Chapter 2 - Bitter Moon Ch. 02 The Chase

Bitter Moon Ch. 02 The chase

An eagle shrieked in warning. A pack of wolves ran through the forest in hot pursuit. They had received orders from Tristan to find Luna and bring her back to the pack. Dead or Alive. Ever since they entered this forest, her scent seemed to come and go. How were they going to explain this to the Alpha and Luna? Her scent was fading and fast. It is like the forest itself was erasing her scent.

"Shut up, you're freaking me out?!" He growled through the telepathic link. "We just need to find her, or there will be hell to pay."

"Caleb, this isn't right. This is the second time we passed these trees." John growled back.

"I really don't like this, it's spooky," Jen growled back. "This doesn't feel right. We should let her go. I mean, she grew up with us, even if she doesn't have a wolf yet, she could get one later. Why the rush? Her parents died for our pack, you know… It's not right."

"Shhh, it was our Alpha that made the decision. Who are we to question it? And the Luna is her sister." Growled Kip.

"Some, sister!" Snorted Jeff. "I hope we don't find her."

"Damn, another dead end, let's keep looking. "Arlene snarled.

Luna opened her eyes. She had been watching the wolves searching for her trail through the eyes of an eagle. The trees were really picking on them. She felt her skin prickle in warning. Luna looked over to a jet-black wolf with purple eyes staring at her. She swallowed hard. This wolf was huge. Was it super-sized? She had never seen a wolf like this; everyone else seemed like anchovies. Wait, was this a King Alpha? What did they call it, an Ulric? As she watched him, he shifted into a beautiful man with pale skin and long black hair. His purple phoenix eyes were slanted into an elegant aloofness.

She tried to sit up but found that it was just too much. The world started spinning. She tried to form a word to say, but no sound came out. She was tired again, and her eyes started to drift closed. Wait, she wanted to look at him a little bit longer.

Lucas stared at the girl. She was a bloody mess. Dirt was caked all over her, mixed with dried blood. Disaster was plainly written all over her. He picked her up and left. His wolf had woken him when she had just entered his territory. The sense of urgency was all too real. He could feel their pursuit and that he needed to act fast.

She was unaware that she had been followed. At first, the chase had been half-hearted, but soon grew serious. The easy prey could not get away. Now they desperately searched while the forest hid her. If he could sense them, they certainly felt him, but it was too late; she was his now! He had waited so long for her, and now that she arrived, no matter how weak and battered. He found her; she would be his, this time. He would not lose. She's mine!

The wolves showed up soon after their eyes rounded in surprise. Luna had escaped.
