From the moment I began agonizing over the Aspect of Death, my thoughts became consumed by the concept itself. Death—what is it? It is the phenomenon of life ceasing to exist; that is how people define it. You die from being unable to breathe, you drown, you burn, or most commonly, you die because your lifespan reaches its limit.
The Segunda Espada, Baraggan, governs death through Senescence. However, beyond these physical ends, death exists in many forms: the death of oblivion, where one is erased from the memories of others, and the death of suicide, where one ends their own existence.
Death. It is a trial bestowed by God upon humans—no, upon every living thing that must carry that burden. If humans did not know death, they would never have advanced to this degree. It is because death exists that humans strive to leave something behind and seek progress. Beasts, trees, and even inanimate objects like buildings leave something of themselves behind through their end.
When humans die, they leave behind names, achievements, and children. Beasts die and leave behind offspring, as well as the food and hides that humans require. Trees, in their death, become our furniture, our tissues, and our daily necessities. Buildings, before they crumble, allow many to gaze upon them, leaving behind their image and their history.
Everything has an end, and because of that death, we are capable of evolution and progress. By granting the gift of death to all life at the end, God gave us the opportunity to evolve. Death is more terrifying than anything else, but it is exactly because it exists that we can become strong.

It was an epiphany. I felt the wall blocking my path simply vanish, and a new way forward opened up before me. With a single step forward, I set foot into an entirely new world.
