Chapter 2 - Maleficent – Chapter 2: The Shadow of Betrayal

The Moors were no longer the same.

The once vibrant land—filled with glowing flowers, whispering trees, and laughing creatures—now carried a strange silence. The wind moved slower, as if afraid. Even the light seemed dimmer.

At the center of it all stood Maleficent.

Her wings were gone.

She stood atop a cliff, staring into the horizon where the human kingdom lay. Her eyes, once full of warmth, had turned cold—like a storm waiting to be unleashed.

"I trusted him…" she whispered.

The betrayal of Stefan burned inside her like fire. Not just the pain of losing her wings, but the breaking of something deeper—her heart.

Behind her, a small voice trembled.

"Maleficent…"

It was Diaval, still in his raven form. He watched her carefully, unsure if the same fairy he once saved still existed.

"They took something from you," he said softly. "But don't let them take everything."

Maleficent didn't respond at first.

Then slowly, she raised her hand. Dark magic crackled through the air. The trees twisted slightly. The sky grew heavier.

"I won't be weak again," she said. "Never again."

Meanwhile, in the human kingdom…

Celebrations echoed through the castle walls. King Stefan had been crowned, his power now absolute. But despite the cheers, his face showed no peace.

He had won the throne.

But lost himself.

Every night, he woke up in fear—haunted by the image of Maleficent, by what he had done. Shadows seemed to move in his room. Whispers followed him.

"She will come…" he muttered.

And deep down, he knew—it was true.

Years passed.

On the day of the royal christening, the entire kingdom gathered. A baby girl had been born—Princess Aurora. Joy filled the air as three good fairies arrived to bless the child.

"Beauty," said one.

"Grace," said another.

Then suddenly…

A cold wind blew through the hall.

The candles flickered wildly.

The doors burst open.

Darkness spread across the floor like living smoke.

And she appeared.

Maleficent.

Stronger. Darker. Unrecognizable.

Gasps filled the room. Fear froze every soul.

"Well, well…" she said, her voice calm but deadly. "What a… lovely gathering."

King Stefan stood up, his face pale.

"You're not welcome here."

Maleficent smiled slightly.

"Oh, I know. But I couldn't miss such a special occasion."

She slowly approached the cradle where Aurora lay sleeping peacefully.

"I too will bestow a gift…" she whispered.

The room fell silent.

"Aurora will grow in grace and beauty… loved by all who meet her…"

Stefan relaxed for a second.

But then—

"However…" Maleficent's eyes glowed.

"Before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday… she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel…"

A pause.

"And fall into a sleep… like death."

Panic erupted.

"No!" Stefan shouted.

But Maleficent raised her hand, silencing him instantly.

"This curse cannot be broken," she continued. "Only… softened."

She looked at the fairies with a smirk.

"Let's see if true love really exists."

With that, she vanished into darkness.

Far away in the Moors…

Maleficent stood alone again.

But this time… there was no sadness.

Only revenge.

And the beginning of something far more dangerous.

To be continued…
