Chapter 2 - The Fair Lady

According to the information I received, I am the Spirit of the Dual Cultivation Chamber.

The meaning is simple: I receive guests and provide them with services. And those services are definitely not normal.

The chamber for dual cultivation is fully customizable. It changes according to the patron's taste and desires. Even my own status and appearance can be altered based on what the patron wishes.

[Ding]

[Your First Descent will commence in 10 seconds.]

[10… 9… 8… 7…]

As I was thinking about the functions of the Dual Cultivation Chamber, the system dinged and began the countdown for my descent.

What is a "descent"?

I will descend into a random place, and there I will have to run this Dual Cultivation Chamber.

I stopped thinking the moment the countdown hit 1. With a sudden flicker of the screen, I fell. Not from grace, but literally. My body, which had weighed nothing, suddenly felt thousands of kilograms heavy.

Darkness seeped into my eyes.

But with a single flap of my eyelids, I saw fluttering lights.

My feet, which had once been senseless, now touched solid ground. A tingling sensation spread through my toes.

I looked around. A vast field of lush vegetation greeted me—tall trees, fresh air, and the rich scents of herbs and flowers filling my nose.

The sun hung high in the sky, brightening the world. Clouds drifted slowly and smoothly, taking on all kinds of shapes. One even looked like a piece of poop, which drew a slight chuckle from my mouth as it reminded me of something from my past life. A gentle wind blew, leaves rustled, and a sense of clarity washed over my mind. For a moment, I felt… fresh.

In that vast darkness earlier, I had lost all my senses. To say I wasn't afraid or stressed would be a lie. But now, after feeling the touch of the wind, hearing the rustling of dancing leaves, the chirping of birds, and the distant howls of beasts, something deep stirred in my chest. It was as if my heart was beating for the first time. The sensations of a living body… I had really, really missed this.

I took a long breath in and exhaled slowly, pushing all the anxiety, stress, and useless thoughts out of my mind. Clarity returned to my once restless thoughts.

My mind focused on the information I had received. I am the Spirit of the Dual Cultivation Chamber, and this chamber can become whatever I—or more precisely, my patrons—desire. It can be a simple circular room with nothing but a broken wooden bed, or a luxurious royal chamber with a bed made of precious jewels and walls adorned with expensive artworks. The choice is mine… or rather, the patron's.

This chamber has the power to increase the speed of cultivation through the perfect harmony of Yin and Yang. No—actually, that's not entirely accurate. This chamber has the power to do almost anything through the harmony of Yin and Yang. I repeat: anything.

But for it to work, a pair of opposite sexes is required—one man and one woman.

As I was contemplating the workings of the system, I suddenly heard a scream.

"Ahhhhh!!!"

My eyes whipped toward the direction of the scream. It sounded feminine. Curiosity bloomed inside me. Forgetting everything else, I broke into swift steps and ran toward the source of the sound. Did I think about the consequences? Nahhh!!!

I reached the place where the scream had come from. A fierce tiger was standing in front of a lady. She wore a bluish-white robe with a long slit along her right thigh that reached her ankle, and a tight blue waistband accentuating her figure. Her fair arms were exposed as the robe was sleeveless. A deep claw mark ran across her right arm, blood flowing ceaselessly from the wound.

The lady had a delicate, bean-shaped face, with long black hair flowing down to her waist. Her blue eyes had already turned slightly red from pain, and her pale cheeks were huffing and trembling.

She was lying on the ground, her legs exposed. Just two inches from her right hand lay her sword.

The tiger glared at her hungrily, its predatory eyes shining with a dangerous glint. Its mouth hung open, drool dripping from the corners. Its claws were stained with fresh red blood—the same blood as the lady's.

With one glance, I clearly understood what had happened. The tiger had clawed the lady's arm, which is why she screamed. But what was she doing alone in such a dangerous place?

Suddenly, the tiger lunged at her. From its paws, hardened bone claws elongated, glinting dangerously under the sun. The lady swiftly grabbed her sword from the ground and performed a backflip, narrowly missing the brutal attack.

There was a tree right behind her. She planted her foot against the trunk, bent her knees to gather force, and then leaped toward the tiger, slashing her sword downward. The tiger couldn't dodge in time. A deep gash erupted on its left paw, blood spraying out. Though the wound wasn't fatal since the beast had jumped back, it was still a nasty, bloody injury.

Seeing the tiger still largely unscathed, the lady took a firm stance in front of it, sizing it up. Her right arm throbbed with pain, making it hard to even hold the sword. Blood continued to spray, but she couldn't afford to rest. If she did, the damn tiger would end her pitiful life.

I watched her breathing heavily, taking light, careful steps with her pale, exposed legs and thighs—

Ahem!

I saw everything. After the failed assault, the tiger's eyes changed. It opened its mouth wide and hurled a stream of fire breath at the lady. She smoothly dodged it, but her robe wasn't as lucky. The fire caught on her left shoulder and quickly began spreading across her clothes.

As the flames spread toward her chest, exposing her inner garments, the lady decisively cut open the burning robe at her waist and threw the shredded fabric away.

My eyes widened as I watched her retreat. Her two twin peaks jiggled enticingly, encased in a sweaty pure-white inner garment of rhombus shape. Her fair shoulders were now fully exposed, and sweat droplets dripped down, wetting the thin fabric and perfectly outlining the shape of her breasts in my view.
