Chapter 18 - The Price of Infinity

In a place unknown—

Untouched by any continent, unseen by any ordinary being—

There existed a separate dimension.

A hidden domain where only one race held dominion.

Demons.

A colossal structure pierced the sky.

It rose endlessly, tearing through thick clouds as if the heavens themselves were nothing but an obstacle to overcome. Its base stretched across nearly a hundred kilometers, surrounded by countless smaller structures that spread outward like a living organism.

It was not merely a fortress.

It was a city.

A demonic city.

This was where the Demons resided.

A dimension detached from Eclovus, hidden beyond the reach of normal existence. Only Demons—and the humans who served them from the shadows—were capable of entering this place.

At the very peak of the towering structure—

A grand hall existed.

Contrary to expectation, it was not drenched in darkness. Instead, golden light illuminated every corner, reflecting off polished surfaces and elegant decorations. The atmosphere resembled a celebration rather than a gathering of monsters.

Wine glasses shimmered.

Low murmurs filled the air.

High-ranking Demons stood together, their expressions calm yet satisfied.

Because today—

Something had been achieved.

Something monumental.

At the center of the hall stood the General.

A massive figure whose mere presence caused the air itself to grow heavier, as if the space around him acknowledged his superiority. A dark grin stretched across his face as he slowly raised the glass in his hand.

"Today…" his deep voice echoed across the hall, steady and commanding,

"we celebrate a special occasion."

The murmurs faded.

All attention turned to him.

"Even in the absence of our Demon King…" he continued, his grin widening slightly,

"we have accomplished something worthy of triumph."

A pause.

Then—

"The final key… has been found."

For a fraction of a second—

Silence.

Then—

Everything stopped.

Before a single cheer could escape—

A voice echoed.

Not through the air.

Not through sound.

But directly—

Inside their minds.

{A Being is attempting to break the Laws of Existence}

{The World — Eclovus will be stripped from this Universe as a consequence}

The effect was immediate.

Glasses trembled violently.

Some shattered in place.

Others slipped from frozen hands, crashing onto the floor.

The expressions of the Demons changed.

Confidence—

Vanished.

And it wasn't just them.

The voice spread.

Across continents.

Across dimensions.

Across the entirety of existence.

The Universe itself—

Had spoken.

Elsewhere — Elven Continent

Velzahar froze mid-motion.

His body went completely still, as if time itself had momentarily lost meaning.

His eyes widened—

Not in anger.

Not in irritation.

But in something far rarer.

Shock.

"…What…?" he muttered, his voice low and disbelieving.

"Breaking… the Laws of Existence?"

Beside him, Evelyne stood motionless.

Her thoughts failed to process everything except a single sentence—

Eclovus will be stripped from the Universe.

Her lips parted slightly, her voice barely forming.

"…That's… impossible…"

But Velzahar—

He felt something more.

A disturbance.

A violent ripple tearing through space itself.

Something unnatural.

Something that should not exist.

And it was coming from one place.

The cave.

Where Noah was.

Velzahar's pupils shrank sharply.

"…No…"

A realization struck him—

And without another word—

He vanished.

"SHIT!"

Inside the Cave

Noah heard it.

The voice.

The warning.

The judgment.

But he couldn't react.

His body had already gone limp.

Floating mid-air, his form bent unnaturally, like a puppet whose strings had been violently cut.

The System began to react.

Rapidly.

Violently.

[Universe is rejecting the Synchronization of 'Infinity']

[Authority Override Initiated…]

['Infinity' is Synchronizing…]

Inside Noah—

Inside his very soul—

Something stirred.

The fading remnants of the Sword God, Nirovan, flickered weakly.

His ethereal form trembled, his expression no longer calm.

"…This… shouldn't be possible…"

His voice carried disbelief, something that had never existed within him before.

"The System… never had such functions…"

His gaze shifted, trying to understand what was unfolding.

"…And those abilities… those rewards…"

"They were never meant to exist…"

For the first time—

Panic surfaced.

"…What is happening?!"

And then—

He vanished.

Completely.

Within Noah's soul—

A symbol began to form.

Slowly.

Painfully.

On his chest—

Lines carved themselves into existence, burning through his very essence as if reality itself was being rewritten.

The symbol of Infinity.

Noah's soul trembled as if resisting—

But something far greater forced it into place.

