Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Sun Family Girl's Demand

As soon as Li Chenghua was about to continue scolding his son, the appearance of He Wenli interrupted him.

"Lao Li, enough…"

The mother's eyes were still red.

She looked at her son. In her gaze there was disappointment, but even more — regret and sympathy.

"Enough?"

Li Chenghua angrily retorted:

"Do you know that next month when the Spiritual Realm opens and our son is forcibly teleported there, with his trash talent he will most likely die inside?"

"Scolding him is still being gentle. I would kill him! At least if he dies here, I can retrieve his body, but if he dies in the Spiritual Realm, I won't even see his corpse…"

In the end, Li Chenghua's voice was filled with sorrow.

The "Spiritual Realm" he spoke of was that extremely dangerous supernatural place.

In fact, the Spiritual Realm also had another name — "Land of Anomalies"!

Because it was inhabited by countless incomprehensible monsters — embodiments of chaos. A single glance at some of them was enough to instantly cause an ordinary person to receive a severe mental shock, go insane, or turn into an idiot.

Without sufficiently strong talent and power, entering the Spiritual Realm meant certain death.

The Spiritual Realm opened once a month.

As soon as it opened, most superhumans were forcibly teleported there to undergo the trial.

If they managed to survive, they would receive rewards from the Spiritual Realm and become stronger.

This was the main way for most superhumans to increase their power!

Could one refuse and retire?

Of course it was possible.

However, to do so, one had to successfully pass the first ten levels of the Spiritual Realm.

After successfully passing the ten mandatory levels, a superhuman would gain freedom and could decide for themselves whether to participate in the next expeditions.

. . .

Li Chenghua's words instantly broke through He Wenli's psychological defenses, causing her to cry again.

They had only one son with Li Chenghua — Li Wei!

They had worked so hard to raise their son, and now, seeing that he faced mortal danger, how could they not grieve?

He Wenli's crying also affected Li Chenghua.

Although he did not cry, he closed his eyes and could no longer speak.

If one looked closely, one could notice that his hands, hidden in his sleeves, were trembling uncontrollably.

Seeing this, Li Wei understood that he needed to do something…

"Dad, Mom, don't worry!"

He deliberately put on a confident smile and said:

"Do you really think your son, that is, me, is that stupid? Sun Hailan and I are not even husband and wife. How could I have given away such a valuable and rare Natural Type Essence Crystal for nothing?"

It must be said that his words really caught the parents' attention.

Seeing Li Wei's confident smile, the elderly couple began to doubt.

He Wenli immediately asked:

"What do you mean? Son, explain. Is there some hidden meaning behind what you did…?"

Li Chenghua also stared intently at his son, waiting for an answer.

"Actually, for the past month, I've been having the same dream every night…"

Li Wei began to talk nonsense, telling them how he dreamed of foreseeing the future, how in the dream the spirit of the Sacred Land guided him. He told them everything!

There was no other way.

If he had told the truth and said that he had actually transmigrated here, it was hard to predict how his parents would react.

Li Wei did not want to test human nature. Deception was the best choice.

"…All the signs indicate that this Star Guardian legacy is something special. Doesn't the Sacred Land have a rule that the rarer the ability, the stronger it is? That's why I decided to take the risk! Not because of some love!"

When Li Wei finished, the elderly couple looked at each other. It was… difficult for them to believe.

The parents were smart people. They were not so easy to deceive.

"And you have already merged with it? Have you discovered anything special?" Li Chenghua asked with suspicion.

Li Wei replied:

"I just merged with it. How could I discover anything so quickly? Wait a few months, and you will see!"

He did not want to completely hide it from his parents, but the secret that the Star Guardian legacy allowed one to become stronger by absorbing the energy of Star Crystals was simply too unbelievable.

The most important thing was that it was extremely difficult to explain.

Even if his parents believed him, they would definitely ask where he learned this from. Li Wei would not be able to answer.

It was better to wait until noticeable results appeared and then show them to his parents. That would be much more convincing.

Besides, in Li Wei's memories, his father, Li Chenghua, liked to talk a lot when he drank and would spill everything he knew. Because of this, his mother had argued with him many times.

Although Li Chenghua had tried to change and now drank less, Li Wei still needed to be careful.

The secret of the Star Guardian legacy was extremely important. For now, it was best that he alone kept this secret.

He knew perfectly well: "success lies in secrecy, failure lies in leaking words."

The fact that he had already told his parents to stop them from worrying already showed how much he trusted them.

And there was one more very important point!

Li Wei had previously checked the information on his phone. In the history of the Sacred Land, there had only been two cases of the Star Guardian legacy card appearing. One of the possessors had died quite early in the Spiritual Realm. The second one had been incredibly lucky — he had successfully passed ten levels and was still alive.

Although this person was already over eighty years old and had long retired, Li Wei still felt wary of him.

He did not want a second powerful Star Guardian to appear on Dark Star!

. . .

At this moment, the mother, He Wenli, almost believed her son's words.

She was a woman and more emotional. Moreover, Li Wei was her only son, whom she trusted unconditionally.

Unlike her, Li Chenghua was more rational, and he was not so easy to deceive.

"Wait a few months? Wait? Do you think the Spiritual Realm is…"

Before he could finish speaking.

Suddenly, from outside came the excited voice of the fourth uncle:

"Third brother! Third brother! Come out quickly, good news!!"

The three people in the house were surprised.

Li Chenghua glanced at Li Wei and quickly walked outside.

He Wenli and Li Wei, who were also curious about what the good news was, hurried after him.

In the courtyard.

The fourth uncle, Li Chengwu, was talking with an unfamiliar middle-aged man. Seeing his third brother, he immediately introduced him:

"Third brother, this is Mr. Zhang, the student recruitment specialist from Zhenhua University…"

"Hello, hello! Welcome, Mr. Zhang…"

Hearing the name Zhenhua University, Li Chenghua did not dare to show any disrespect and immediately stepped forward to shake the guest's hand.

"What brings you here, Mr. Zhang?"

"Oh! I came to deliver the admission notice."

Said the middle-aged man surnamed Zhang:

"I represent Zhenhua University and inform you that your son, student Li Wei, has been admitted to our university. We ask student Li Wei to prepare as soon as possible and arrive at Zhenhua University within four days for registration."

Upon hearing this, the Li family of three was shocked.

Li Chenghua could not help but ask:

"Mr. Zhang, you must have made a mistake? My son's talent… should not meet the standards of your university."

Zhenhua University was among the top ten universities for training superhumans. It had strong teachers and had trained many famous powerful individuals. It was a prestigious university known throughout the country.

Naturally, the admission requirements for such a prestigious university were much higher than those of ordinary schools.

The Star Guardian legacy talent that Li Wei had merged with in no way met the requirements of Zhenhua University.

"There is no mistake!"

Mr. Zhang glanced at Li Wei standing behind and only then explained the reason:

"Mr. Li, you probably already know what happened at your son's school.

"Student Li Wei received the Natural Type Essence Crystal and gave it to student Sun Hailan, who needed it more. I personally admire student Li Wei's broad-mindedness and generosity!

"Of course, the real reason we decided to admit student Li Wei is student Sun Hailan!

"After student Li Wei left, various universities began to compete for Sun Hailan. Despite their offers, Sun Hailan ignored them all and made only one demand!

"Her demand was that she must enroll in the same university as student Li Wei!!

"Zhenhua University agreed to student Sun Hailan's demand…"
