!!

The ground beneath him shattered.

Lyra stared.

"…He's… moving?"

Impossible.

No one moved under that pressure.

No one.

The Guild Master's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…Interesting."

Arka exhaled slowly.

"…You're strong."

A pause.

"…But not absolute."

[Void Resonance – Spike]

Something snapped.

Not physically.

But mentally.

Arka's vision distorted.

Voices—

Echoed.

Whispers.

"…Consume…"

"…Break…"

"…Become…"

"…Shut up."

Lyra's eyes widened.

"…Arka—?"

His aura—

Changed.

Not controlled anymore.

Wild.

Unstable.

Dangerous.

Even to her.

The Guild Master watched silently.

"…So that's the price."

Breaking Point

Arka lifted his head.

His eyes—

No longer calm.

"…You…"

His voice—

Distorted.

"…I'll break you."

Lyra froze.

"…No…"

This wasn't him.

Not fully.

Instant Movement

WUSH!!!

Arka disappeared.

And reappeared—

Right in front of the Guild Master.

BOOOOM!!!

A direct strike.

For the first time—

The Guild Master moved.

He blocked.

Shockwave exploded.

The surrounding area—

Collapsed.

Lyra was thrown back.

"…DAMN IT—!"

Clash of Monsters

Arka attacked again.

Faster.

Stronger.

But—

Less controlled.

The Guild Master countered.

Efficient.

Minimal.

Each movement—

Perfect.

"…You've gained power."

A strike.

"…But lost yourself."

Arka didn't respond.

Didn't think.

Only attacked.

Critical Moment

The Guild Master raised his hand.

Energy condensed.

"…This ends now."

Lyra's eyes widened.

"…NO—!"

She forced herself up.

Ignoring the pain.

Ignoring the pressure.

"…ARKA!"

Her voice—

Cut through everything.

Silence—

For a split second.

Arka froze.

Just slightly.

Enough.

The Guild Master's attack—

Stopped inches from his face.

A pause.

Then—

The Guild Master lowered his hand.

"…Hmph."

Silence.

"…Not ready."

He turned away.

"…Grow stronger."

A final glance.

"…Then face me again."

And just like that—

He vanished.

Gone.

Aftermath

Silence.

Heavy.

Arka stood still.

Breathing heavily.

His aura—

Slowly stabilizing.

Lyra walked toward him.

Slow.

Careful.

"…You back?"

A pause.

Arka didn't answer immediately.

Then—

"…Yeah."

Quiet.

But real.

Lyra exhaled.

"…Don't do that again."

A small silence.

"…Can't promise."

She clicked her tongue.

"…Of course you can't."

But—

She stayed.

Right beside him.

Because now—

More than ever—

He needed someone.
