I have no idea how much the madness lasted. 

I was ashamed to admit it but I watched the whole of it with a conflicted feeling. He deserved it…I knew it did and I also know that he was our only vital source of information right now. 

Still, I felt bile hitting the back of my throat.

It rose higher the longer I stood there, clawing upward with every muffled groan that left the intruder's lips and every measured movement Darius made like this was nothing more than another ordinary task on his long list of responsibilities.

My fingers curled tightly against my palm, nails biting into my skin as I fought against the sudden urge to turn away.

But I didn't.

Even when my stomach twisted violently.

Even when the metallic scent of blood thickened the air and settled heavily at the back of my tongue.

I stayed.

Because he told me to watch.

And some stubborn, foolish part of me refused to look weak now.
