Chapter 40 - The Script Of Her Heart

Chapter 40: Chaos, Comfort, and Culinary Questions

The hideout was an abandoned, dilapidated warehouse on the bleakest outskirts of Seoul. Inside, the air was cold and damp, but the stalker had tried his best to make it "comfortable" for his prize. He had placed a single wooden chair in the center of the room and kept the ropes away, treating Clara with an unsettling, gentle reverence.

"You see? I love you too much to hurt you, my darling," he whispered, his bloodshot eyes crinkling into a terrifyingly soft smile as he gestured for her to sit. "You can move around. I won't tie you up. But... only if you are a good girl and do exactly as I say. If you try to run, or if you make me angry, I will have to bind you to me in a much more permanent way. Do you understand?"

Clara swallowed the thick lump of terror in her throat and nodded slowly, her hands trembling in her lap. She had to stay calm. She had to play along until help arrived.

Meanwhile, far away in the underground garage, Min-ho slowly blinked his eyes open. A sharp, white-hot pain exploded through his temple, and as he reached up, his fingers came away wet with dark crimson blood. But despite the blinding headache, his mind was instantly, viciously clear.

Ji-soo

Ignoring the dizziness, he pulled out his phone, instantly alerting his chief of security and dialing Secretary Kim. Within twenty minutes, Min-ho was back up in his penthouse, a medical team quickly bandaging his head while his private security force turned the living room into a high-tech tactical command center.

But the tense, professional atmosphere didn't last long.

Through Secretary Kim, the news of the kidnapping had reached Lukas and Pascale. Minutes later, the penthouse doors burst open, and the twins stormed into the apartment like a Category 5 hurricane of pure panic and drama.

"We are here to help!" Lukas announced, throwing his designer coat onto a high-tech surveillance monitor. He immediately marched up to the chief of security, squinting at the tactical vests of the heavily armed guards. "First of all, honey, absolutely not. Black tactical gear for a rescue mission? It's summer, you're going to sweat through that nylon, and frankly, it washes out your complexion. Do you have anything in a nice, breathable navy blue?"

The hardened mercenary blinked in utter speechlessness.

"And another thing!" Lukas cried, turning to a pacing, stressed-out Min-ho. "Clara cannot sleep without her favorite plushie! Did anyone pack it?! If she doesn't have her stuffed animal, she gets insomnia, and a sleep-deprived hostage is an uncooperative hostage!"

Before Min-ho could even process the absurdity, Pascale pushed past his brother, holding a notepad and a pen. "Lukas, stop nagging about fashion, food is the real crisis! Clara needs proper nutrition to survive the psychological shock. And if we want these brave men to find her, they need brain food."

Pascale marched straight up to a massive, muscular sniper who was busy calibrating his rifle. "Excuse me, sir. For the rescue-motivation dinner, what is your favorite meal? And more importantly, do you have any dietary restrictions? Gluten-free? Lactose intolerant? Any peanut allergies? I need to know before I start meal-prepping for the tactical squad!"

The sniper looked at Min-ho, his jaw dropping in sheer disbelief. Min-ho rubbed his throbbing temples, his veins practically bulging with rage. He was just about to lose his mind and throw the twins out of the penthouse himself when the elevator doors chimed.

Secretary Kim stepped into the room.

He took one look at the chaotic circus, adjusted his glasses, and walked straight over to the twins with an aura of absolute, calm authority.

"Lukas. Pascale," Secretary Kim said, his voice quiet but carrying a terrifying weight. "Amending the tactical uniforms will not expedite Miss Ji-soo's return. Furthermore, the tactical squad is fully rationed. Lukas, go sit on the couch and hold the plushie. Pascale, put the notepad away. Now."

To everyone's absolute amazement, the chaotic, untouchable twins instantly deflated.

"Oh. Alright, if you say so, Mr. Kim," Lukas mumbled, suddenly looking incredibly shy as he walked over to the sofa, clutching the stuffed animal.

"Yes, sir. Stopping the menu planning immediately," Pascale murmured, neatly folding his notepad away without a single complaint.

The entire security team, including the muscular sniper and the chief, turned to look at Secretary Kim with eyes wide with profound, unadulterated respect. The man had just tamed a pair of wild lions with a single look. Min-ho let out a long sigh, giving his assistant a nod of immense gratitude.

The chaos was contained. Now, the real hunt for Clara could begin.