Outside the Cave

Velzahar appeared instantly.

And froze.

For the first time in his countless years of existence—

He felt fear.

"…What… is that…?"

His voice was barely audible.

Noah floated before him.

Unconscious.

Completely defenseless.

Velzahar stepped forward and caught him, steadying his body.

His gaze shifted downward—

And locked onto Noah's chest.

The symbol.

Burning.

Etching itself into reality.

A cold sweat slid down Velzahar's face.

His instincts screamed.

Danger.

In tens of thousands of years—

He had never seen anything like this.

Not among Dragons.

Not among Gods.

"…What are you becoming…?"

He didn't interfere.

He couldn't.

So he waited.

Inside Noah's Mind

The System continued.

[Detected: Higher Beings attempting to observe the Host]

[Protocol #00001 Initiated…]

[Protocol: Null Activated]

Instantly—

All observation ceased.

From the Universe.

From higher dimensions.

From everything.

Noah—

Was completely hidden.

Time passed.

Hours turned into a day.

Velzahar didn't move.

Not even once.

Another day passed.

Still—

He stood there.

Watching.

Waiting.

On the third day—

The System spoke again.

['Infinity' has been successfully synchronized]

[Access granted via Status Panel]

And then—

The Universe returned.

{Eclovus will now face the consequences}

{Authority over Cosmic Energy has been stripped from this world}

And finally—

A message meant for Noah alone.

{For committing the Unthinkable…}

{You are assigned a Mission of the Highest Tier — Tier ???}

{Mission:

Locate the Seven Sins that existed before the Multiverse itself.

One Sin — Greed — has become the Benefactor of this Universe.

To save it… the remaining Six must be found.}

{Time Limit: 10 Years}

{Reward: None}

{Penalty: Death}

Silence followed.

Noah's body fell.

And-

The moment the Universe's voice faded—

Something changed.

Not slowly.

Not subtly.

But violently.

Across the continent of Norox—

The very air trembled.

Knights in training fields suddenly froze mid-swing as the Ether surrounding their blades flickered uncontrollably. Techniques they had practiced for years collapsed in an instant, dispersing into nothingness before completion.

"What… what's happening to my Ether?!"

A veteran knight staggered back, his aura destabilizing as if it had lost its foundation.

Spells failed.

Enchantments broke.

Even the simplest control over energy became erratic, slipping through fingers like sand.

Inside royal palaces—

Mages coughed out blood.

Their carefully maintained Ether cores trembled, some even cracking under the sudden imbalance.

"Impossible… Ether… it's thinning—no… it's being stripped away!"

Panic spread like wildfire.

In the Dwarven continent of Egumen—

Massive forges that had burned for centuries suddenly dimmed.

Runic engravings lost their glow, turning dull and lifeless.

A master blacksmith slammed his hammer down in disbelief.

"The resonance is gone…! The Ether isn't responding!"

Ancient weapons—

Once alive with power—

Became nothing more than metal.

In Carfiallo—

The land of Beastmen—

Warriors collapsed mid-hunt.

Their instincts, once sharpened by Ether, dulled instantly.

A massive beast roared in confusion before being struck down by prey it once dominated.

Balance—

Had broken.

And in Velmor—

The Elven continent—

Silence fell.

The World Tree trembled.

Its leaves, glowing with ancient Ether, flickered like dying stars. The vast network of energy that once flowed through every root and branch faltered, disrupted by an unseen force.

Evelyne stood frozen beneath it, her eyes wide as she felt the change.

"…It's weakening…"

Her voice trembled.

Not in fear—

But in realization.

"This isn't just instability…"

"It's loss."

Across the world—

Across every continent—

Across every living being—

The same truth became clear.

Ether—

The very foundation of power—

Was no longer stable.

It was being taken.

And no one knew why.

Back in the cave—

Velzahar slowly lifted his gaze.

For the first time in centuries—

His expression was no longer calm.

"…So this is the consequence…"

His voice was low.

Heavy.

Dangerous.

His eyes shifted toward Noah's unconscious body.

Toward the symbol etched into his chest.

"…You didn't just gain power…"

A pause.

"…You changed the world itself."

Silence returned.

But Velzahar broke it in a few moments again "Sigh, you leave me no choice..."

He paused before briefly glancing at the Unconscious Noah.

"I have to send you 'There' Early, or you might be stuck here without gaining experience.."
