Chapter 14 - Chapter 4: She Was Not in One Place

He told himself he needed proof.

Something solid.

Something the hotel couldn't deny.

Because if even the system refused to record her, then the only thing left was his memory—and that was starting to feel unreliable.

So he went back to the security room.

The same monitors.

The same cold air.

The same quiet hum of machines pretending to understand reality.

The security officer didn't ask questions this time.

He just watched.

As if he already knew what the man was going to look for.

"Show me all corridor feeds," the man said.

The footage loaded.

Rows of empty hallways appeared.

All still.

All identical.

At first, there was nothing unusual.

No movement.

No presence.

Just the hotel behaving normally again.

Too normally.

Then he saw her.

On one screen.

At the far end of a corridor.

Standing still.

He leaned forward immediately.

"Stop. Zoom that."

The officer complied.

The image sharpened.

She was there.

Clear.

Unmistakable.

But then—

another monitor flickered.

He turned.

She was there too.

Different corridor.

Same posture.

Same stillness.

He froze.

"That's not possible," he whispered.

He leaned closer.

Both screens showed her.

At the same time.

In different places.

Not moving.

Just existing.

"Switch cameras," he said quickly.

The officer hesitated.

Then switched.

She appeared again.

This time on three screens.

Then four.

Each corridor.

Different angle.

Same woman.

Same presence.

As if the hotel had stopped deciding where she should be.

The man stepped back.

"No… no, no—this is wrong."

His breathing started to change.

Faster.

Shallower.

Then his phone vibrated.

He froze.

Slowly pulled it out.

Looked at the screen.

A notification.

No sender.

No number.

Just a black preview window.

He opened it.

And saw her.

Not a photo.

Not a video.

A live image.

The same woman.

Standing in a corridor.

Inside his phone screen.

Looking directly at him.

His hand shook.

"That's not—"

He turned his phone slightly.

The camera view changed.

She was still there.

Even when he wasn't looking at a monitor.

Even when he wasn't in the security room.

He dropped the phone onto the desk.

It didn't break.

It just stayed lit.

Showing her.

Still.

Watching.

The monitors in the room began flickering faster.

One by one.

She appeared on every screen.

Not synchronized.

Not copied.

Just… present.

Everywhere.

The officer finally spoke.

"…We don't have that many cameras covering the same floor."

His voice was low.

Uncertain.

Like he didn't want to confirm what he was seeing.

The man turned sharply.

"What do you mean you don't—she's everywhere!"

He pointed at the screens.

His voice cracked slightly.

"She's everywhere!"

And then—

all the monitors went black.

For half a second.

Complete silence.

Then—

she appeared.

On every screen.

At once.

All facing forward.

All looking directly at him.

The man stepped back so quickly he almost hit the wall.

"No… no, no, NO—"

His voice broke.

Not fear anymore.

Something closer to collapse.

The lights in the room flickered.

And in that flicker—

he felt something behind him.

He turned instantly.

The security room was empty.

But his phone—

was still on the table.

And the screen—

was no longer showing cameras.

It was showing him.

From behind.

He staggered back.

Breathing hard.

"No… this is not possible…"

He grabbed the phone.

Turned it.

The screen updated.

Now it showed him.

From the front.

And behind him—

she was standing.

He didn't turn this time.

Not immediately.

Because he already knew.

When he finally did—

there was nothing there.

Just empty air.

But the phone still showed her.

Standing right behind him.

Perfectly still.

And smiling.

His breath stopped.

Completely.

He dropped the phone again.

This time it cracked.

But the screen kept showing her.

The officer backed away slowly.

"We should leave," he whispered.

But the man didn't move.

He couldn't.

Because at that moment—

he realized something worse than seeing her everywhere.

She wasn't appearing in the hotel anymore.

The hotel was appearing inside her.
