Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Xiao Li Who Is Afraid of Shots

When the morning sunlight spilled through the sheer curtains, Su Yuyan felt a weight pressing down on her chest, as if a small animal had decided to make her its bed.

She opened her eyes groggily and saw Xiao Li clinging to her like a koala. Her long silver hair covered Su Yuyan's face, carrying a faint milky scent.

"…Get up."

Her voice was still hoarse from sleep as she reached out to grab the little one by the back of her collar, intending to lift her away.

But the moment she touched her—

"…Did you wet the bed again?"

Xiao Li rubbed her eyes, still half-asleep. Then suddenly her amber eyes widened, and her little face flushed bright red.

"I-it's not! It's because Sister gave me too much goat milk in the middle of the night!"

As she spoke, she wriggled into the blanket like a slippery little fish, trying to hide the evidence.

Su Yuyan caught her and lifted her up in front of her face.

"Drinking too much goat milk causes bedwetting?"

"Yes!" Xiao Li nodded righteously. "My tummy said it couldn't hold it anymore, so it… leaked out."

Su Yuyan: "…"

She took a deep breath and picked up her phone.

"Secretary Chen. Call a pediatrician. Now."

At the word "doctor," Xiao Li immediately panicked.

"No injections!"

She slipped out of Su Yuyan's grasp like a startled fox, scurrying around the room before diving under Su Yuyan's skirt and hugging her leg tightly.

"Come out." Su Yuyan gritted her teeth.

"No! Sister, protect me!" came the muffled voice from beneath the hem.

At that moment, the doctor entered—and the tip of a fluffy tail accidentally brushed against his knee.

The old doctor adjusted his glasses and glanced meaningfully at Su Yuyan's skirt.

"President Su, your child…"

"Just bedwetting. Prescribe something."

Su Yuyan cut him off calmly, stepping lightly on the restless furball beneath her skirt with her heel.

"Move again and I'll turn you into soup."

Xiao Li instantly froze.

In the end, the doctor prescribed strawberry-flavored children's vitamins.

Xiao Li hugged the box like treasure, popping them into her mouth one after another, crunching happily as if they were candy.

"You can only have one per day."

Su Yuyan took the box away.

Xiao Li pouted, watching it disappear, then suddenly brightened.

"Then can I eat two? One for today and one for tomorrow!"

Su Yuyan: "…"

She glanced at the doctor's note—diapers recommended—and felt a vein throb at her temple again.

At lunch, Xiao Li discovered a new toy: an automatic feeder.

Ding!

A small piece of fruit dropped into the bowl.

Xiao Li immediately squatted in front of it like a kitten waiting to be fed, opening her mouth wide.

"Ah—"

The fruit landed perfectly inside.

"So fun!" she clapped, repeating the process again and again.

Su Yuyan sat at the table, elegantly cutting her steak, watching as Xiao Li played for over ten minutes. Each ding made her open her mouth reflexively, like a trained pet.

At one point, the machine lagged slightly.

Xiao Li panicked and lunged forward—almost swallowing the spoon along with the fruit.

"Spit it out."

Su Yuyan pinched her cheeks.

"You're a fox, not a shredder."

Xiao Li spat the spoon out, looking wronged, saliva glistening on its surface.

"But it looked like dried fish…"

In the afternoon, Su Yuyan had a video conference and gave Xiao Li a tablet to watch cartoons.

At first, everything was peaceful.

Until—

"Sister! This train looks just like you!"

Xiao Li rushed in front of the camera holding the tablet.

The executives saw a blocky red cartoon train.

Someone laughed.

Su Yuyan closed the laptop.

"Meeting adjourned."

When she turned around, Xiao Li had climbed onto the desk and was using a luxury lipstick to draw crooked red flowers on the window.

"This is a gift for Sister!"

She proudly raised her hands, leaving a perfect paw print on Su Yuyan's shirt.

Su Yuyan looked at the ruined designer blouse… then at Xiao Li's sparkling eyes.

She couldn't get angry.

That night, she ordered ten identical shirts.

And Xiao Li received her first drawing book.

"Draw here."

Su Yuyan sat her down firmly.

Xiao Li drew two stick figures holding hands, with exaggerated silver hair.

"This is Sister and Xiao Li!"

She suddenly hugged her tightly.

"I love Sister the most!"

Su Yuyan reached out to pat her head—

Then paused.

Something hard brushed her fingers.

She parted the silver hair.

A tiny white horn, no bigger than a grain of rice, was hidden underneath.

"This is…"

"It's itchy~" Xiao Li giggled and ran off.

But Su Yuyan's gaze deepened.

That night, Xiao Li insisted on telling a bedtime story.

"The big fox made the moon into a pancake and sprinkled stars on top…"

"Sister, are you listening?"

Su Yuyan stared at the crescent moon outside the window.

It felt familiar.

As if long ago…

There had been someone just like this.

Always trying to grab the moon and eat it.

"Sister?"

"Sleep."

She tucked Xiao Li in, her fingers brushing lightly over the horn.

The memories were returning faster than expected.

Under the moonlight, the shadow of a tenth tail flickered briefly on the wall—then vanished.

Outside, crows with glowing red eyes watched silently.

In her dream, Xiao Li frowned.

"Is 'keep it up' tasty…? Is the system tasty…? I'm hungry…"

Then she saw it—

A girl just like her, sealed inside a giant crystal.

The girl opened her eyes.

"Don't remember…"

Her lips moved soundlessly.

"Run."
