Chapter 11 - very close

It was no longer… an experiment.

And it was no longer mere curiosity.

Instead, it became…

Persistence.

Every time he saw her…

He felt that something was missing from his analysis.

A small void…

He could not fill.

And that…

Was unacceptable.

"I will break her."

It wasn't a sentence he said aloud.

Rather…

An internal judgment.

And this time…

He didn't settle for passing words.

He sat before her.

Directly.

No distance.

No pleasantries.

"Let us begin."

She raised her gaze.

Her usual calm remained unchanged.

"You want to try?"

"No…"

He said coldly.

"…I will end this."

The System moved.

> **[Activating: Echo of Doubt]**

> **[Target: High Cognitive Stability]**

> **[Note: Potential Resistance]**

He looked directly into her eyes.

Then he began.

"Have you ever thought…"

He paused for a moment.

"…that everything you believe in is just a way to ease your pain?"

Silence.

"That goodness… is just a lie invented by the weak…"

He drew closer.

"…so they can endure?"

Stillness.

The air itself… grew tense.

The words he used… were not random.

They were precise.

Built on analysis.

On penetration.

Waiting…

For the crack.

But she…

Did not break.

She did not retreat. She did not flee.

Instead, she looked at him.

Calmly.

"Yes."

He froze.

"Perhaps what I believe in… makes me endure the pain."

Silence.

Then she continued:

"But that does not make it a lie."

His eyes narrowed.

The System moved.

> **[Partial Failure]**

> **[Target maintains composure]**

> **[Analysis: Dual Perception]**

He pressed harder.

"Then you are running away."

"And you?"

A simple question.

But… it wasn't.

"You aren't running?"

Silence.

"You aren't hiding behind the 'truth'… to avoid feeling?"

He froze.

For a fraction of a second.

Something inside him… moved.

But this time… it wasn't a glitch.

It was… friction.

He said coldly, "I see reality as it is."

She gave a faint smile.

"No…"

She shook her head.

"…you see the part that suits you."

The System:

> **[Slight Disturbance in Mental Balance]**

> **[Temporary Drop in Conviction Stability]**

He caught his breath.

For the first time… his control was not absolute.

But he did not stop.

Instead… he intensified.

"Everyone who got close to you…"

He said slowly.

"…will leave you."

She looked at him.

Silence.

Then… she said quietly:

"Perhaps."

She drew closer.

"…but that doesn't mean I won't get close."

Stillness.

The sentence… was not logical.

But… it had an effect.

The System:

> **[Unknown Effect]**

> **[Analysis Incomplete]**

He looked at her.

For a long time.

For the first time… he didn't see a target.

But… something else.

Something that cannot be broken.

Something that… remains.

Days passed.

And he kept returning.

Once.

Then again.

Then… for no apparent reason.

And every time…

He tried.

He used his words. His analyses. His skills.

And she… was affected.

Yes.

He could see it.

The words above her began to appear occasionally.

**"Pain"**

Then they vanished.

**"Hesitation"**

Then… they solidified.

But she… did not collapse.

Instead… she returned.

Always.

And one day…

He said to her:

"You are starting to change."

She looked at him.

"And you?"

Silence.

He didn't answer.

Because… he didn't know.

At that moment… the System appeared.

> **[Critical Note]**

> **[User is undergoing mutual influence]**

> **[Possibility: Formation of an attachment]**

He stopped.

He read the line once… twice.

*"Attachment…?"*

He looked at her.

Then he said suddenly:

"This is wrong."

She looked puzzled.

"What?"

"Your existence."

Stillness.

"You are… a glitch."

He said coldly.

"…and it must be fixed."

She looked at him.

She didn't get angry. She didn't get sad.

Instead, she said quietly:

"And you?"

Silence.

"…what will you do with yourself?"

He froze.

For the first time… the question wasn't about her.

But… about him.

In that moment…

He could not answer.

He turned.

And left.

With rapid steps.

But inside… he was not calm.

*"Why… do I return?"*

*"Why… doesn't she break?"*

*"Why… doesn't she disappear?"*

He stopped suddenly.

He placed his hand on his chest.

No pulse.

But… pressure.

Something heavy.

Incomprehensible.

"This…"

He whispered.

"…is illogical."

But the truth?

It didn't need logic.

And in a distant place…

She stood.

Watching him as he walked away.

And on her face…

There was no smile.

But…

A faint hope.

As if she saw…

Something returning.

Slowly.

Despite everything.
